Apart from the future comparison with the other reactive load boxes it would be interesting to hear all units with the IR taken from your existing cabinet, and then from the cabinet itself (using same mic and position IR was made of) And also how much sound noise these units are making while in use
It’s nice product. I am amazed that it is less than half the price I thought it would be. It's cool that the 9V is ok for the voltage issue that I have to worry about when using foreign products! Plus not having to worry about polarity is awesome.
Hey, I've been waiting for some news from these St. Rock guys for quite some time. Cool that their business is still alive and kicking. I also play a JB equipped guitar through a Kraken most of the time, so this demo is especially useful, thanks!
Only downside Ive seen so far is the original had Power Amp curve and tone stack simulators which this doesn't. Maybe they can add it with an update because those features were great especially the PA curve which meant I could add that impedance curve to preamp pedals so they sounded much closer to how they would through a clean tube power amp.
We debated this. The downside is that we don`t wanted old primitive filters (i.e. PA curve and Tonestack), but new PA simulations from Amperium Live with IRs with 170ms length in stereo at 48k does not fitted into DSP computational restrictions. Maybe if PA simulation will run in mono it can fit DSP. So no old PA curves, only Amperium technology will be considered for the future.
@@LucifdeLuther Ah that makes sense, still love the products and something in the future that does all this with Amperium tech as well would be awesome.
The captor X is not only the hardware it's also and above all the dyn ir m, her excellent ir simulation of cabs and mic m. And you can only use with the captor x
You can use the Dyn IR with Genome ans WOS. I think the Two Notes software and interface are amazing and would suit me better than this which seems under developed.
I was thinking today about seeing if there's something that might be better than my CaptorX, and then this pops up! Sounds pretty damn good, especially for the price.
Great video. So the attenuator out volume is like a full range volume knob? Not like a 3 position switch / dial that is either off, too low or full on like the Captor X? That part of the Captor X is completely unusable for me. I would like to send IR output to FOH and have a completely adjustable attenuated cabinet volume on stage for live use with a cranked tube amp. I have yet to see an attenuator with fully adjustable volume output.
Not sure if you got an answer elsewhere, but yes, if you use the attenuated output it’s 16db padded automatically (a little less attenuation than captor x on first attenuation level) then you can dial the st rock all the way from -16db smoothly to silent. I’ll be releasing a vid showing this feature sometime really soon.
@@whataguitarnerd Thanks for the info! That is good to know. I'm not sure what the first level of attenuation is on my Captor X but I know its too low coming out of my cabinet for a full band rehearsal...and no attenuation is ungodly loud lol. I look forward to your video! 🤘🤘🤘
Redseven AC sounds great, but the workflow on loading IR's is not my favorite. Auditioning IR's looks like it will be a lot easier with the React IRII. It gives you UI software and can load many more IR's. The unit sounds nice, and the price it great. I'm looking forward to your comparison video against the redseven. Amp central is at the top IMO when it comes to it's reactive sound. Thanks for the review!
The load portion of the Amp Central and the React:IR 2 is very close when the React:IR 2 has the Mode button pushed in. The advantage to the React:IR 2 is that with the Mode button pushed out it features a slightly different frequency curve with more highs, very close to the Suhr Reactive Load. I posted a couple of graphs on The Gear Forum and The Gear Page comparing the React:IR 2 with the Red Seven Amp Central, Suhr Reactive Load and 2 of my Mesa cabs.
Does the effects loop work for adding effects after the amp in a live setting? Like, can you use it to add verb delay to amps without a proper effects loop into a real cab live?
Thanks for the review! I’m looking to buy one now and was wondering why you used the fractal as an audio interface. Is it because u have it set it up on the computer already? Just making sure that I can record directly with the react ir ii through USB without going into an interface Cheers!
I have the version 1, sounds great. IMHO another much better compared to the torpedo, a little bit less compared to suhr. Pretty curious to understand if this version is better, probably yes. Well done!
This. I have both the suhr RL and the captor because I use both for their different curves. Would be interesting to see if this could replace both for me.
No, it`s our own code. We were inspired of Two Notes Genome look (just liked controls look at first screenshots: compact and informative) when designed Amperium Live software, REACT:IR II software is just further development.
I had a resistive load and attenuator before, it was so bad, it sounded weak and wasn't tight because of the flat frequency response. It even had a lightbulb to indicate the attenuation and I didn't know back then, but a lightbulb acts like a compressor... so it sagged like crazy.
Sounds absolutely killer. I’m currently looking for a reactive load box for home use. I don’t need the built in IRs because of the way I record and re amp. Any suggestions? I do use a captor X both at home and live. Its form factor is important to my applications.
I am looking to replace my Boss Waza. It's been really good to me, but it's pretty beat up from traveling around. I was considering just buying a new one. This seems to have everything the Boss has. If i am understanding correctly, the attenuator is a separate fixed 8ohm jack, and the reactive load/IR is switchable? Great show, brother, killer riffs.
There is no mic placement, but you can choose IR loaded in the unit (IR upload can be done only via USB for speed considerations) for channels or mix up to 2 IRs per channel. Also full control of effect parameters. Basically almost all functionality is available via Bluetooth on phone.
So guitar sounded good I would have wished to hear some message boogie through it but it sounded good never the less. As bassist, I really wonder how well can it handle bass stuff....
