- In this hair wash and classic haircut video, you will catch @ArthurRubinoff using a freestyle technique that uses the finger-tips and comb to layer the hair from top to bottom thus allowing the hair to lay flatter and more naturally on the head.
NOTE: I requested that my hair be kept longer since I had another appointment scheduled :)
Many years have passed since the last time we were in NYC, and we finally made it back to visit a wonderful barbershop museum packed with history and character in New York City’s Upper West Side! The NYC Barber Shop Museum was opened in 2018 by 4th generation barber Arthur Rubinoff.
“Dream big, have a clear vision, and refer to it often.” -Arthur Rubinoff
Arthur is very proud to be a part of barbering history; a passion Arthur says he acquired from his father. “Without the past, we’re not going to have the future,” Arthur’s father told him, “Respect the past.”
Arthur’s father inspired him to collect vintage and antique memorabilia of the barbering industry. So when Arthur’s father passed away, Arthur made a promise to create a museum to honor his father and to give respect to all the barbers in the world💈❤️
Inside this shop you experience haircuts and wet shaves in a private setting surrounded by barbershop history and memorabilia that Arthur has been collecting for more than 25 years.
You will literally be sitting alongside an 1898 Americana prototype barbers chair, a 1901 towel steamer that would have also been used to sterilize shop instruments, and an antique clockwork barber pole. When you enter the shop, you are greeted with a photo of Arthur’s father and some of his barbering tools.
Arthur says barbershops used to be social clubs; a place where people came together. That is what NYC Barber Shop Museum provides - a place to come and enjoy time in peace and understanding.
When in New York City, check out the NYC Barber Shop Museum and learn some amazing barbering history whether visiting for a service or a tour. Arthur’s passion and great stories topped off with his hair care tips made this an awesome experience!
“I am proud that I am part of this history,” Arthur told us.

His calm confidence with the scissors is so relaxing man
Am I the only one that likes when the barbers talk? Not yelling obviously, just casual chatting or explaining.
Yes you are
Nah it’s chill I like it don’t listen to the other brain rot reply lmao
@@WRECKless_Games disagree the voice takes me out of the zone iykwim. Second thing is, just because someone disagrees with you does not mean it's brainrot.
Its videos like this that make me wish I still had hair.
Sorry for your loss
Technically you still do, they're just miniaturised.
I feel you broski 😅
I've said this for years! I miss haircuts!
Amen Brother, Amen!
This has to be one of the all-time best haircuts on this channel. The guy is like a magician. No nonsense approach with a spectacular result.
Mr. Rubinoff is the real deal. A barber’s barber. Great choice, Harry, and another beautifully produced video. As always, super videography.

🎉
I have a strong feeling this will end up being a Haircut Harry Classic. This guy is REALLY good.
15x already for me
This was great Arthur. No razzmatazz, just quiet, confident barbering. A good balance of traditional skills, with a modern twist here and there to liven things up. Thanks to Harry and his team for another great video.
No effort at all with grammar and spelling then?
@@yaboyj2191 I've made a couple of corrections just for you. It's good to know that there are folks out there with time in their busy schedules to correct others. It must make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
@@aicarnie Bet you took longer to write your second comment😂
@@yaboyj2191 Only to ensure that I struck the right sarcastic tone, and to avoid descending into profanity, which as I'm sure you know, is the sign of a limited intellect. 🤣
wow an internet argument on the haircut harry youtube site.
Liked as soon as he said "first let me wash your hair" 🔥🔥🔥💯
This barber is characterized by special techniques and professional charisma .
What i like about harry is that he goes to a barber when he really needs a haircut. Not just to make as many videos 👏👏👏
If you read the description it seems the opposite is true.
@@christophertitanium8424 because he did it one time it means he does that every time ? 😂
We all have eyes, his hair is usually long when he gets a haircut. Glad you’ve just found Harry, you have many great videos ahead of you as you get to know him!
This guy doesn’t make drama. He gets the job done!
The name "Arthur Rubinoff" sounds like he should be a concert pianist.
This guy oozes skill and confidence. Amazing work.
Also, props to the camera person. Always getting us the best shots but keeping out of the way of the “talent” and letting them do their thing. It takes a lot of observational skills while being very adept at anticipating what’s about to happen… rather unsung!
😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 3:08
I love the sound of the hair falling on the cape as it's being cut. So relaxing 🤤
❤❤❤❤❤
WHEN THE SHOP IS CLOSED THE MUSEUM COMES ALIVE
I hope so, and I want to go get a hair cut at a vintage price!!!
@@kittymervine6115 get some real silver coins and then you can pay in a couple coins
Such a great movie.
Ben Stiller would approve.
It’s a good one
LOVE the way he holds the shaving cream in his fingers and then uses his thumb to smoothly dip into the cream and apply it to the neck. I’ve never seen it done as cleverly as that.
Exactly. My barber from years back did the same. You obviously notice details like that that others probably say are insignificant. You know they may be insignificant but I think it’s pretty cool.
Yea, that was awesome. Wish I had hair, I miss going to barbershops especially ones that shave your neck.
I never noticed that even though I’ve watched this one over 20x. Makes me appreciate the barbers skill even more. So slick.
The neck massage with the towel was a neat touch!
One of the best haircuts you’ve ever had. A true master cuts your hair the way it falls naturally, rather than force it into a shape or style that will not last the hour. Good job!
Great skills, wish he had talked more, dude has that asmr voice
One of the best barbers 💈 I’ve ever seen on your video
Your videos being quite rare, I find myself with a little "guilty pleasure" smile on my face everytime I see one in my feed 😁
That feeling you get when you see the hot towel warmer, shaving lather dispenser, and Harry needs a shave… 😏
I enjoy the haircut videos a little bit more but I agree
Never got the appeal of the dispenser. "welcome to your shave, take a seat while I get some cream out of a leaf blower"
@@dylanjohnson4557 right? Always a bit of a letdown...
@@dylanjohnson4557 It dispenses heated lather which is quite a nice/soothing touch to finish off a haircut and makes the service feel that much more premium. That's the appeal Dylan
Now keep in mind this was after I had a delicious KFC meal
Arthur is a pro. No denying that.
I like this barber. No fuss no muss and he did a great job.
Finally, something unique!!
I love that pre and after haircut
honestly this barber was amazing he rly did u nice
Probably one of the coolest barbershops decor I’ve seen. Very nice visually.
Парикмахер мастер своего дела! И такой красавец!!! Всё видео глаз от него не овадила))) теперь тяжело заснуть))).
The haircut by mr. Rubinoff is one of the best... great barberman
Fantastic! Arthur is amazing. I was impressed also by the vest over the denim shirt. I would never think of that but it looks great on him.
From the videos I’ve watched this is possibly the best hair cut the guy is brilliant
A traditional work, without exaggerations for the camera or unnecessary idioms. I like this kind of videos.
Classic cut , classic sounds . One of your best videos.
Honestly, this is probably one of the best barber's out there.
What I truly love about this video is the skill that the barber shows with the scissors. Just amazing and mesmerizing to watch
Great distinct sense of atmosphere for a haircut with that setting. Seems like a nice place to just wind down with a haircut and just glance around at all the various imagery.
What a real treat to watch Arthur work. He's a professor of barbering. For the first 15mins we got to watch is absolute mastery of the scissors. Every cut was precise. Many techniques were demonstrated
Then he moved to the clippers. They weren't used to do the bulk of the work that you see alot of barbers doing. He was just as precise with the clippers as he was with his scissors.
You can really tell Arthur enjoys trying to master is craft.
Did u actually read ur comment b4 u post it?
@@yaboyj2191 or you?
Mr. Rubinoff, you are fantastic! My dad would have loved you because he could not find a barber in our small town that didn't just use clippers only with no scissors. (He finally ended up going to my hairstylist.) You show the proper use of clippers.
Harry, he made you look like a Master of the Universe! All you need is a suit and you're ready to go to Wall Street! Thanks for another wonderful video!
It felt like you were on a Tim Burton film set. Truly magical!
Amazing scissor over comb technique, so fast and steady, he makes it look so easy. And that’s exactly why it’s so satisfying to watch 👌🏻
They say that you mastered the craft when you make it look easy. He surely did, great professional.
we love a good scissor over comb.
The ASMR was great in this vid !!! I started watching and drifted off to sleep and didn’t know it ! Great vid as usual!
This is awesome. A barber who cuts with his eyes closed.
Dude there’s a fortune of memorabilia in that place. Barber pole alone are in the tens of thousands!
This is the most simple, but perfect haircut from a very professional barber. The way that he's moving and cutting the layers of the hair , is so satisfying. The man is a professional no doubts about that, great video thanks.
A true master at his trade!!! Thanks Harry you the man!
I’ve been cutting my own hair for years….I’m going to start going to the barbers again after watching this!
Thank you! I needed this to achieve rest and go to sleep.
I can only cross my fingers and hope that there is a shave video also cuz this man is truly a master at his Craft.
Fingers crossed Harry will be in the car seat chair behind for it🤞
Man harry this is probably number 1 in my top 5 coolest shops you have taken us to .. so thank you for all the good videos and places you take us to ❤️❤️
I am barber 15 years experience
I need work hair cut shop 🙏
Love seeing the barber use his own unique style, an absolute artist. Fantastic video!
Exactly, quite peculiar technique, for what is my perception, watching so many videos about barbering. Nothing super fancy as style, but for sure the whole atmosphere and skills of the barber, made this cut nice to watch.
I'm pretty sure that's how the regular hairdressers( not barbershops ) cut your hair, or is it just like that in western europe? 🤔
He is really professional.......no fancy stuff just a great cut and overall attention.
It’s about time you made it to nyc 👍🏻, welcome brother
1st time i see that a barber shop uses one time combs,, and gives it to you that super cool and original :) i like the concept
Harry always delivers the goods. Never disappoints 👌
This is an Instant Classic! I mean in the museum surrounded by so much history. The haircut is a bonus compared to just looking around at all decor and history.
Month late, but great over haircut and experience his provided. Been watching your videos for 7 years now! Never gets old! Thanks Haircut Harry!
That's so relaxing, I don't know how you manage not to nod off while getting these haircuts!
He does.
30 years ago I was right out of college working in midtown Manhattan and went to get my first haircut. I went to an old school Italian barber who cut hair just like this guy. My barber only asked my one question when I was in the chair for the first time…”Where do you work?” He then cut my hair perfectly suited to my age and job. The other nice thing was that he had a shoe shine guy right there in the shop to take your shoes and shine them to perfection.
You find the most unique and visually pleasing places.
That was a solid haircut, nicely done!
WELL DONE HARRY...great narrative of Arthur and his touching tribute to his father...the shop is a study in curated, eclectic and historical pieces of art!!! Arthur is a MASTER AT HIS CRAFT!!!
BRAVO GENTLEMEN AND
STEADY ON!!!
In this crazy world we live in a bit of normality ( that we can count on)still shines through.Great artist and proffesional.I hope that these sort of skilled people will still be around for many years
Superb Service & World Class Barber
Harry can run for office in NYC with that cut!
So glad to see you back. Hopefully you are doing well with some time off or what ever you have been doing.
This barber was so confident he could have told me to sit my ass down in the chair for a buzz cut and I would roll with it
Super Haircut Harry!👍
His style and skill reminds me of Cliff from Cliff's barber coral, he doesn't overdo it and has a good sense of everything without paying too much attention to detail, he keeps it natural yet precise.
This is it!
One of the best of all professionals.
He is just GREAT!!!!!!
the work that hairdressers/barbers do fascinates me to quite some degree. the way they move their hands all around, combing the hair this way and that, making such zippy cuts with their scissors... it all looks rather haphazard to my eyes (though very pleasant to watch)... and yet in the end, they have done something quite nice and neat and clean and symmetrical. it's fairly mysterious to me how they get there. i feel almost like i could understand the work of particle physicists better. a true art form in any case.
Great classic haircut. Neat and one of your best. Just needed some sounds of the 70’s on the background stereo.
Nice neck shave and hard to believe its often missed out nowadays…
"Your hair is perfect for a layer cut", and then Harry smiles!
What a maestro! Great to watch an experienced and skilful barber ply their trade.
Everyone wants a haircut Harry video once a week but if only hair grew back that fast
I get strong Cliff flashbacks from this one. Which is great, thank you!
As a person from NYC and someone who has always gone to very traditional barbershops in Manhattan this service and technique is very familiar. For me, it’s always a scissor cut with a straight razor edging. Great haircut and great video.
I grew up near New York...now I'll have to come here when I visit my folks. Haircut Harry is the reason...
The Professionalism is top tier. Straight to business with phenomenal results! Great video guys!
Another outstanding video of a master barber who knows exactly what he is doing. You can tell this is a barber who really enjoys what he does. Needless to say the results speak for themselves. Thank you Mr. Rubinoff, I really enjoyed watching you cut Harry's hair.
Such a skilled barber. Great 👌 video.
That first 10 minutes was pure bliss. The hair hitting the apron was unreal. Too bad it wasn't a pure scissor cut, that wouldve been insane.
I like the fact he uses individual combs then u get the comb as gift.
Hi Robert - thanks for watching 🙏🏼
I really like his technique. It's very asmr friendly. Good one Harry.
The sound of the hair falling on the mic at 7:30 was fantastic!! Great video again Harry!!
"Employees must wash hands" that should be everywhere!!!
Im more excited to watch a new vid of haircut harry then watch marvel movie 😂
Wow... some shop! I'd spend some time just looking around and listening to stories of all the items. Nice wash n cut.... relaxing as usual! Thanks Harry!!!
I know right?! Arthur has done an amazing job, and he definitely has a lot of great stories to share!
Just what I needed Harry after a stressful day at work, thank you!
I see it’s your medicine for tranquility too.
Great video harry as always, love to know about barber and his stories
Can we please acknowledge the fact the barber buys individual combs for his customers and then gifts them to them like yeah it’s just a comb big whoop but that’s way out of the way for the barber to do to make the customer feel better subtle things like that are why this guys probably balling as a barber I mean his shop looks incredible
That place is awesome, the wallpaper looks like it is actually textured instead of flat. cool stuff, cool haircut.
Good ole classic neck shave with haircut ! Love it
This guy is a pro.
Thank you Harry. I live in NYC and will go there.
that man is an artist
As always,professional,excellent content.Thank you!
I’ve watched so many of these episodes, I can’t remember my last haircut.
I used to go to a barber just like this man in Brooklyn. The staight razor shape up feels great especially in the summer.
for me it is the best hairdresser I have seen very simplistic but very effective
