The track was released in February as the song the post-punk legends would take to the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest if they had made it through the Irish selection process.
Hawaii is a very personal song which Lydon wrote as a poignant love letter to his wife Nora, who is living with Alzheimer’s. Back in 2020, Lydon revealed that he had abandoned a PiL album in order to provide care for her.
“It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most,” Lydon said of the new song, adding: “It’s also a message of hope that ultimately love conquers all.”

John Lydon has fought so many battles throughout his life, and he continues to live and be the wonderful person that he is. I admire him so much. I wish him endless love and healing. Rest in Peace, Nora.

Just saw John Lydon for his book tour, he was incredible, warts and all, he answered my question at Q&A picked from a box, he was lovely to speak with. He is so real, and was getting very emotional about Nora and Rambo and his childhood ❤
He a genuine guy and has always been so. It's a shame that that wasn't recognised a long time ago isn't it.

It’s funny to see him old and stumbling around a new song he wrote and he’s still one of the best frontmen of all time. That doesn’t change, And I think it’s because he’s always really told what he really saw and felt, even when that was ugly and unpopular. He did it with songs like “bodies,” and “God save the Queen” he’s doing it with his wife’s illness. That’s what makes his work go in the different direction to most and be so much better than most. I mean this is the guy that changed the entire direction of punk, into an art form that would call out wrongs others wouldn’t, and thought about “how things are and is that right,” far more than most. I’m glad he’s still singing. He’s still making the world confront fears like old age and watching a partner slip away. Things we don’t mention they’re so scary.

@Daveonarave for some reason I see him grieving appropriately. The story behind 'Alhoha' is amazing. He is a true hero and I hope he reads this. To see how interviewers from back in the day treated him, all the while he's telling the truth is a bit heartbreaking too, but he can also be admired for staying strong when the powers that be were against him.

At Christmas 1977 when still with the Sex Pistols played a free children's Christmas party/concert/disco in Huddersfield for the children of striking Fireman and Miners with the Pistols handing out cake, food and gifts so the kids Christmas could be a little better 😀💞

@@micksmusicchannel , I follow Johnny sinds he started in the seventies, and saw him in concert in Belgium in november 2023, he and his music survived the time, it was one of the best concerts i saw. I have nothing more than grate respect fore Johnny, the man that never chanced and i have a big amount of respect fore this great man and music maker...so much thanks fore give us the pleasure of listen and the vision of Johnny...There only can be one Johnny...Hope to see again performing in Belgium..

I went to all their concerts. Johnny's really funny, and intellectual. Actually Sid was quite shy. Happy memories. Punk was sooo misunderstood & got a bad rap. But hey, Johnny's still value & he's making Nora proud. ❣
