    For a 1810 Kg car with safety and practicality as main priorities , the time posted on the track is really good. Volvo and Polestar have done a good job !! Thank you foxyobrown.

      No, like I said, the record was done with the inline 6

    I own a 16 V60 Polestar and this car is a B road car not really a track star. Its the perfect daily driver when set 10/10 on the ohlins and a great family hauler. The great thing about this car is the limited numbers Volvo produced. Here in the states we only received 246 V60/S60 Polestars so they are extremely rare. I have yet to see another one on the road. This car attracts a lot of attention and most people have no clue what it is. If your lucky enough to own a Polestar you will love it

    • @trevormacdougall9385

      Hey Boodox...I own the same car as you here in Canada. V60 in the Rebel Blue. Might have been the first person in Canada to own one due to limited supply you mention. Love the car. First Volvo ever. I think about keeping it long term since the turbo six is no more. I've never changed the Ohlins. What have you found with respect to adjusting them?

    • @v60polestar88
      @v60polestar88 8 років тому

      Never adjusted them either. I like to 10/10 factory setting and I don't plan on tracking the car. I also prefer the straight 6 too. It's a shame that they killed the 5 and 6 cylinder volvo engines. Lots of information www.swedespeed.com though and I think there's even a write up on how the car feels with different suspension settings. cheers

    • @aramiris
      @aramiris 8 років тому +1

      why is everybody bashing the 4 cyl? its not like the 6 cyl is some sort of wonder engine never seen before.

    • @v60polestar88
      @v60polestar88 8 років тому

      TheArrogantOne It's because it's a inline six and there nothing smoother than a inline 6 with a turbo. That's the reason BMW has always used them over V6 engines. The new 4 from Volvo is as smooth or refined as the 6 and it doesn't sound as good either, but it's still a good motor

    • @aramiris
      @aramiris 8 років тому +1

      yes, but a 4 cyl consumes less, and it weighs less
      I know for a fact that putting together the inline 6 and the old 6 speed auto gearbox was a nightmare which left no more space in the engine compartment.
      P.S. how the engine sounds is of least concern.

    I felt quite relaxed with the GT86 on this track but I'm not really sure if I will go there with my new V60 "Polestar" (3.0 T6 with 330hp upgrade)... are the SuperSports all-day-tires for you?

    do you feel that you were really pushing it to the limite or what you feel is your safe limite and that the car is much more capable (not an insult)

    • @foxyobrown
      @foxyobrown  9 років тому +1

      I was pushing it, but not to the limit. I always drove in my comfort zone. I only have like 30 laps of experience on the ring. For example I really messed up Adenauer Forst. The problem with this car is that its just too heavy for trackdriving. After one lap, the tires really started to slide/squeal, after two laps in a row the transmission shifted automatically already at 5500 rpm to protect itsself from overheating and the brake pedalfeel got longer and inconsistent. If I would drive on my personal limit (not the cars limit) I would be able to drive BTG sub 8:30 (the car would be able to go faster though, but there is just no point in wrecking it).

    • @TheNinjappa
      @TheNinjappa 9 років тому

      Nice and cheers, good to know the downside of making a v6o into a sleepercar. True that there is no point of wrecking your own car just to do a hotlap and putting it on youtube and you probrally have more track experience then most people including me.
      Hopefully you put more rides on youtube.

    • @foxyobrown
      @foxyobrown  9 років тому +1

      +Joel C Thanks. The tires really suffered a lot. I only drove 8 laps in total that day and the tire wear was huge. So I think I wont track the Polestar anytime soon, but its still a great dailydriver!

    • @glockmanish
      @glockmanish 8 років тому

      Brakefade, low grip and transmission temps sound like fixable issues. Do you plan to address them? Last year we added a transmission oilcooler additional to to the water-oil-heatexchanger already in place in a V70II R with a tf80sc (6 speed geartronic). Brakefade can be addressed with different brakepads. And the grip ... well ... some proper tires like michelin cup in all the width the rim can take. All this can also be driven on the street without compromises. Although the PSS are hard to beat as an allround tire, I love it.

    • @foxyobrown
      @foxyobrown  8 років тому

      Dennis Bartsch no plans to adress these issues, as its my daily driver and every modification is a compromise. I habe a Cayman R for track duties

    Are these not limited edition in Europe? I don't see a number on the steering wheel like those sold in North America.

      Yes these are limited in Europe as well, but they are not numbered here. We got 100 in switzerland. As far as I know, the US Polestars are the only ones that are numbered.

    Great video, thank you!!
    So what did that lap make your LPH jump to.
    I only once went 200. It was in my 94 850 wagon, fwd, non turbo. My brother thought it would be fun to loose me on the country roads, he said he checked his mirrors and all he could see was my lights, checked again and I was behind him.
    Lucky was my middle name, lol guess one is NOT to do 220+ (stopped watching speedo at 205) on winter rubber... (Didn't know) then a cop drove by JUST as I resumed normal speed. Giggle

    Could you get the car go in to oversteer purposely? I am looking to purchase a "semi"
    performance wagon car in the US but they dont offer that much
    I love the new Audi S4 Wagon, but there isnt any. I also like the BMW 3 Series RWD Wagon, but theres only a AWD 328i instead of 335i. so I am very interested in this Volvo. I was driving the V60 for a few days, it was amazing.
    the only thing I am wondering now is that does the new 8SPD overheat like the old 6SPD?
    Can it be thrown in to oversteer and have some fun? since the new "Tune" for hardlex system sends a lot more power to the rear and lastly. If I have 265 section tires in the front will it change anything?
    Did you adjust the dampers to Dry Track settings? F:10 R: 5? how about the track alignment
    humm.so many questions

    • @foxyobrown
      @foxyobrown  8 років тому

      K Li yes the dampers were adjustet to 10/5, alignement stock. no, oversteer would not be possible, it is to much front biased. But its still good fun. The 8 speed is better then the 6 speed but I dont know if it is better considering overheating. 265 Tyres in the front probably wont fit the rims or they will likely scrub.

    • @kaiwenli3432
      @kaiwenli3432 8 років тому +1

      foxyobrown Yes 265 tires I'll have a new set of after marketing wheels with correct offset with 265/245.
      and its going to give the front end more grip, reduce understeer, I'll have the correct alignment to go with it. trying to make it easier to rotate and tend to oversteer
      IMO if they dont upgrade the cooling its going to overheat quicker since the 8SPD has a closer ratio for the gearbox!
      Aw, its not possible for oversteer :( but doesnt the Golf R uses the same system and you'll be able to do a Scandinavian flick and throw it in to oversteer?

    • @foxyobrown
      @foxyobrown  8 років тому

      K Li you can force it to oversteer on wet track but not on dry track

      I own this are and it's a very quiet car. He has it in sports mode which opens up the exhaust to more flow and noise.

    • @vtl1349
      @vtl1349 8 років тому

      I have feeling that Volvo plays these speakers game too. Our older Volvos with 5 cyl ('02 2.4 N/A and 05 2.5T) sound more or less alike, while new '16 XC60 with, again, 5 cyl sounds quite different. It reminds me a big US-made V8, but I know this is still old 5 cyl and it can't sound like that.
      Also XC60 is a quieter car in general, until you hit a highway and turn on some metal. It feels like noise suppression algo in software can't lower road noise and play that kind of music at the same time, it produces noticeable and unpleasant interference.
      I don't want to mention a rusty underneath on a 5 month old car, but our oldest 15 y.o. true-swede does not have any. Ford-era Volvo sucks.

    • @v60polestar88

      +vtl1349 Depending where you live all cars rust. My 03 Nissan Maxima had no rust at all while I lived in Florida. Moved back to Massachusetts and rust everywhere. The Ford chassis isn't the problem, snow and salted roads are
