I love just how many references there are in this game, not just to mainstream stuff but to more obscure games too, like the chainsaw guy being a reference to the sawer from cry of fear and the skeleton popping out of the barrel being a king's field reference
I always saw the chainsaw psycho as a reference to Resident Evil 4’s Dr. Salvador. Maybe it’s the war cry he makes every time he swings his chainsaw, I don’t know.
The rabbit at 24:45 is a reference to monty python and the holy grail where a rabbit known as 'the beast' guards a cave entrance and is also killed with a holy grenade. Hence the key of the beast and holy water one shotting it.
23:23 is a reference to Diablo. In that game, when you break barrels sometimes a skeleton or a zombie will literally just come out of it just like this!
Couple of suggestions, even if some of these might be stretching the definition a little bit. Lakeview Cabin Collection - Bit more of a puzzle horror game, but it'd probably make a fun video. Cila's Art Games - Yuki Onna, Aka Manto, Hanako etc. Ps1 style survival horror inspired by Japanese urban legends Dreadout - Its basically just Indonesian Fatal Frame and its a lot of fun, especially keepers of the dark. Found Horror Game 11 - Super unfinished, super jank, but its an anthology game with a lot of interesting ideas. Strange Man Series - Crooked Man, Sandman, Boogieman, Hanged man, A series of really fun RPG Maker horror games. Even though they lean more into the puzzle aspect. Witch Hunt - Eurojank hunting game where you hunt down supernatural creatures in a weird village. Pathologic 1 or 2- Bit of a stretch, but an intriguing series of games where you're the outsider in a town that's slowly going insane. Penumbra Overture/Black Plague- The original series from the creators of Amnesia the Dark Descent. Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion - A really good mix of cute and creepy with some genuinely good horror aspects.
Ehh, I wouldn't go with pathologic. They're good games, but for a video it would be hard to make interesting in his video style since it's such a slow burn.

Having no weapon in a horror game is definitely scarier, as in most cases it means the game is going to be a hide and seek simulator so there is real fear of me dying of boredom.

As for the style of this video, I really enjoy the skits and bits, always making me laugh whenever you made one, really liked the ones where you show yourself! I did find this video more "memey" which I usually don't like but you made it enjoyable even though there was more "memey" stuff in the video, great job and keep it up!

Shit.
5:35 are you talking about Goya's painting "Saturn Devouring His Son" when you say "the most disturbing shit that no one has ever hung on their wall"? Funny thing about that... Goya was unmedicated and deeply in need of mental health care at the end of his life. At the age of 72, he bought a house outside Madrid, became a recluse, and painted 14 wall-sized murals, all unnamed, directly on the walls of his house. These, including SDHS, were private, likely never meant to be seen publicly, and are also likely revealing to his state of mind in the last few years of his life. So, yeah... "the most disturbing shit that [Goya painted directly on the walls of his] house". It's intimidating to see in person, something like 140x80cm (55x30") and way too detailed...
Hey Indeimaus, survival horror has kinda transformed into action horror (seems devs don't want to make slow paced games these days). I hope RE Village DLC is somewhat survival horror like. Besides, how bad can a game be if one of its bosses references Monty Python?

This was great! My suggestion for a Survival Horror game that you haven't played would be Siren, the original PS2 release, not 'Blood Curse', they are completely different games despite BC being called a remake. It's directed by the director of the original Silent Hill, and is one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've ever had, in any genre. It requires a lot of patience up front because it plays so unlike anything else, and is truly challenging, but I promise that patience is rewarded in the long run. I would recommend using a spoiler-free walkthrough specifically and solely to be aware of the things you will need to do in certain levels in order to unlock alternate routes and complete the entire story and timeline, because playing it 100% is intended, and vital to understanding the game, and some of the puzzle elements are just way too easy to overlook completely without knowing about them, even though there aren't that many of these kinds of actions total and they aren't really part of the normal gameplay... it's just really a pain if you miss one and don't even realize it and then end up stuck way later with no clue where to even look. Otherwise though it's best if you know as little as possible about it and figure out how to play best yourself; it has a very Dark Souls-like difficulty curve where it feels insane at first, but all it takes is some patience and experimentation and accumulating knowledge, and everything falls into place mentally. If you appreciate the genre as much as you seem to, I would think you would enjoy it a great deal. It's really a singular masterpiece, and also quite a personal accomplishment to see it through to the end. It does a better job of making the player feel weak and powerless and genuinely afraid than any other horror game I've played, giving you a variety of characters to use most of whom are normal useless people without any kind of weapon.... one of the characters is even a little girl... her levels got to me in a really visceral way. Again, few games ever have felt as rewarding to play through as Siren did for me. I think it should be played by everyone who loves survival horror, it's just as essential as any other game. tldr; SIREN, PS2 version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From Super Metroid to The World Ends With You. It's been a while since I caught one of your videos in a short time, but from the soundtrack choice alone, I knew it was gonna be another good one.
thank you indeimaus I actually got the game after watching the first 10 mnts of your video and I'm loving it thus far. I really needed a survivor horror that genre is drying up atm and it's sad as it's my favorite genre in gaming :(
Ok, I kinda unironically love all the nods and sht in this game. Amnesia wall meat, James Sunderland with a fkin pipe, the killer bunny from Monthy Pyhton's Holly Grail, the dickwits in bathrobes from Blood Also, the youtube is confused- it thinks it was Amnesia the Dark Descent
“That painting of that guy eating…somethin…” You mean Saturn eating HIS SON? Love that painting(s, there’s 2 famous ones), but it’s overused in so many horror games.
Muah! I think I've watched all of these long format videos 10 times each. UA-cam just autoplays them for me and I don't have a problem with it. You have the best format for watching games on youtube. Cheers!
There is a mystery/folk horror game from Switzerland called Mundaun. It has a bit of a survival aspect but it lives mainly off the incredible atmosphere and the style (it's all hand drawn). Not your usual youtube video style but I think it's definitely worth checking out
I enjoyed this one. All your videos are entertaining to me. You got style budy! So dont stress on making huge video every time. Somtimes, a smaller game can still be alot of fun. Hell, I would love to see another movie review from you too, one of these days.
give me all you got, those survival horror games also follow twitter.com/indeimaus

Seeing him use the holy water on common enemies pained me.

Indei coming in strong with that Bomberman 64 soundtrack. For real underrated songs. Thanks for the content buddy always a blast.

Great video man, Love your vids, keep up the great work and take care. Happy New Year!
5:40 "what a mansion!" -Barry probably.
24:45 BRING FORTH THE HOLY WATER!
thank you indeimaus I actually got the game after watching the first 10 mnts of your video and I'm loving it thus far.
I really needed a survivor horror that genre is drying up atm and it's sad as it's my favorite genre in gaming :(
Great video! I loved the Pyrocynical reference
Actual banger, congrats on 10 years!
Congrats on 10 years indei, glad to have your channel, hears to another 10 more
Bish, you about to be the first channel I join >=[
Also, was not expecting a Monty Python reference in a survival horror game
Ok, I kinda unironically love all the nods and sht in this game.
Amnesia wall meat, James Sunderland with a fkin pipe, the killer bunny from Monthy Pyhton's Holly Grail, the dickwits in bathrobes from Blood
Also, the youtube is confused- it thinks it was Amnesia the Dark Descent
Thanks for all the amazing content Maus. I haven't been here the whole 10 years but have enjoyed your content since I hoped on board.
Happy 10 years!
“That painting of that guy eating…somethin…”
You mean Saturn eating HIS SON?
Love that painting(s, there’s 2 famous ones), but it’s overused in so many horror games.
Muah! I think I've watched all of these long format videos 10 times each. UA-cam just autoplays them for me and I don't have a problem with it. You have the best format for watching games on youtube. Cheers!
Great quality as always! It would be fun to revist the Amnesia games for shocktober or something
WHAT A MANSION. Also hey, I'm 100 percent here for you finding either the hidden gems or stunningly compelling flops.
There is a mystery/folk horror game from Switzerland called Mundaun. It has a bit of a survival aspect but it lives mainly off the incredible atmosphere and the style (it's all hand drawn). Not your usual youtube video style but I think it's definitely worth checking out
this game had so many references to other games. resident evil, silent hill, dead space. even diablo with the butcher boss.
kinda neat
Also to "Amnesia: the dark descent" (acid and wall of flesh puzzle)
I enjoyed this one. All your videos are entertaining to me. You got style budy! So dont stress on making huge video every time.
Somtimes, a smaller game can still be alot of fun.
Hell, I would love to see another movie review from you too, one of these days.
I've only been here for about 4 of the 10 years but I've been nothing but proud of you
10:55, very reminiscent of the Butcher encounter in the first Diablo game.
