I mean this album went 10 x platinum and was the biggest album in Australia in 1995. And in a 2013 poll the country voted her the 3rd best voice overall (first among women) in Australian music history. So she’s pretty much seen as Australian music royalty.
I remember it was when I was 13, around 1996, my dad took me to a record store and said that I could pick up a cassette tape. I looked around for ages, couldn't make up my mind. And finally I was attracted by her album cover, and picked it up. The first song that I listened to was this one, still remember it very well until this day.
Oh, funnily enough, same sort of memory. I grabbed a tape for the cover too, only difference is the first song that I listened to was Super Mario Bros by Mr. Bungle. I don't...remember anything since that day.
Ftr. I am a man. This song speaks to me. I'm not a wimp... 'i love you baby'. But it's such a great song. I wish i could say we've all been there . I'm there. There is no rational escape. At my time of life, there really is no escape. ...and the sense of desperation is exquisitely encapsulated in this song. Tina... i have followed your career. This is your best work. I doubt you follow these comments, but believe me, you have touched me tonight.
I'm with you man you don't have to be a girl to love this it hits you without knowing what is going on. I love listening to her singing this it's fantastic song great artist
I am from Russia and I like this song. This woman is strong on the singing aspect. I saw her on the show where Darren Hays - ( popular singer and the best singer in the World ) was singing for her this song!!!! 🎉❤😊😊😮🎉❤🎉😊way! O my God! There are attractive and the best!
This song is a masterpiece in mood, tension, build up and release. Everything is constructed to perfection. Goosebumps inducing. Brings tears to my eyes it’s so beautiful.
Tina Arena has an incredible voice I’ve loved for many years. I don’t understand why she wasn’t heavily promoted in the U.S. She’s huge in Europe and Australia! Love this song. So excited to see her in NYC in November this year! A big check mark on my bucket list! ❤
She didn’t sell her soul so wasn’t part of that sick group who destroyed children’s lives with their s@t@nic ways. I’m guessing that’s why she moved from Australia. Beautiful girl 😍 🤩
I just seen "Who do you think you are" with Tina Arena on my feed and it brought me here. Omg...I totally forgot about this song. How could I? Brought back so memories.
Great music memory from back in '94 August 1994 It sounds as fresh and as good in June 2024 as it did when it was released for the first time ⏲️ Good music is like fine wine and whiskey It simply gets better with age
I remember the first time I heard this song I was 12 and visiting my grandad in Preston (I’m from London uk) the words made my world stop. One of the greatest songs of the 90s (and Jesus is she beautiful)
I remember watching this on Video Hits as a kid and being blown away by how amazing it was. I can never forget this song 😍 there are very few singers that are on her level. This song is what perfection sounds like 🙌🙌🙌
This album was the first cassette tape I ever had. I got it from a radio stations DJ van here in Kansas City when I was in 1st grade. This song gave me hope that my mom could leave my abusive dad. (She did). I played it on my play school karaoke machine every chance I could, even show and tell at school(my teacher was puzzled 😂). This song will for ever hold a special place in my heart.
This song means so much to you. I love that. Tina is a Melbourne girl and my dancing school friends went to school with her. I even saw her as Maria in their high school production of West Side Story. I feel so proud of her that you heard her in Kansas City.
I remember my fourteen year old self singing my heart out to this, not really understanding what it was about. 33 year old me definitely does. Amazing song.
Amazing storyteller, the ad libs are everything. Love her in the low range, then the key change and the gorgeous run from low to high: "should have known passing through gate... that once inside I could not escape..." Still stunning. 😍🤩
Still one of my most favorite songs of all time!!! Tina Arena, you have it all, awesome voice, beautiful looks, great presence, don't understand why your management team didn't do a better job promoting you. You have a world class talent!!!
They probably told her she would have to dye her hair blonde and wear skimpy clothes and sing about her vagina to compete with American artists on radio if she wants more funding from them. 🙄 Music has become so generic, be glad she's not a cog in the machine
The Superb Tina Arena with her uniquely powerful voice delivering this song in tremendous fashion, an artist who can leave you feeling exhilarated and in full party mood. She’s the kind of performer the music industry is in desperate need off these days, a true talent in every sense and she sounds very similar to the magnificent Olivia Newton John. This is a timeless classic that will still sound outstanding in the years to come. Much love and appreciation to an awesome artist from a time when music was music. ❤❤❤
Her voice is no way near what it was. She tries to make up for it by belting louder but she's lost the smooth, soulful sound. Still a very beautiful woman though.
This song has followed me throughout my life. I remember the first time I heard it in the 90s, I was a kid, but it was so powerful. I Iistened to it over and over again. It's one of the most stand out songs of our generation!
Good song🎉❤I love this song then I saw Darren Hays and Tina Arena together in her show - song "Chains" for Tina Arena! He is attractive for Tina and good songs! I am from Russia. They are both beautiful people!
J ignorais que c'était elle qui chantait ce morceau tellement GÉNIAL !!!!!!! Et méconnu !!!!! A l époque, pourtant je l'avais entendu que très rarement !!!!!
I don’t know why I woke up with this song in my head and I had to play it and I cried thinking of this life and the years gone by. you were my first idol when I was so, so young, 1976 (?) maybe even before abba I worshipped you and your incredible talent.
I played this at my sister Nerolies funeral in 2008 she loved Tina areana and I put don’t ask her album on her headstone so she can listen to Tina arena anytime she wants in heaven
I remember seeing her perform this on either David Letterman or Jay Leno in 95. Went to the store and got the cassette single. Still loving her in 2023.
Probably the most under rated australian singer. The crap they exploit these days and back when this song was first out. Shows what the industry is really like.
Not sure about most underrated!! My memory was of her ego being way over-entitled and turning her back on Oz!! Only remotely humbled because she realised that when beauty goes so does fame in Europe!!!
I was travelling back from one our gigs, at 2 AM ,75 odd miles away in Dundee, Scotland, when i fiirst heard this, ...I was blown away , a simply magical blues track delivered , brilliantly by Tina Arena, I nearly stopped the car to enjoy it better , but was doing 70 mph trying to get home ...a great old memory this was...
I read comments about Tina been underrated etc. She's not underrated. She is great known especially in Europe. Her success in France has been huge!Great career, beautiful voice and gorgeous woman.

Gosh I remember hearing this song, I was around 9, safe and far from the mine field grounds of love. Here I am at 38 and living this song, fading into the despair.
Remember hearing this for the first time on Top of the Pops in the UK. At the time I was moving away from chart music to exploring grunge/punk rock/industrial and yet when I first heard this I was blown away by it. To me it was the best song I'd heard for a long time and was certain it would hit number 1. Never did, peaked at 6... instead we had some forgettable Oasis song. Still say this is one of the most perfect songs ever.
Im a 32 year old lorry driver belting this out while i drive. No shame. Its a tune that high note ❤
I just turned 32 in july😂
I can picture that lol....Sing it like no ones watching lol lol
It’s a good song, don’t bother with what high school told u what is Kool or not. Be yourself
Don't think she got enough recognition as in my humble opinion she was the best of all the Australian female singers and gorgeous as well.
I mean this album went 10 x platinum and was the biggest album in Australia in 1995.
And in a 2013 poll the country voted her the 3rd best voice overall (first among women) in Australian music history.
So she’s pretty much seen as Australian music royalty.

And the second one 'Sorrento Moon'?
I had this song on a compleation cd called More Music 4. It is a great song.
