Pretty sad that there are so many negative comments! No sugar, too much this and that...clearly everyone makes it differently. Some like it more spicy, or salty, or sweet, etc... so go make it yourself instead of criticizing other ppl. I think it looks great and I'm sure it taste amazing.
I suck at making tham, so I just gave up entirely and just have my mom or sister make it haha. It's either too sour or salty. I can't get that nice perfect taste with pa dak..
Perfect. Yummy, yummy. I have not made papaya salad for a couple years now, so just wanted to make sure I do not forget to pick up any ingredients at the Asian market before I go and thought I would check out a recipe that looked about the same as I make it. This is almost identical to how I make it. Thank you for sharing this video and cheers.
- Each person, family, village, region & country has their own style, taste - so, we cannot judge other. - I m Thai from Central Region but I love very hot & spicy green papaya salad with plaaraa/fermented fish + salted crabs.
I attended a Lao New Year celebration a few years ago and tried this salad there. It was delicious. Thanks for posting this video so I can try to make it at home!
I make papaya salad in so many ways. There’s no wrong way! This way is good when you’re craving that sour papaya taste. Honestly it depends on your preference. There is no wrong style.
I have gotten HOOKED on this salad!!!! I don't add any sugar though...I want it all day everyday with everything 🤣 and the raw veggies and rice noodles
It looks so yummy. I like it the way it looks light, bright not black or sticky becaus too much tamarine and too much crab paste. i like this recipe. will try. thanks
Shannon Bliayang I,m fr, Thailand I never put crab or shrimpaste in my papaya salad, ( I did not like the smell of it since I was little) I used fish sauce tho. In my town I can get fresh papaya and I made the salad quite often. It’s always good with fried chicken wings and sticky rice. It sweet rice, you soaked it and steamed it. My kids love it.
Dang Coppock I’m in Minnesota.. I don’t like that either. We used to be able to buy home made Padak from the temple but not anymore. I’d love to find a way to keep in contact with you. Maybe we can send each other food??
Looks delicious!! This is my first to do. I always buy from Laotian store . But this time I will buy all ingredients and do myself. But I don’t c u put garlic in there thought .
She probably like the smell of the lime. However, don’t leave the lime in the papaya for too long or it will make the papaya taste bad, like a bitter taste.

I love the way you slice the papaya instead of using the shredder. Keep it up.
Thank you so much for the support ❤️
I love to grate it by hand too! It has the best texture and the sauce clings onto the papaya better.

Question: What if who you wanna make it for likes it so spicy it can melt through the floor? How many chili peppers to add then?
Depends on the chili peppers used. Not all have the same level of spiciness. In my case, 8-10 peppers will do.
Ilove Thai food salad 😘😘😘

Okay idk what that baby watermelon is called. Idk what those sauces are. Can we get an ingredient list up in here?
Please see under description for ingredients. I think you’re referring to cherry tomatoes as for the “baby watermelon”

Ohh ..really memorible for me when i was in hostel...nice its look tasty...
Hi, do i need to soak shredded papapa in cold water? Thank you.
No, you don’t have to. However, soaking in cold water does make it crispy. I usually do if I bought one that is soft texture. Thanks.
Looks good
We always cooked the eggplants and i never knew we can eat it fresh hahah
Things that get me confused that I’m still a kid but my grandma leave limes in my papaya.
Why do they do that?
Evvan Manithong I’m not sure in your case but I was told by a family member that does the same likes the lime smell in the papaya salad.
She probably like the smell of the lime. However, don’t leave the lime in the papaya for too long or it will make the papaya taste bad, like a bitter taste.
I wish there is sound to this video, but picture worth a thousand words... thanks for sharing
Wow it’s look tasty 😋
Normally, Laos make papaya. Really?
