I have seen this video maybe 20 times now over the last years, and it continues to impress me. It makes you almost wistful, but in a beautiful way. Everything here fits together: the images, the words, the music. It is perfect and pure. So tasteful, so inspiring.
Very true, I think about this video and miss it,,,,,,, I watched it over 40 times. It’s truly magical it inspires me every time.
The art direction, the music, the pacing, her delivery (and the part where she looks down pensively, saddened for no reason at all) - poetry in motion.
Well said.
i thought the same thing.
..the first time I watched this, i caught myself being captivated the moment she "looks down pensively"
..I seriously had to pause it and go back and watch that moment again and again.
..i didn't know whether to be happy, to feel sad or to fall in love with her...
- OR - all of the above.
there's just something so beautiful, organic and human about that moment...
You have a simple mind. Easily led.
@@jenns.5791 It's the guilt. She looks down because she's thinking: "Holy f@ck, this cannot be right ... but I'll take it ... I'll take it. Sorry, Lord, I'm taking it!".
*burst into pensive tears*
There's your f@cking poetry :)
It was more like a depressing art film.
Never thought looking at a beautiful home could feel so profound, like I was staring into the vast universe, but alas, they were only furniture and rooms... I know the music is a heavy part in it, but there is something about harmonious and regal spaces that make you feel close to the universal "divine".
I am not focused, but i feel something behind the words
Soundtrack is amazing indeed. It's Max Richter
careful consideration and surrounding yourself with beautiful things (not just aesthetically but also with stories and meaning) does a whole lot of good to you 😉
@Taps fan why are you here then, merely looking at 'fucking houses'?!
@Taps fan God forbid someone is passionate about something. Chill out.
For those who are wondering-
"On the Nature of Daylight - Max Richter"
Thank you
Thank you so much
Thanks
Thank you! 🤗
Thanks!
"It's a very happy house."
Background music: I am gonna kill this house's career.
😅😅😅
I couldn't help crying... watching this video I felt like this house is an old friend I've just met again after a long time.
Exactly. The natural gloomy light reminded me of places I've been when I was a child. It's nostalgic and melancholic.
it's not the house; it's the music, the light work, the movement of the camera. Come there on a regular day, it's just a grand, lonely, sad place....and such a waste of valuable, life-changing resources...what a waste of life
Haha so true! Well said
@@eandean Exactly. The natural gloomy light reminded me of places I've been when I was a child. It's nostalgic and melancholic.
@@markcharney3556 "come there...."
Do you live there? how often have you visited that house?
I'd like to 'go here', will you give me the exact address please?
Beyond mesmerising. This is by far the most beautiful home I’ve ever seen. No words can describe it’s haunting elegance. A true reflection of the owner. The background music could have been written with this house in mind because it was in perfect harmony.
When Ms. Uniacke looked down and for a brief moment allowed us to see the undoubtedly immense personal struggle in all that was involved for such a gorgeous success, it was impossible not to be so moved by her emotion... Thank you, Ma'am...
You're welcome. Now go back to your mobile home. You've been duped.
@@sharksport01 Well it beats "Selling Sunset"
Such a sad melancholic vibe to this house. I don't know why, it's beautiful though. But as somebody who's dealt with depression, I've become very aware and sensitive to my surroundings and as soon as I go somewhere I know immediately if the place will lift up my spirits or bring me even further down.
Kat G. The music.
Kat G. What would this place do for you?
Yes the tone was to be timeless ethereal but it came off as lonely solitude
Kat G. So tru
I do think the music, although beautiful, sets the mood. Maybe watch without the sound off and see if you feel differently
“It’s a very happy house to me.” However the song chosen is one of the saddest songs ive ever heard. But absolutely beautiful.
I don't find it sad at all. I find it so full of joy. It's called On the nature of daylight, and to me it's a representation of how beautiful the changing daylight is. It's like age, every age has its charm. I can see all my beautiful memories flash before me. I thi K this episode especially represented the house so beautifully. The way a home can represent so many different positive things, bot with lots of people in it, or just the homeowner. You know, creating memories there, and also painting a picture of who you are as a person through the interiors you design
It's not a 'song.' Songs have words.
@@primrosedahlia9466 Whenever I listen to this with my eyes closed, all sorts of flashes come to me. It is the closest thing to meditation for me =)

@MoZoLo oooo can you link to it????
I might be biased by saying this is probably my favorite in the series only because Rose Uniacke is one of my favorite designers. This home is simply perfect in every way, shape and form..
The House itself is a piece of art even without the furnishings. The sensuality of the stairs, the garden, the simplicity of the bathroom. Love the heavy, tall doors and windows. Rose Uniacke designer extraordinaire.
yes, extraordinary
Something about this video has silence that resonates so deeply and yet absolutely cracks you open. Like water freezing into ice. Like the smell of blown out birthday candles.
the other "my place" videos are mesmerizing but this one has such a rich emotional dimension to it
I watched this video several times. I found the video along with the music to be spiritual and touching. The lighting in the rooms was perfect yet haunting...taking me back to a house i owned and a house i grew up in.
Understated, yet stunningly and poetically beautiful. A graceful and lovely interior space. I love Rose Uniacke and the music selected was superb for the space.
K O I wouldn't call that house understated by any means.... It is sophisticated luxury, and indeed poetic...
She is magnificent, and subsequently her home........( monastical, tranquil, serene, harmonious.....), and I love how the music of Max Richter fills the silent spaces. Superb.
This is beautiful and the cinematography is 10/10 but I wish there were more shots that actually showed the rooms instead of just the most pretty shot they could get in the room
same.
Weird thing is I watched Disconnect yesterday & it had this exact melancholic piece playing throughout the entire film..life is funny like that. Such a gorgeous, soulful home & the editing is absolutely beautiful 🖤
Gorgeous. Filmed so well you can feel the house, what it would be like to walk through it alone. I can see why she is happy there even when it's empty.
The amazing brick like secret door in the internal garden room....the pure white orchids, the historic water feature and ficus lyrata reaching towards the sky and bringing nature in ......the cello.....the cinematography......the pacing....of pans....and of words....gorgeous......
I heard this cello soundtrack in the movie Manchester by the sea.
It makes me feel the old-time has come back suddenly.
Thank you.
That house transport me to another place, so beautiful, the pallet of colors let your eyes relax, and the garden area, is a little of heaven.
If you liked Rose's house then you'll love what's coming up. We have two brand new episodes of In Residence launching this week. Keep your eyes peeled!
I keep watching this over and over.
This house is so melancholic to me
Not crazy about the art, but in every other way - knocked out, I am.
Superbly proportioned rooms (the volume is to die for) and very elegantly designed too. That interior courtyard garden with the trompe-l'oeil door is absolutely charming.
She has such a lovely way of speaking
Oh I forgot, that grand magic brick door..so cool!
The house is cold and barren, but it's the presentation- the music, the camera movement- that makes it wonderfully otherworldly
Well balanced poetic interior. Vilhelm Hammershøi would've loved this to pieces, and so will I.
It's not balanced at all, most of the rooms...all the contents are below the half of the volume. Except for the plant area, and its cluttered.
SharkSport its not a minimalist style house if that’s what you think when you said it’s cluttered. It’s well balance and some of the room isn’t full of furniture eg, the hallway, the bathrooms. In fact the garden is the most cluttered I’d say.
@bolderiks thanks for this comment. I had never heard of Vilhelm Hammershøi so I looked him up. I plan to learn more about him and his artwork so thank you! And I'm of Danish descent so I'm especially interested.
@@rmonson5002 Hammershøi's work is beyond words. I'm glad you like his work to, life can be beautiful if you have the right antenna for art :)
@@hadrianwall-r7h and Peter Ilsted ;)
What a beautiful and serene film. What a beautiful character. What a delight to see her - I know her name from "World of Interiors", but to see her in her delightful environment means so much more !
This house is like a type of british indie movie set 😍
perfection in every inch of this beautiful house. perfection of fine lines, volume, lights, space...The most beautiful place I have seen in my life
Undeliverably beautiful... I have a playlist of homes that I love and this is the only "traditional" that has made the cut. Helps that its accompanied by one of my favorite music compositions as well. Pure bliss, just like I'm sure living there would be as well.
1:27 I think this is a key feature that a lot of homes miss is a sense of scale. Either it feels to big or the space is far too small for the furniture purchased. Another thing is a point made by kita konig is the layout. Most homes have weird, impractical layouts with no flow at all. This is simply an exquisite home!
This is my favorite home on Nowness videos and in my top 5 of home videos ever!!!!
Now I know why this song sounds so familiar. It's the OST fro one of my favorite movies Arrival. On The Nature Of Daylight by Max Richter
thanks, it was bugging me that I couldn't remember which film I'd heard this track from.
this is my favourite video on youtube honessssly
Mine as well, so much inspiration...
Yes Kate. This is one of my favorite interiors, too. Has a tranquil sensibility. Filled with substance, but nothing extraneous.
I think it’s the music
@@fijod It is i love it just so much and im from faraway beijing!!
Everything done in great taste. Very beautiful.
A home is a place where a certain feeling is evoked; this house, as grand and large as it is, has that feeling. Magnificent...
This home screams rich with taste. I’m so envious lol
This reminded me of the film "Call me by your name". The big old house + the sad music... it all feels familiar.
Wow! I ever watching videos about houses and for any reason I wasnt found a house like this. I can imagine myself living there! Fantastic video and very good music to describe the place.
This is by far my favorite house, the one I can relate Inside to and with a favorite piece of Max Richter too
Absolutely drawn to this lovely London house. Watching the video 3 times already. It is a prayerful, meditative, heartfelt experience every time I watch it. Thank You so much for making this excellent video in this exceptional house!
the video is like an therapy ,the music is relax , and her voice give peace of mind,
I was thinking, the most beautiful home I have ever seen and then bam! Tuymans coffee table book. And since he is my favourite painter everything made much more sense.
Happy house with contradictory lighting and music production.
This house is like a secret story you want to explore and at the same time just be still and live the moment
Something about the house makes me feel I already lived in such place💜
On The Nature of Daylight - very ceremonial yet grounded
Beautifully filmed and narrated. I think the music is intended to emphasize the calmness and tranquility of a timeless classical house. That hall and stairs, the fireplace, the beautiful town garden.
This is song from the movie the arrival, I remember because I liked that song it made the movie more emotional
AfrikanReine92 arrival, not the arrival.
It was in Shutter Island in 2010.
It is a song used in many soundtracks, it doesn't "belong" to any movie. It is Max Richter- On The Nature of Daylight.
This is not a song, is a musical piece; a melody.
Thanks for all the corrections, i didn’t realize my comment sparked interest that ppl had to correct me, I didn’t even remember that I wrote this, but then again it was 3 years ago
This is the first time I have ever seen someones house and thought , I should live in this. Beautiful
I love the house and what was done to it, it has a soul in the past and one in the present, and just the right amount of "austere" beauty.
Max Richter's music gives this house another dimension
Je suis terriblement touché par cette immensité d' émotion .
Soooo peacefull.
This place is gorgeous. And I felt like I watched a whole film the way this video was constructed. Great job
Structurally beautiful, with some lovely details, especially the staircase.
This song sounded so familiar and evoked some emotions in me and I've been trying to figure out where I know it from. Finally figured out it's the song played in the opening scene of the movie Arrival!
Thank you so much for putting me out of my misery 😅
the director is in love with arrival theme song
I like that these snippets of casa profiles are fundamentally the same as the MTV house tours (or whatever they were named). Yes arguably the former are more tasteful but to me it only speaks at our common humanity, that no matter our background and tendencies, there’s so much more that unites us rather than that which separate us.
I found people's comments as interesting as the video.
Angela Bern I felt the same like her words kept drawing me forward
Angela Berni it’s a well produced piece like the home
For those wondering about the music..
Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight
One of my favorite tracks...it suits this house...
Es DeeKay 3:26 they recognized him, thank goodness 🖤😌
Melancholy can be beautiful sometimes...juxtaposed with historic architecture and art and tasteful furniture.. when she said she’s happy living there alone, why would we not believe her? That gorgeous house gives her solitude and peace of mind. Something we all probably need at this moment..
Is true, we need peace of mind and that house give os just that, it is why we continue to look this video more than once
I find this really relaxing. Its difficult to make quite a big space feel cosy yet minimal at the same time. I quite like what these interiors don't say. I imagine the house comes to life in different ways depending on the people who occupy it. I also love the music which makes me think of the film Arrival.
“It’s a very happy house.” Love that.
Stunning video, and a stunning home. I was lucky enough to live around the corner (in a shoebox) in Pimlico - and always admired it from the outside.
A shoebox inhabitant would undoubtedly think this is stunning.
Can you name the address? I would love to see the exterior of it.
@@Timmho123 33 Warwick Square, Pimlico, London.
as beautiful as this video is,
...(out of sheer curiosity), I sort of wish they had done more of a walk through "tour" so you get a better understanding of the layout.
Sublime! The first video I have watched in this chanel And from everything ever watched, in general on Utube, this is the best. I´m always returning to this dream house! It makes my heart smile...
wonderful, moving, music goes to the heart thank you
This is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen.
Simply spectacular. I find it so mesmerising! What an inspiring place x
The music and the beauty. Total honesty. I will beg you to help me one day..
Its a house like in the movies, stunning!
This is truly a pleasure to look at this beautiful house...
I've always loved that instrumental.
La raffinatezza ,la storia, bellezza, atmosfera, magia, sensibiita ,grazie
Beautiful home, beautiful atmosphere, beautiful (down-to-earth, genuine) woman. Just lovely...
Her voice is so far beyond beautiful. Such an elegant, beautiful, gentle lady. Xx
classic lady
I can’t appreciate thr house because of the mood the video puts me in
Lovely tour! Beautiful presentation of the designer and her space
Chills. In a good way. I can’t quite explain the feeling.
Stunning !!! music moves me to another time while I wander through the images... Charming
Amazing beautiful, rustic and elegant... My dream home! Wow!
Me encanto ! elegante y refinado
This film is beautiful, moved me to a beautiful but sad place, and yes is a happy house to be in.
Very stylish and everything is done in great taste.
We need to see more like this
And what an exquisitely beautiful house. The bones of it are wonderful
This lovely vedio delivered me one kind of special feeling rather than the interior design
It’s so perfect, the color, the mood.
This pulls at my soul in a different way, the beautiful calmness is like a salve for the eyes.
Wow! The photography is just stunning. Max Richter's music emphasizes the monastery side of it.
Could you tell us about the title of this piece of music ?
A beautiful house and a beautiful film.
Your home is enchanting....thank you for sharing it.
Very moving, thank you for this video
Wow! the music, the video quality, the house and the designer just perfection - really inspiring
Stunning, complete serenity.
