For me he is the best, dominated a whole decade which no one else has done. People say the standard back then was not as good, however he was banging in centuries and frame winning breaks, so it didn't matter who he was playing. There was less tournaments back his days so to have 700+ centuries and 2nd on the ranking list is an amazing achievement. A prime Hendry today will still be winning ranking and World Titles.
Never appreciated him fully when i was growing up - Alwasy thought he was slightly arrogant and was bored of his neverending success. It's only now that I can truly appreciate him as a player and now as a commentator. His knowledge of the game is second to none.
@@michaelchesney8680Absolutely. Ronnie didn’t touch Hendry at his peak at the crucible in the 90’s. Hendry has a better record there, 28 matches unbeaten. 5 years unbeaten . @Ali Basit. Personally I would say Hendry and O'Sullivan are like Batman and Joker respectively. One means business and the other just wants to have fun. It suits Ronnie to be fluid and temperamental. Hendry's stoic attitude provides a suitable counterbalance. Together they make formidable ambassadors for the game. Each on his own would be incomplete.

I was watching a video on his channel before where he said a few years before retirement he'd developed some serious issues with his game. With one specific type of shot, he started hitting them wrong, and as time went on that started happening with other shots. Like a mental block he couldn't get rid of. I don't think he could have gone too much longer.
You can keep O’Sullivan, Trump and all the others: I watched Hendry from the very beginning to his last match and at his very best he was definitely the best to ever pick up a cue!
Making 776 Century breaks is really amazing in this era with the huge amount of events that there are but to do it back then with only six events per year is utterly ludicrous!!!
Yep. And I'll watch at least 2 Ronnie compilations afterwards cos they're more interesting! This has just reminded me of Hendry's liking for splitting the pack off a blue. Ronnie is happy tickling them out one at a time! Now that's a skill. 😂
If I remember rightly Stephan changed the course of snooker, before he came along it was long and boring, he was the one that started to take risks on longer shots and speed the game up!
Say what you want. But the fact is before Hendry, it's not really fashionable to play snooker. It was only when a young good looking long-haired boy started winning that the game really exploded all over the world. Maybe in terms of records, he's no longer untouchable.
