    What a great speech. Loved this guy for decades. Peace is the only way we will survive. We are all one family. Humanity.

    Damn. That's some heavy material there. The more I listen to him talk, the more I want to hear. That's a damn rare trait these days. Makes you want to be a better person.

    “Do you realize how insane what you just said was??” Henry’s not the kinda guy who gets surprised that easily... can’t imagine what it was like to be talking to that soldier.

    ROLLINS is larger than life.
    He's one of the few popular persons in the world who actually have INTEGRITY.
    That's a rare good nowadays.

    I've had the pleasure of meeting him on two occasions and he is even nicer and more down-to-earth than you could ever hope for.
    He takes the time to give everyone a few minutes to talk with him so if you ever get the chance to go to one of his talking shows, do it and hang by the bus after the show. (not before the show, he hates that) you'll have a good time.

    Only Henry Rollins could tell an entire audience of Israelis to stop killing Arabs and receive a standing ovation for it.

    • @orlava1
      @orlava1 3 роки тому +1

      Do you think Israelis just can't wait to go and kill people? how can you watch such a profound video and come out with such a basic idea of things? violent conflicts are hell, but most soldiers on both sides are just normal people. stupid, simplistic opinions like yours are a part of the problem.

    At a prior job, an older couple came in to have their passport pictures taken. Very friendly, they were. I took care of them, and right after, a younger couple came in for the same thing with their baby. Very friendly as well. Once I was done taking care of them, the older couple started idle chit chat with the younger couple taking about how cute their baby is. As this was going on for a few minutes, both couples were switching between English, Hebrew, and Arabic. What I was able to pick up with the spurts of English was this. Both couples either lived in or near Gaza and saw some shit. Both couples had fled to the US to escape all that. The older couple was Israeli. The younger couple was Palestinian. Before I knew it, both couples were in tears hugging each other and apologizing for the shit their respective people did to the other. They exchanged phone numbers and made arrangements to have dinner together.
    It was a very heartwarming yet sombering experience. Considering how the death and destructions have drastically escalated recently, would take a miracle for something like that to happen on a larger scale.

    • @shruggzdastr8-facedclown
      @shruggzdastr8-facedclown Рік тому

      That this small-scale exchange happened at all gives some slim hope that such an attitude shift can happen at a larger scale. In its absence, though, any hope vanishes entirely

    My own dad had to process the paperwork for soldiers that were killed in Vietnam. This was the paperwork that the families didn’t get: the graphic descriptions of how they were killed, if they could determine it. Sounds something like what Henry saw when he visited those vets.

    First, I currently serve in the Army. Second, I really dig Rollins, and I respect his views. There's a right way, and a wrong way to present your case, and to make your arguments. Rollins gets it right, whereas guys like Sean Penn and Michael Moore get it all wrong. Henry deserves thanks for what he does for our guys that didn't come out of all of this in the same shape they started.

Dunno where he gets the stamina to speak that long w/out a break! Anyway, met him aft the show & he was more than just down to earth, he really wanted to KEEP TALKING!!

    Henry cares about the soldier on the ground. You only have to look back over history to understand the pain and sacrifice of the ordinary soldier. It's why we have Remembrance Day each year. I was really moved by Henry's stories.
    He's right, whatever the conflict, the only solution is for citizens to stand up and say "no more". Life is precious.

  • @irishelk3

    Some day the world will reach a new level and things will improve. I think there will always be the element of negativity in life, but ultimately things will improve. It can be hard for people to care about the rainforests and the polar bears and tigers when they are at war, war distracts people from what matters in life, helping others, helping animals, planting trees, making peace, creativity. We are here to do this, but more often than not, we go the other way.

    No anger is a natural emotion, just like joy, fear, love, etc. It's what you do in response to the emotion that matters. Just pretending you don't have an emotion you don't like won't make it go away. There is nothing wrong with anger, espically if you use it for a positive outcome.

    @Tsaucci For me, the importance of speakers like henry is encouraging the people who are already trying to change things - to continue. it's very easy to get frustrated around here (because of political factors from within Israel, but also factors from "outside") - and that I'm afraid you don't seem to understand.

    After the first thing he said about anger and the war, I thought, one time I saw this little HBO special with James Gandolfini interviewing soldiers who survived explosions and shit and only 1 out of 5 of them hinted that the war pissed him off but you knew for some reason he wouldnt outright say it on camera. We need every injured soldier who thinks the war is bullshit on major networks speaking out as often as possible. Because nobody can debate with someone whose been there.

    That is really sad ,some fun ,but sad to think about that guys parents seeing their son to change kid again. All that pain that we have caused for false things, its just so wrong and ppl. don't want to face it, most ppl. are too selfish to understand ,they think the pain wont reach them and we don't have to care then. Its all over when we say so .
