We really just have one goal - to make your food life better. Ok that, and be entertained at the same time. And have you learn a few things along the way. So let’s make it 3 goals then.
If you only want the steps to make something, like those vids shot from above with no people, no conversation no nuthin - then we are absolutely not for you. But if you wanna a little fun while you learn, then this is the place.
Cooking doesn’t have to be hard, it just has to be delicious.
    -
    THANK YOU ❗️

Japanese are very polite. But this area in Osaka is mainly tourists from southeast asia. Native Japanese avoid this area. Even a lot of the people working the food stalls are foreigners. So the people bumping into him were most likely Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese or Filipino.

I really enjoy your videos filmed at home but I think you need to consider that Japan isn't an amusement park for foreigners to put a camera in their face, get in people's way and complain that they aren't catering to your requirements to get the right shot. It's really disrespectful and Japan has been taking this shit from foreigners for years and it's just not right. We need to do better. I hope you read all of these comments and reflect on them. Thank you for all that you do.

Sam I think your videos are great and you’re a really funny guy but I hope you know that eating in the middle of the road in Japan isn’t all that polite. Moreso, the people actually working (like the guy pushing the trolley) actually needs to use the road. You could have picked a nice spot with a nice background, gone to the side a bit, found a bridge, or literally anything else rather than stand smack in the middle of the road. I only want to comment about this because I noticed in the last Japan video, you did the same and someone else commented the exact same. I know you’re unapologetically you, but it might be worth considering.

@Saturn Being a food youtuber is no excuse to let someone do whatever they want. If this guy can't follow simply rules in another country like not standing in a busy street to film then he can skidaddle the fuck back to his own country to film.

    • @teerificbitch
      @teerificbitch 5 років тому +12

@Saturn "let the man do what he wants" because culture isn't law? So what if you're video recording and reviewing? That gives you the right to stand in the middle of walkways and film, while blocking hundreds of people that pass by the busy areas? There's something called awareness and consideration, and then there's something else called ignorance and rude.
Just because it's hard to make a video doesn't mean shit. Also, he blocked multiple walkways many a times. Don't fucking act as if you won't be annoyed if someone else did that while you were walking too. Inconveniencing others is as selfish as it sounds. Don't make it sound like he's being a free spirit and should be praised for it.

"Some people here are so rude" Dude, you're eating in the middle of nowhere in a crowded walkway in Japan. Not only is it impolite to eat in the middle of a walkway, you also have the audacity to call them out for it? Did you do no research into Japan before you went there? Literally the number 1 rule is don't eat while walking, or anywhere that you may get into someone's way. Sam, I enjoy your vids but c’mon, learn something about Japanese culture before acting like a DB. I know some of it is your schtick but as Japanese-American originally from Osaka you acting like you own the GD street is just wrong. The people of Kansai are more assertive than those in Kanto (Tokyo), so you may have experienced a little of that but standing in the middle of Doutonbori on a weekend and not expecting to be bumped into is naive. I believe the people of Japan are some, if not the most, hospitable in the world. They’re polite and patient unlike yourself. Safe travels and please do your best not to embarrass us.

I LOVE literally all your videos, though this is the only one that make me sort of cringe and I actually got annoyed at one point. You can’t be angry at them for getting in your way. And the way you kept saying “god im working here” - they dont see it like that. Ive been all over japan , osaka included, and i can say with confidence that you would have just been seen as a random giant white guy with an unnecessary camera man. Not someone who’s hard at work. You were super inconvenient and in the way. Pls for the love of respect next time you go take the time to find a quiet spot, purchase all your fun little foods then take them to your spot to eat and talk out of everyones way. I mean, ramen excluded. Most things come in a box. But anyway, incredible film quality and your audio is insane, keep up the good work!

I’m a big white dude and I’ve literally had 4’ Asian grannies who’ve shoved me the fuck out of the way here in my home country because they wanted to walk down the sidewalk and didn’t want to step to the side a little bit first. The whole comment section is lit up, jumping on Sam about standing in pedestrian traffic areas when the irony is, people take their behaviors with them. Buncha high-horse bullshit about “when in Rome” and “you should do a little research about how to act” and other such nonsense about how the Japanese are the most polite, most gracious people on the planet when we have zero such expectations of foreigners adhering to our societal norms here and go to the exact opposite extent and say “that’s their culture and they can bring it with them and we need to accept it and adapt.” It’s bullshit. And I’m going to get flamed for it, and that’s bullshit, too.

I will attempt to explain the sour faces: Imagine you are walking down a crowded street in San Diego, and you come across this guy standing right in the middle of the walkway with his hand in his pants, scratching his balls. No class, right? Well, that's what local Japanese folks are thinking of you standing in the middle of a crowded walkway because you want to get a nice shot (and understandably so) of yourself enjoying a great orange juice drink. As the old saying goes, "when in Rome....." Hope that helped.

    - standing in the middle of a crowded street and expecting no one to walk into shot
    - complaining about people being miserable and showing a lack of understanding of the Japanese culture (introverted)
    - complaining about people smoking in public when it is allowed under Japanese law
    - pointing out an offensive gesture (wiping the chopsticks) and doing it anyway
It’s a shame because the edit on this video was phenomenal, particularly the intro.
