@@santiagoparra3861 if you're an artist who wants to use procreate, it can be enough if you want ro be. There are ways to make it enough. For example, transferring files every once in a while. But if you have the money to buy the 128 GB, I'd say do it. At the time of commenting this, I didn't have the money to buy it. Now, I'm kinda regretting not buying the 128 GB instead. But I still love my 32 GB ipad. I made it work for me.
This video was VERY helpful when it came to purging timelapse video.. My iPad Pro is 64GB I have 10GB Google Drive, 100GB Dropbox and 200GB iCloud with a 2TB Seagate external HD, so I back up once a week, especially my Procreate files and also save them as PhotoShop files as well.
I was just about to ask if the files can be transfered to Dropbox. Thinking of getting an iPad but can only manage the 32gb for now. As long as I can transfer to Dropbox that would be great. Used to Samsung where I just slap another memory card in 🤭
How was your experience on 64gb? Is it manageable or too tedious moving files all the time? I want to get the air4 64gb but having second thoughts on the storage.. also can you play videos from an external device or SSD?
Oh dear, ive spent whole evening yesterday trying to figure it out by myself, i wish i waited 24h for your video... some other things ive noticed - you can binge export everything when youre in the gallery view, you just need to select files you want to export. I exported my first a4 painting i made with its 10 iterations (from intial sketches to final renders) as .procreate, .psd, .png previews and 5 gifs and the whole pack was 1,5 GB. Its going to take less space if you tyrn the animation recording off, also .procreate files take more space than .psd but im not sure how combatible they are
Thank you Teoh, you are so smart and thorough. I’ve been trying to figure out what I need to purchase recently. Your reviews are always practical and you think of everything to cover. 👍
Oh Thank God I found your video. I was thinking hard what to do with my iPad Pro 64gb if it is running out of space since I have started drawing daily, and turns out we can save and backup our Procreate file plus its timelapse on iCloud. Really helpful video. Many thanks! Looking forward to see more useful videos from you!
I have the 256 GB 10,5 pro and Procreate is using up about 50 to 60 GB right now. And I had it for about an year and I am glad I bought the one with bigger storage but I think 128 GB would also be enough :)
seriously? im really in a doubt rn whether i should buy the pro 128gb or ipad air w the bigger one 256gb.... so do u really think 128 enough for a beginner like me who wants to learn digital drawing?
@@fadhilaputisari8832 Hii. Update: I currently need 122 GB for Procreate and in total 195 GB of Storage. So If you have the money take the bigger one 😆
@@Sylviebunbun Hi, I have the 256 GB ipad not the smaller one. And I save most of my procreate Files several times cause I work with High Resolution and have a limited layer count. So I would definitely buy the 256 GB one again. 🥰 Its also really difficult and annoying to Backup the files 😵
This video was SOOO helpful! Looking into purchasing an iPad for the first time so I can import my sketches and illustration ideas into the computer a lot easier. I'm a Mac user, but the idea of getting a new device that is a little different than a laptop is intimidating. I didn't want to spend too much money upfront - especially since this will be my first time. I may have to slowly increase my illustration skills to create the type of detail you have, but for now, I think the iPad with the lower RAM is better for me. Thank you again.
I just bought a 2018 12.9 64 gb iPad Pro a month ago. I have 2 external drives, an iMac with more storage and I'll just use these to store my procreate files. So far, I'm still in the learning stage and none of my "art" is worth saving. Thanks for the tips!
@@prithadas65 It really depends what you need the air is a bit faster than the regular ipad. you may have to research them for comparison I gave up liking the air and decided that I will buy the pro version instead since I want to digital art and play games that extra ram is more future proof for me.
I just purchased an Ipad 7th Gen 10.2 inch 32GB, it should arrive in a few days, it cost me $700 NZ, I also bought the apple pencil for $160 so all in one lump sum it was a bit of a buy for me as I never spend much on tech haha. It will be my first ever Apple product, I only wanted it to use procreate, I am hoping it still works well for my art work in Procreate!! thank you for the swift and informative video.
If it cost $700 for the old one why didnt you just buy the Ipad pro 11 inch for $750 on apple.com? You could probably still return it and get the new one for $50 more.
I ordered a 1 TB external harddrive...but I see in some youtubes, not all external storage drives are compatible with ipads? Have you ever used a harddrive to back up your ipad files with success...not just a flash drive?
Wow! Such a beautiful iPad art you did there! Can you do a mini series on iPad drawing and practice that last urban sketching book tips with us? ;) ;) ;)
Just to answer the question if anyone was curious - his procreate drawing (with the recorded timelapse) was ~100 MB (or .01GB). So in 1 GB, you could store 100 drawings. So for the 32 GB budget iPad, you could store 3200 Procreate drawings. (This is of course based on a simplified assumption that you are solely using the ipad for procreate when in the reality the system/OS probably takes up at least 1-3GB and of course you will probably have other apps, photos, etc. taking up space). Extending the calculations for the common iPad storage sizes: 32GB: 3200 procreate drawings + their timelapses 64GB: 6400 procreate drawings + their timelapses 128GB: 12800 procreate drawings + their timelapses 256GB: 25600 procreate drawings + their timelapses (Technically, one GB has 1024 MB but I used the conversion of one GB has 1000 MB for easier calculations.)
say i use the ipad pro for more than just procreate (e.g netflix, downloaded music, photos taken, other apps and games) will 256 be enough or should I get the 512 gb?
Really having a hard time deciding between an iPad Air (4) 64gb with the magic keyboard and pencil or the new Pro 11” and wait/save for the extras. Wait for it to ship and wait for the pencil and keyboard as I save for a few months to get those accessories. Or get the 64 air. My budget is tight, but I’ll get the education discount. The difference between the 256 air and 128 pro is like $50. But the 64 air would give me room for those necessary accessories and no waiting. I sold my MacBook Air laptop to make this happen. I have a desktop iMac I rarely use. Main use for iPad will be writing papers, web browsing, email, bit of zoom, media consumption and streaming, reading, editing photos, note taking and light drawing. Playing some games. It will be my first iPad in many years and I’m really excited. What would you do? Is 64gb enough? I also have one terabyte of iCloud storage!
What did you end up getting? I'm in the same boat. I was just about to pull the trigger for base iPad as I don't need the power of pro. But thinking of getting into digital art and it does sound like 64GB is a little limiting. Hence I'm now considering the Pro as it has twice the storage and extra features but on a budget, so would avoid it if preferred.
@@AbunaiAiko Haha, neither. I just went all the way and got a 12.9inch 🫢. Not a financially wise choice, but the larger screen definitely does make a big difference when drawing/paper replacement. I’m glad I went for the larger size mainly because I can split screen, which is too small on the 11 inch.
this is so useful :(( thank u so much!! I have a 32 gb one and i like making art but im scared to buy the app if i get storage problems in the future haha this video helped a lot!
I love this video, very valuable info. But I'd really love to hear about the memory issues. I realized today that the latest Ipad (9th gen, $329) has literally twice the processing power as my 1st Gen 12.9 inch Ipad Pro. The 1st gen pencil is also just fine for drawing, and the regular Ipad battery life is absolutely superior to any of the Ipad pros. Of all the issues, the battery life is the most annoying to me. My Ipad Pro sucks its battery at an astonishing rate. Newer models don't appear to be too much better. But the key is the memory, how much memory and which device to get? Huge price differences and they seem to have planned it this way. ;-(
system + OS take 15gb, so 64gb is good enough. you can get more storage on iCloud too. $1 each month for 50gb , in a year you only spend $12 lot cheaper if it’s compared to buying an ipad with more storage. my first ipad is 32gb and this video helps me to find the solution for my limited storage

Once I finish my paintings I save my files on iCloud and also on an external hardisk and I have never had problems with 32gb painting at 300 dpi in A4 size. I leave just the final and merged file on procreate.
This is also what I do on my lenovo tablet. But I'm thinking of getting the ipad 9, 64 gb because of the price... and do this.. so according to your usage... it do-able ? I use maximum of 20 layers on a digital drawing.. I merge evey now and then..

Thank you Tech. Your off hand knowledge of I Cloud is what I need, so I really appreciate your knowledge. As an artist who is looking to purchasing an I Pad Pro, it will come in handy in terms of my budget limitations. How do I get started with I Cloud again since I had it closed because I forgot the password. Would I be able to open it up again with a new password?
Can't you reset your iCloud password? It's the same password as your Apple ID. Maybe get Apple to reset the password or you'll have to create a new Apple ID (and lose all data, purchases, shows you have with the previous account)
GarageBand, if I am not mistaken, allows you to work directly inside your iCloud Drive. No need to store projects inside the iPad. Procreate doesn’t allow this as far as I can tell? I wish all apps did.
Good day, Teoh. Would like to get ur expert advice. I am new for procreate and getting to improve the interior sketches skills from ipad. There are 2 choices which make me headache : Option1 - ipad 8th 2020 (128gb) with pencil and apple care Option 2 - second hand ipad pro 2018 (64gb) with 2 more years warranty, keyboard and 3rd party pencil. Second hand ipad pro just higher price at $100 than ipad 8th. Seeking ur advice which is suit for me for interior conceptual sketches? Thanks.
The iPad Pro seems like a better deal but third party pencil is not going to be as good as Apple Pencil. That model came put in 2018 so if you buy secondhand, I’m not sure why there will still be 2 years warranty. For beginners, the iPad 10.2 (2020) is actually quite value for money because it’s cheaper
@@teohyc Noted with great thanks. I have the consideration basically due the 2nd pencil, camera, Type C which are better and compatible for the next few year version. but I am worry abt the memory whether is enough for apps installed. Did ipad pro 2018's processor better than Ipad 2020? Thanks.
@@MrKeithTan USB-C is certainly useful. I use it more often for connecting to a projector to watch movies, and for connecting to USB-C microphone. But I seldom it it to transfer files or transfer photos because file management sucks on iPadOS. As for process, for drawing purposes you won't notice the difference. You'll going to be drawing at the same speed. Not sure how many layers you can get with the new iPad 2020 though. The iPad 2019 can get 26 layers with A4 at 300DPI while iPad Pro can get 57 layers at 300DPI.
Great video. Thank you. 🙏 I have a small query... so when we save a file in an external/cloud storage and then when we click on it... does Procreate app view it from the cloud/external storage or does it first save a copy on iPad?
Do you think ipad air (2020) 64gb will be good enough for commercial art (logos, flyers, art posts, not complex art), and regular media consumption (facebook pages, instagram, pinterest, netflix. UA-cam, etc)
Just ordered the ipad 8th gen with 32gb, it's my first apple device so I was unsure if icloud drive was expensive (i was willing to pay anyways). But you just saved me, now I can rest safely knowing that it won't be much, thanks!
@@Sake-m3q Hi! No, I haven't had any regrets so far! I've been using it only to draw in procreate and have not ran out of space yet (: if you're only gonna use it to save pictures, or simple stuff like only Facebook or UA-cam it should be more than enough tbh. The system usually uses like 10gb so you'll probably have around 50gb free, but...BUT if you are gonna use it as a work supply and use heavy apps like an animation app or editing apps you will most likely need more space
Thank you for this video - super helpful! Does anyone happen to know why the file size shrinks so much when you save it in iCloud? Does that mean you lose quality at all?
I am sorry to bother you but can I please ask you a question about iCloud Drive. I have transferred my files from Procreate to iCloud Drive but now iCloud Drive takes up the storage space on my iPad. I really really do mot understand this. In effect I have just moved the files from one area to another using the storage on my iPad. Can you confirm this is what happens please. Thank you so much.
If you have actually moved the files out from Procreate to iCloud Drive, the iPad storage should drop. Note that iCloud has many services under it. iCloud Backup and iCloud Drive are under iCloud and share storage. When you move Procreate files out from the iPad, you also move them out from iCloud Backup, but when you move them to iCloud Drive, they are back under iCloud just at a different place.
I've seen some videos about whether you should buy an iPad with 64GB or 256GB. Now my question (as an alternative): Can you just buy the much cheaper iPad with 64GB and use iCloud for extra storage?
omg, your channel is a savior, i had one question though, if i store the procreate files on the system, will it delete them from the app, i'll probably use an external ssd to store them, so would really help to optimize storage!
You have to export the Procreate file to somewhere first, then delete that file manually from the iPad. I recommend you store the Procreate files on iCloud. That way you can see them instantly when you open Files app from your iPad.

@@lucakappinga8144 The 50GB iCloud is really more for backing up the iPad. You can get 200GB iCloud plan in future when you need the extra storage. The 200GB will provide enough GB for backup and online storage. How much storage you'll need depends a lot on your drawing frequency and size of your files. You can study your current workflow. Hello theree✨ I just need your help bcz I’m really so confused whether to buy the iPad Pro 128 GB or the Air 4 256GB Like I’m afraid if the 128GB would not be enough and at the same time I’m afraid if the 256 would be too much. I’m a College student and I really have to write ALOOOTT of notes also I’ve software books as the current situation of onnline learning and I’m planning to use the iPad for other things also in the future like digital drawing, reading books etc. And I’m planning to replace it with my laptop as I’ll make my iPad as my laptop replacement. So what do you recommend for me?:(
128GB should be enough. Notes don't take much space, especially if you use apps that save notes to the cloud. For drawing, just look at your current workflow. If you're not drawing much now, getting a tablet won't make you draw more.
Hi - what is your opinion when it comes choosing between having a display tablet connected to a Windows machine or an iPad Pro. Which one do you think is better in terms of software/app (illustration/painting) flexibility and also in terms of useability standpoint. I am confused in taking a direction as I don't have any as I am newly introduced to digital art, but I own an Dell XPS 15 however I am not sure if that is of any use when thinking of mobility and apps that are available for iPad Pro like procreate.
If you need to use desktop software, then it’s better to get a pen display. If not, it’s alright to get iPad and Procreate. Really comes down to the software you want to use.
yesterday i was purchasing the 2018 ipad pro 11” for £418. it had 256gb and was in “fair condition” (i was buying it refurbished) 4 minutes after it was purchased, then i found a 2018 ipad pro 11” for £425. it had 512gb and it was in “very good condition” so i had to cancel my order and buy it. now i need to find a way to use 512gb of storage that is the most i’ve EVER had in my life
I'm actually new to the ipad system, and i'm planning to get the 64gb ipad air 4th gen, is it enough or should i get the 256gb version. I do digital art, photo and video editing on the go andddd my laptop just hurts my back to bring that heavy thing everyday. I also have an external harddrive that's 1tb. sooooo should i get the 64gb or the 256gb???
I come from a Samsung Tablet environment but am so eager to try Procreate. I can get an iPad 8th gen with 32gb but then it's bundled with a keyboard and pencil as well. I was begging them to add the 128gb to the deal but they refused. Seeing as it won't be my main device and I will mainly use it for Procreate and maybe 1 other drawing app, whatsapp and UA-cam, do you think it will be a good deal to take it with all the accessories as well? I have a Dropbox account already so I'm sure I can move the files to that platform. If it wasn't for the fact that I get the pencil and keyboard with it for $2 more I would have gone for the 128gb. My main usage device is the Tab S7 currently. Love the fact I can add an extra SD card. Can't understand why Apple devices are made to not add any. PS. This will be my 1st Apple device since working on one as a student.
My girlfriend fell in love with my iPad Air 4. I want to get her one with the Apple Pencil. I can only afford the 64gb version. Her usage is mainly drawing and doodling in Procreate. She also likes using the iPad for surfing the web, media streaming, Tumblr & Pinterest, and playing some games. Nothing too heavy duty. Is 64gb enough? She also has lots of cloud storage, 2TB. She also uses her MacBook Air laptop to store photos, videos and big files. The iPad will mostly be for streaming, sketching, surfing and a few games. Lots of cloud storage! I’d rather spend the money on the pencil than the extra for 256gb, since she is an artist. I figure she can eventuality offload her larger drawings to the cloud or use external storage, if she needs to free up space. Thoughts? 64gb is enough?
iPadOS and updates will take up at least 16.5GB. So technically speaking you're only left with only 40GB of storage. It's usable if you don't mind moving your local files to online storage. I actually don't mind moving Procreate files onto iCloud via the Files app. But the problem is sometimes they thumbnails don't show so if you want to look for old art just from the file names, it's not easy. That's one downside. My recommendation is, if you have access to Apple's refurbished store online, get the refurbished iPad Air 4 with 256GB storage. It should be 15% off retail price. Or get the 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro 11-inch with 128GB or 256Gb storage.
Hi! whats the size of your Ipad pro? is that an 11inch? and if it is, how was it in a artist perspective? Cause I've been torn in if I would get the 12.9 or 11 inch for drawing. Thanks!
12.9 require a table or support to use. With 11-inch, you can hand hold and draw. That's the main difference. 11 inch is slightly larger than A5 size which is still a good size to work with. It's also much cheaper. MIne's 12.9-inch.
@@teohyc strange how most arttists say that 11 inch should be good to work with but almost always use the 12.9 inch version themselves. i am yet to find someone using an 11 inch ipad pro for digital art review purposes. i agree 12.9 inch is a bit too large to support or use portability wise but i think serious artists always prefer using that. further, can anyone tell me why there's almost never an offer on the 12.9 inch version and always on the 11 inch base model. which is too less of storage?
@@durba-718 Which screen size to get really depends on personal preference. If you have to bring the tablet out often, then the 11-inch is more appropriate. It really is significantly more portable. I'm using the tablet mostly at home so 12.9-inch is alright for me. The 11-inch provides more value for money simply because it's much cheaper than the 12.9-inch. Even if you get the 11-inch, I don't think you'll go "oh I wish I have bought the larger one". 11-inch is still quite big. Having said that, I recommend checking the refurbished section of Apple's website. Refurbished units are 15% off and the 2020 units are more worth the money compared to the M1 iPad Pros. E.g. US $609 vs $799 for 11-inch iPad Pro 2020 vs 2021.
hi teoh...hope you answer my question so i have ipad pro 11” 256gb since last year and kinda think to upgrade it to 512gb...i do have samsung ssd t5 but i’ve been having issues when i open it from my ssd, few of my artworks can’t be import in procreate when i tested out open it back in procreate (haven’t delete the main artworks one thankfully) but its kinda annoying tbh...so should i wait or go upgrade to 512gb?
36$ per yr so 100$ for 3 yrs usage works out to be about the same as the difference between a 256gb second hand ipad and the base 64gb model. The problem is file corruption is common so it's good to back up anyway. I'm looking at an ipad air 4th used going for 420$ usd which still has applecare+ until Nov. Apple devices are expensive here so a guy at MacStore said it's a reasonable price. Problem is there's no theft coverage and I don't want it to get stolen. 64gb seems so little. I had a iPhone X 64gb and it was full all the time even without huge games or anything. Apple should provide 256gb as a base model really. A tip I heard is to set up your ssd with a Mac before using it and that reduces corruption of files.
Which would you recommend between iPad 6 128GB and iPad 7 32GB? iPad 7 has a greater RAM but i don't know if that really matters for art purposes. Thank you!
The RAM only really matters for the amount of layers your art can have. There are some youtubers out there that explain this at length. I would advise you to take a look at the ipad air (2019) if you plan to use the pad for artwork
for procreate and nomad sculpt and reading pdf and listening to music, order pro with 128 gb was wrong choice? i have hard disk with 2 tera, i would like to use ipad pro instead of the almost broken pc for many things. maybe it was better 256? I don't know games, maybe try one at a time or little ones
Hello, I love following your videos! I need a bit of advice however. I love procreate and the Apple Pencil and can’t give up it’s pressure sensitivity so I am pretty much stuck with Apple. I have my old iPad pro, but it’s strength is also it’s weakness, being the 12.9 screen. The mini 5 seemed like a great portable sketch option, which is what I want right now but Black Friday did nothing for them in fact because I waited assuming it would I in fact missed what had been the best offers for the mini 5…. So that brings me to my question/advice seeking, because it has to do with the ill advised and much older iPad pro 9.7, apparently only able to support 4 layers in procreate. But the prices are unbeatable. Also my use case would be sketching while out and about in an “a la prima” single layer (as far as I understand) approach, likely doing Thumbnail sketches, so I wonder could it actually with 128 gb or higher actually be kind of perfect for such a use case? Perhaps, or almost certainly I am overlooking numerous other pitfalls of the device itself?
Definitely get at least 128GB if possible. Note that iPadOS takes up 15GB. Look at the refurbished iPads direct from Apple website. Those are usually 10-15% off retail price.
@@teohyc thank you so much Teoh! I saw the models not directly from Apple but still from vendors that could offer some warranty ect. for their used models, Gazelle, BackMarket but I hate to ask another question on a doubt I just thought of, because I have become very accustomed to using the “Turpentine” brush on Procreate, so much so that it would possibly be a deal breaker not having it, which I worried might be possible if it’s a feature of a later procreate that that older model might not be able to support? I think hopefully I am just confused, because I remember that yes it supports procreate, just relatively poor using the 4 layers as a measure, I just hope that doesn’t indicate many other things that could ruin even a more spartan use case?
@@SolarPunk80 All the Procreate brushes should be able to work as the processor inside that iPad is powerful even though it's old by today's standards. The main limitation really is the RAM which limits the number of layers you can create.
I can't remember how many layers exactly. Anyway, since you already have the iPad, you can just create a custom canvas and resolution and find out the maximum number of layers
Am a beginner user of procreate and seeking for an expert advice , shall i go for ipad pro 2018 11 inch 64gb or 250 gb,, or is it better to buy the new 2020 ipad pro 127gb?

Im aiming towards refurbished. Im eyeing the ipad pro 12.9 2nd gen 2017. My use would be procreate for digital artwork to than sell, some note taking with online school, saving some shows or movies for when traveling to watch, maybe some light social media browsing and possible pictures but not tooo many. I plan to than buying a newer ipad pro and giving this one to my partner and he does UA-cam videos, gaming, movie downloading, photography and photo editing maybe some video editing too. Im stuck between 256 gb and 512 gb. I want it to be enough for what i plan to use it for till i than upgrade and allow my partner to have enough space for his use. Im also stuck on 256 gb for $420 no warranty or 512gb for $630 with 2 year warranty. The 2017 model is the one with the physical button. I don't recommend that. Get the 2018 model with Apple Pencil 2. The 2020 iPad Pro model is the best if you have the budget. And get the refurbished models directly from Apple if possible. 256GB should be sufficient
@@teohyc very curious on why you wouldn’t recommend the physical button one? Ive checked and apple doesnt have any 2018 refurbished ones nor backmarket. As well as the total for 2020 is roughly at $1,000 and a bit over at checkout for refurbished…And on apple i only found the 11 inch 😭 I already have apple pencil 1 so my plan was to do an older model than upgrade if needed. Seeing i cant do $800-$1k for a newer year ipad currently Lol 😩 my mind is everywhere now on what to do 😂 appreciate the advice and reply though. 🙂
@@withloveleli Get the one you can afford as long as it is officially refurbish: new battery + ne chasis + 1 year of warranty. If 2017 12.9 is what you can get, just get it. It has 4gb of RAM, which will give you enough layers. It will receive at least 1 more year of updates, but most surely 2. This way, you will save a ton, considering you already have the pencil 1. It might not be the best option, but it is the best for you according to what you need now.
Hello, I work on a PC and am wondering if it is worth getting an ipad or not to draw. I love the procreate app however I don't know if i will be able to use the files on my pc or not?
As someone who creates digital art to print.. posters... tshirts.. art with many details... Do you think I could get away with buying the 64gb ipad 9 ??? The 258 gb version is just so expenssive.. Right now the 64 gb ipad is 333 euros. Then still the apple pencil and accessories. The Samsung galaxy tab 6lite 2022 is 270 euros.. What do you think? Its driving me crazy. But I'm afraid the drawing on the tabs6 lite will be too slow.. too anoying and too pixely? Could that be an issue with the 64 gb ipad as well ?
Nice video just 1 question which no one is taking about it. Does the ipad air 4/pro gets too warm after drawing continuously for 2hours? I'm using surface pro 6 to drawing but it's getting too warm to continue after just 1hour of drawing.
Hi Teoh! Actually, I would like to get your opinion, if you don't mind... I'll be using my iPad for vector and pixel illustrations mostly. NO animation or video editing. And I stream, so I will not be downloading movies or music on my device. Do you think the 128MB will be sufficient in the long-term? Or do I need to just invest in the 256MB?
Hi Teoh! love your video, but I am still confused, I want to start drawing on procreate and eventually sell my works, which ipad should I choose? the Ipad pro 11 2021 with 256gb or the ipad pro 12.9 with 128 gb or the ipad pro 2020 with 256gb? thanks

I have 10GB Google Drive, 100GB Dropbox and 200GB iCloud with a 2TB Seagate external HD, so I back up once a week, especially my Procreate files and also save them as PhotoShop files as well.

Extending the calculations for the common iPad storage sizes:
32GB: 3200 procreate drawings + their timelapses
64GB: 6400 procreate drawings + their timelapses
128GB: 12800 procreate drawings + their timelapses
256GB: 25600 procreate drawings + their timelapses
(Technically, one GB has 1024 MB but I used the conversion of one GB has 1000 MB for easier calculations.)
Samuela Sanderinos 100 MB is not 1GB, it’s 0.10GB. So 1000MB is 1GB so it’s 10x time more drawings
Klerx ah thanks, updated my original comment.
say i use the ipad pro for more than just procreate (e.g netflix, downloaded music, photos taken, other apps and games) will 256 be enough or should I get the 512 gb?

Huge price differences and they seem to have planned it this way. ;-(
What did you ended up buying? I have the same problem
system + OS take 15gb, so 64gb is good enough. you can get more storage on iCloud too. $1 each month for 50gb , in a year you only spend $12 lot cheaper if it’s compared to buying an ipad with more storage. my first ipad is 32gb and this video helps me to find the solution for my limited storage

Yes. The inconvenient part is having to transfer your files out to iCloud when you run out of internal storage.
omg, your channel is a savior, i had one question though, if i store the procreate files on the system, will it delete them from the app, i'll probably use an external ssd to store them, so would really help to optimize storage!
You have to export the Procreate file to somewhere first, then delete that file manually from the iPad. I recommend you store the Procreate files on iCloud. That way you can see them instantly when you open Files app from your iPad.

128GB should be enough. Notes don't take much space, especially if you use apps that save notes to the cloud. For drawing, just look at your current workflow. If you're not drawing much now, getting a tablet won't make you draw more.

For your purposes probably 256GB. Video files take up a lot of storage.
@@teohyc thanks for the ups bro! Cant wait for more of your contents
If you have Tab S7 I don’t see why you will want to get the iPad. 32GB is not enough as iPadOS and your apps will take up 12-20GB already
@@teohyc literally just want it to try out Procreate as its not available on Android
@@teohyc thank you so much for your reply!
E.g. US $609 vs $799 for 11-inch iPad Pro 2020 vs 2021.
hi teoh...hope you answer my question
so i have ipad pro 11” 256gb since last year and kinda think to upgrade it to 512gb...i do have samsung ssd t5 but i’ve been having issues when i open it from my ssd, few of my artworks can’t be import in procreate when i tested out open it back in procreate (haven’t delete the main artworks one thankfully) but its kinda annoying tbh...so should i wait or go upgrade to 512gb?
Crashing doesn't really happen on ios so yeah 😅
Thank you!
Just the video I needed. Acquired Procreate recently, and I've been wondering if the 64 Gb on my device was enough.
for procreate and nomad sculpt and reading pdf and listening to music, order pro with 128 gb was wrong choice? i have hard disk with 2 tera, i would like to use ipad pro instead of the almost broken pc for many things.
maybe it was better 256?
I don't know games, maybe try one at a time or little ones
If you draw often, more storage is better. Check out refurbished units on Apple website
@@teohyc thanks
@@teohontech7141 thanks so much! :^)
Ipad 9th generation 64gb storages is it ok for procreate as i m a beginner with ipad plzz help shoul i buy it
Hi, i got the 7th generation ipad is that enough for procreate and if so, how many layers do you get on it?
I can't remember how many layers exactly. Anyway, since you already have the iPad, you can just create a custom canvas and resolution and find out the maximum number of layers
What company is the usb c adapter ?
It’s China made and has no brand. You can find many of these on Amazon
Dang 60+MB for a single file😩😩😩 have to get the 128 gb then
Am a beginner user of procreate and seeking for an expert advice , shall i go for ipad pro 2018 11 inch 64gb or 250 gb,, or is it better to buy the new 2020 ipad pro 127gb?
Get the 2020 model with 128GB storage
Teoh Yi Chie thanks
Hi there, I'm completely new to iPad as normally I work on desktop. Setting the canvas at 300ppi, what's the max pixels size you can save a file without make the iPad cry for it?:D ty
You can use A4 300DPI and it's smooth performance
@@teohyc if you need to print A4 size yes, but if you need to print a larger size A4 at 300ppi at some point will not be fine anymore, that's why I was wondering what is the max pixels size without squeeze the iPad:)
An A4 size it's almost useless for printing purposes
I dnt even know if any of those are a deal but i want a pro 12.9 thats not a newer model seeing i spoiled myself already with a iphome 13 pro max 512 gb (for the selfies) lol so refurbished older model it is for now but idk which way to go.
Thanks for this
Hello, I work on a PC and am wondering if it is worth getting an ipad or not to draw. I love the procreate app however I don't know if i will be able to use the files on my pc or not?
You can export the Procreate files into other format, eg Photoshop, to use on you computer
Get S6 Lite. iPad 9 was already outdated even on the day it came out.
Check the price for Samsung Tab S7 FE too
Nice video just 1 question which no one is taking about it. Does the ipad air 4/pro gets too warm after drawing continuously for 2hours? I'm using surface pro 6 to drawing but it's getting too warm to continue after just 1hour of drawing.
It will be warm but noticeably less warm compared to Surface products

You can't. You have to export the Procreate files out from Procreate to the Files app (into Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive)
