One day in 1971, he brings home this album. Says, I want you to listen to this and tell me what you think. I was 20. He asked me how much to order, and all I could say is Dad, just order all of them. I swear to you this a true story. And Rod Stewart is still my #1 favorite singer of all time.
Music used to Grab me. Electrify me. Energize me. Pump me freakin' up. Not so much anymore. But this tune still does it for me. Beautiful, Amazing song.
Sir Roderick David Stewart CBE, always gives his best. Humble enough to admit his memory is not the best sometimes, but his talent never fails. I am among the many who feel that this is one of his best songs he has written (he has written so many - starting with Maggie May).

Saw him in 1972, Seattle Center Coliseum. Again in 1988. He hadn't lost a step. Played all the "new stuff" for an hour and a half, then asked if it would be okay to go get a quick shower and come back for some "maggie may." The place exploded and they played another hour - all the classic stuff. What a show.
One of the best albums ever.. in his prime Rod was on a different level saw him live once with the Faces now that was entertainment.. oh to be young again
I listened to this album day in and day out in an art class in high school. I love these songs. The studio album is a gem. The guy who played the mandolin was perfection.
Mickey Waller was the drummer on the studio version. If that's Jones in this video he did a simplified version of it as he did with Moon's drumming when he was with the Who. I'm curious how Zak Starkey would do on this being he does such a good job with the Who. The other note I'll make is the studio version featured Ron Wood picking the lead guitar more than strumming it. The drumming, guitar and Long John Baldry's added vocals made this a unique and beautiful song when it came out, albeit difficult to recreate live which is probably why Stewart sings it so rarely he needed a lyric sheet.
