I have been following The Quilted Forest on UA-cam and she sets up and numbers 12 bins at the end of a year with UFO projects. The folliwing year, she chooses a number and works on that bin that month as she has time. She shows what she has accomplished each month before choosing the next project number. A UFO is not always completed but she makes progress. Many times a project is completed as she says it wasn't as time consuming as she thought.
I haven't done this yet but your 12 week plan may be an option for me, summer months are busy with gardening, yardwork, and travel. Other times, such as winter are slower paced.

She also has a list of pre-cut projects, many free patterns, and shows her progress on getting ALL those jelly strip boxes smaller, as she has used them up. She makes other quilts as well, owning a shop as she does.

They are also wips or works in progress. You have the right idea with the basket, grab something between rows of chain piecing, to give yourself a visual stop, so you can separate units without finding the end again manually. You seem to be over thinking. Write your list, add whatever pieces are missing to your list, cross them off as they're done, tick the bits that stopped you, being missing as you get them/find them again. If there's not much more to do, give yourself time at the beginning of your sewing time, or the end, to do a few units or web piece the blocks only one way, so you won't lose any bits. Or finish it all and tick it off. Make some design boards small or big enough for projects. You can cut out a quilt, put all the stacks of patches on a board, and have the whole quilt on it. Take one unit off at a time for chain piecing, Put them back in place ready to piece, without messing up your order. Put it away if you have to wait for later, organised! The scraps can be put on the top to keep stacks from falling over. Give yourself permission to make a smaller project up, each day? Before, or after you finish a top?
Have you got the binding cut, the borders, backing? Do you make up complete, pattern too or not, kits for quick baby blankets...grab and sew when you can't think anymore? Is a fat quarter enough half jelly roll strips to bind a small blanket? Make 4 kits of something nice and challenge quilty friends? A bunch of odd fat quarters can make you multiple scrappy pre-cur pieces, take off the selvedge and cut 10" and 5" strips from selvedge in, do 5 a day for a while, and you'll have your own layer cakes charm packs jelly roll etc to match, in weeks? Sew up mini charms as leaders and enders, you'll have a quilt in no tiime? Alternate with 4 1/2" squares?
Do you have a snuggle kit? A lap quilt, pillow, glasses/ sunglasses case, device case, mug rug, wine glass base holder, journal and pen?, tissue case, bits bag, sewing kit, book mark, tote bag to fit them in? For relaxing, reading quilt books, cosy for eating soup or ice-cream, watching movies etc? Do you have a cute orphan block for a lined tote ppocket? Is it small, frame it with fabric?

This was really interesting, thank you for sharing! I have a hard time pacing myself. There are so many beautiful projects to do. But I finally did manage to get the Christmas quilt top I finished in 2021 to the quilting stage! I am really happy and proud of myself 🙂
I like the look of the programm you use for prioritising you projects (at around 6 minutes). I looks like it is for a tablet or PC. Can you tell me what you are using, I would like to check it out.

Is it a UFO if the fabric has been purchased and the pattern is ready to go, but no cutting has been done at all? Is there a different 'title' for these? Most of my stash space is occupied by non-starters like these....😢

I have a few of them and I did count them, but put them in their own category. 🌻

One idea is to never allow another UFO. I am kinda terrified of even listing my UFOs.

Thank you for sharing! Yes the full list can be daunting and scary. So maybe starting by listing 1 or 2 you love and come up with a plan for just them for the next 12 weeks could be a good start. 🌻
