This is my kind of golf. I know it’s somewhat anti golf social but I absolutely love playing alone and carrying my clubs. I’m 64, been playing 52 years. It’s part of my DNA at this point in life. Going to the golf course is like going to church for me. I feel a very deep connection with the nature and outdoors aspect of it all. Great video and thank you for sharing.
My friend, I could not agree more. You have summed up my feelings perfectly. Yes, I enjoy playing with friends and especially with my sons. But I am never happier than playing on my own even/especially when the weather has put off 99% of the fair weather brigade. If you are uk based, try travelling to Perthshire t play the gorgeous Killin GC. It’s a beautiful 9-holes which looks like a pitch and putt until you actually play it. Stand on the elevated 6th tee looking down into Glen Lochay on one side and Glen Ogle on the other and listen to the buzzards and eagles crying on the wind. Life does not get better, trust me
Have always wanted to play a Scottish course, but at 76 that's unlikely, living in Canada doesn't help much either. But playing late in the season, alone, is something I identify with. I managed a last game here in Toronto on Nov 28th, this year. Just me and the course. Loved it.
Of all the great courses in the World, this is the one I'd most like to play. I've walked along that beautiful deserted beach, sneaking a look at the course when I could. You've definitely done it justice, beautiful cinematography, well done!
Oh no I said to myself, "Is it time to quit?" the title read. Luckily it was just referring to the On the Road series entering winter. I'm relieved as your channel has a much appreciated variety driving it. Thank you, From the standard equipment reviews to the On the Road videos, to Testing the Tips, it's always Fresh! And I have to mention the music - very creative. So keep it going Andy. OK, 'that's me done' - Michigan, USA
Sorry Hannah, it's Andy A this weeks photo. Good to see you at one of your bucket list golf courses Andy. What a golf course. Simply stunning from every angle. The digs too, you can see they cater for the USA golf market, a number of steps above compared to the usual hotels or B&B's, no disrespect to anyone in the hostelry business, but quality like that comes at a price. Not for the faint-hearted, I bet. Another boss video Andy and Hannah, more quality scenery, top drawer. Andy, travelling up there in the winter, is always a huge gamble, I speak from the frightening experience of a close call, nearly being trapped in deep snow, lucky for me, the land rovers 4 wheel drive, is better equipped than most vehicles out there, to get out of some problems, but not all, icy snow is dangerous for everyone, even with 4x4 traction. We had blankets etc, but not equipped to stay in deep drifting snow for days, we could have been buried in a snow drift, somewhere, had we carried on. Luckily, as snow began falling in England, getting deeper by the hour, we listened to the alerts, on the radio, at each stage, they were warning of roads ahead possibly being closed, but nothing concrete, but they later stated that there was an even worse weather front, full of snow, coming in. The trip home was rather hair- raising, snow had fallen almost the entire journey home, with snow ploughs and gritters trying to keep motorways open, we arrived home, shaken but safe. Having driven over 100,000 miles a year for a number of years, this was a close one. To prove that we had been careful, we had checked the forecast the day before, and as we yhome that day. Nothing to worry about, maybe a light dusting of snow, but it was nothing like the one that hit us, as a huge Siberian cold front rushed into a warmer wetter front, lots of snow and ice, with strong winds, recipe for disaster. MET office do get it wrong, sometimes, luckily we stopped before going too far into the wilderness, but still a close enough call to thank our lucky stars. It was later deemed dangerous for over a week, with many roads completely closed, impassible. We went back when the weather improved, with NO snow reported all week, safer to do it later, rather than risk the dangers that lay ahead that night. Summer golf is easy, winter golf in the highlands, requires careful planning, and even then, there are no guarantees, as we found out. As Robert the Bruce's adapted words mentioned Andy, the best laid plans of mice and men, often go awry, seeing as you were up in the highlands, very poignant. You struck lucky under the circumstances, being caught up there in very rough weather, is something we cannot trust to fate. Luv to all. Thanks again for the content, Andy and Hannah.
That drive up the A9 brings back memories, so I'm glad you made it! Hope you kept going North as there are plenty more courses up there worth a visit. Well done and 'haste ye back!'
Likely to be on most golfers list. Golf is not just about the score it's about the land it's played on and the joy that gives and you always make the best of any course
Another mouthwatering vlog. I had the great pleasure of playing Royal Dornoch about 40 years ago Andy, on a beautiful Summer afternoon. Still one of my favourite golfing memories. Best photo in my opinion is Andy's photo C.
Played RD this summer and genuinely one of the best looking golf courses I have ever played, especially in May with the yellow gorse in full bloom. Still looks amazing in winter. What a place!
It's an incredible course big fella, and well worth the journey.played it a few summers ago.just stunning.every hole..don't give up big man.yer banter works with us average hackers.i play at Lanark..we all love ye down there..haste ye back..🏴👍👍⛳⛳
Oh the joys of winter links golf. Low sun, long shadows and hip flask at the ready. Looks like you were awe struck on one of the great natural links so well worth the arduous journey. BTW mats are essential to protect the turf when there is no growth and divot mix won't take. They're fine to play off I've been doing it for years, beats muddy fairways. All the photo's were great but Hannah C for me .
A wonderful video of a fantastic course. The views, the history, the lodging, everything. Just wish you could go back and do it again in warm weather when you could use the fairways. Gorgeous and inspiring.
Hi Andy, i was up there the week before you and stayed at the Links House. It was superb and we also played Tain and no mats around there and it was in very good condition.lovely part of the world up there. Great video once again.
Hannah C - Been on my Bucket List forever, Andy. This is about as good as it gets for camera work. Particularly liked the drone footage of the frosty fairways. Just brilliant.
Photo of the week for me Andy is andya, terrific course, added to my own list, which is getting longer and longer, thanks to you. Superbly videoed, what a stunning place. All the best Andy and Hannah, keep up the great work.
So glad you and Hannah made it safely to Dornoch. Such a great course, the finest I’ve ever played. I have to go with Andy C this time. Looking forward to your next adventure.
I live in Dornoch and Im always interested in videos of the Championship Course and yours is by far the best I’ve watched. . You’ve really captured the essence of the club and town. Great work.
You frighten me there Andy when I read the title, (ANDY A for the photo but all where good). Looks great course, must be worth a visit with my son one day. Brilliant episode, love this series.
I've seen this course a few time on You Tube. Never looked that special. However, you and Hannah made it look stunning. Not exactly hidden, but a true gem all the same,
That was definitely a real bucket list course, Andy. I would imagine those greens could humble a golfer quite easily. I am going with Hannah B, although all the pics were great.
Probably one of my favourite videos. The course was stunning as was the hotel. Bit hard to choose a favourite photo this week but I will go with Andy c
It’s the one golf course I didn’t get to actually play my last trip over this past July. We had a member who offered to host us back out at the last minute. Couldn’t make it work. I’ve been fortunate to play many brilliant places in Scotland, but Dornach remains #1 on the wishlist. I did stay in Dornach Station that night though, and it was fantastic fun, full of golfers eager to have a drink and chat for hours.
Glad you didn't give up this week Andy, that was a stunning course. Good to see the pic of the week too. Myself & 'er indoors (Kay) both agreed Andy A was the winner, closely followed by Hannah E. I've said it before, your videos are a relaxing escape from the winter weather. Keep em coming 😊
Hey my friend, Hope you had a great thanksgiving and you and your family have an awesome Holiday season. Keep up the grind brother. You’re the only golfer that I support every month. Love the videos and golf and still loving the style of videos you are making. Keep in touch my friend. Jay M.
Yet another stunning golf course that you have shared with us. Thank you for that. Surely one of the top ten in the UK and I agree that it would be hard to follow. Andy A for me this week..
Lovely video great looking course. Would love to play that course on a day like that then dinner and a few bevvies in a local hotel…one of the joy of life!
Hi Andy played the course a few times before It’s terrific. Have also played with Neil Hampton the secretary he is a terrific golfer + 3 handicap when we played against each other I have since moved to the West Midlands and I am still a country member at Fortrose another terrific course you should play it’s just down the road from Dornoch one of the oldest courses in the world nice to se you again Neil
Amazing beauty! I had the good fortune of attending the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst #2 and i can see where Dornach had influence on Ross but the seascape on Dornach is unlike any I've ever seen... Even Pebble Beach is a distant second to the grandeur of the most beautiful Scottish course ever!🙂 Question sir: Why haven't they held an Open at this wonderous track?
Woah! What a place. Best picture: Andy b. Wish I could play but we have a few inches of Snow here in Quebec. No golf before late april😢. Happy Holidays to all 🎅⛄️. Hockey has begun 🏒🥅

I must make the journey some time
since you have played courses Donald Ross learned from and was inspired by, a trip to play his designed courses in the US would make a good segment.
