I’m a small time content creator who has been posting regularly for almost 2 years and my game has improved the MOST simply by the lessons Mr. Trevino has shared.

Key points:
1. Everyone has their own unique swing

Lee Trevino is an excellent teacher. Instead of saying “do it like this” it’s “do what works for you” and more people need to know that
Problem is most people can't find what queue for them.
He’s teaching people who don’t know what works for them. Telling them “do what works for you” is the opposite of teaching.
Yup! That’s what I love about him is that he teaches people how to fish instead of giving them the fish 🎣

Lee Trevino is a national treasure. We should enjoy him while he still is around. It would be great if somebody would put out more videos of him talking about the golf swing, he has many stories throughout his career, or just shooting the breeze.
Completely agree! It would be a dream to do a video with him. Maybe I’ll start a podcast and invite him on to talk about the mental game 🤔

All true. And I like Trevino too. I also thought he was a great teacher. But I also seem to recall a 1990's book, article, radio broadcast (can't remember which but I could find it if I had to) which surveyed all the available top active and retired golfers then to find out who were the biggest assholes on the pro circuit that the public didn't know about. In a secret vote, 2 names emerged above all others for being the most disliked AMONG THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES. They were Gary Player & Lee Trevino. Voters during the secret ballot described these 2 ballot winners as intermittently rude, boorish, obnoxious, selfish, narcissistic and the 2 players who others least wanted to get paired with during tournaments. Otherwise they were pretty good guys I guess. The 2 clear winners in the Biggest Assholes On The Circuit According To Other Colleague Pro Golfers were LEE TREVINO & GARY PLAYER. Thought you all would liked to have known this before you all get too gushy and silly on the Trevino boy being your hero and all. Just saying.

Thanx a heap for sharing Lee Triveno's analogy of creating consistant club to ball impact. The tree example was a lightbulb moment for me. I now realise why my inconsistant ball flight had everything to do with ball position at address, striking the ball at 7 o'clock and rotate the hands, creates a draw or not rotating to create a cut which made so much sense. I have struggled for 36 yrs with hitting the ball flush. I'm now 61 going on to 62 in 4 months time. About 3 months ago I finally understood why my ball striking was so inconsistant. Now with that came my other issue. Draws and fades. Which were slices, hooks, blocks, pulls, shanks and thin shots and they were not so much my swing path as well but my hands not rotating or rotating to much, holding off, etc. I've been on a crusade ever since I watched Lees awesome golf tip lesson. So again thanx for sharing. It's made an old lover of the game, finally enjoying the confidence in myself again. Cheers.

Lee's always been one of the most approachable, relatable players...the People's Player. What an amazing man.

This lesson has improved my swing tremendously. I’d argue that it is the most effective short lesson/clip that I’ve found on UA-cam. It’s fascinating how quickly these couple of adjustments have impacted my ball striking.
he is one of the best ball strikers of all time. watched him hit over 100 balls and never stopped talking the whole time,.great teacher to all who listened. great man also, very humble. one of my favorites.
Lee Buck Trevino has the greatest insight into the golf swing since Ben Hogan. There is no golf instructor that understands basic cause and effect like Trevino. Rather than change the swing, he logically suggests the player change the ball position to improve contact and ball flight. Experiment for that perfect ball position that combines ideal contact and target line for your swing. Lee Trevino is the preeminent genius in simplistic golf instruction.
This guy was a legend of the game ... ! My favorite quote was after a playoff in a Major he was asked if he was nervous at any time . He said " I used to bet 100 Dollars on Golf matches when I only had 20 on me - THAT is pressure - not playing for a big payday".

The thing I like about Lee's teaching method is that it never changes. Basically no matter what you are doing, "chances are it's too far forward." 😀

I love Trevino, he learned how to play on his own and beat every player of his era at one time or another! These videos are solid gold for us high handicappers trying to get better one ball at a time!! Solid member of the UA-cam golf academy!!!!❤
Love this man. I've been watching him since 1968 when he won his first U.S. Open.
He's was my Dad's favorite player. I grew up watching him and loved his banter and attitude.

Lee Trevino used to attend a charity golf tournament in Ft. Smith, AR every year. (I believe that tournament has stopped) The public was allowed to walk around and Lee would tell us all kinds of golf tips. Chi Chi Rodriguez was there with him a few times. Awesome! in the 80s
This is great information. I had to listen to this tape a few times at different segments to really understand the arms attached to the trunk of the tree and the ball will tell you what it's doing based on your swing. Many times, I have thought the ball is going to the right, but never really realized the hands and body will square up to make it draw or go straight. Also moving the ball back will help for a solid strike as long as the hands and body square up.
Lee's advice about hitting consistently before we try to figure out aiming, brilliant! I love this comments on ball position and where the ball ends up. That's a big part of my struggle right now and this is super helpful Lee. Thanks!

I will be trying his wisdom on, "If you're not hitting it solid, keep moving the ball back." I hit more "fat" shots than "thin" shots. But I'm stubborn and think I'll get it right next time. This is probably what I've needed to do all along. Move it back. Like he said, everybody swings the club a little different. Just because a pro hits it great from just inside his instep, doesn't mean I can.
Exactly you will be able to once you understand how to hit the ball but until then it’s easier to do it with the ball back

amazing. never seen this before. another thing i’ll always remember reading somewhere is that pros are wayyyy better than us is simply the number of golf balls they hit versus us. they are pounding out tens of thousands of balls and we hit 40 balls on the range and expect to be good

Mr. T. is an absolute master of golf. The one lesson he gave regarding the philosophy of golf changed my game forever: 'Hit the ball, find it, and hit it again.' I no longer try to look up to locate the ball during the downswing. I began hitting more fairways, hitting the ball more pure, more distance, and better accuracy. As Mr. T. explains, it's the inches between your ears that's keeping you from shooting lower scores.

When I was a teenager, I watched Lee hit balls at Wethersfield CC with Herman shagging balls. I went to school with Claudia’s brother as well. I later went on to work for Spalding in golf ball marketing and was always amazed by his talent and hard work. God bless you Mr. Trevino…….a true golfing legend👍🙏⛳️⛳️.

I'm a 2 and the best golf tip I ever heard came from Mr. Trevino years ago when he was still playing on the PGA tour. He walked off the 18th green and was being interviewed about his nice round and then the TV guy said Lee do you have a tip for the weekend golfers out there? Lee gave a tip which I do not remember what it was and then turned to walk away and then turned back and leaned back into the microphone and said with a wry smile and wink "and it also doesn't hurt to hit two hundred or three hundred balls a day at the range either! There is the key to being a good golfer.

I have the name Trevino and get asked if we are related all the time as a joke but I truly looked up too and still do to this man. A small part of me always hoped we actually were more than the same last name.

I decided to play the ball more forward in my swing today and played great but I did need to play a club stronger. Also hit a nice cut.
Nice yeah this is usually only if you’re hitting the ball fat if you hitting the ball fin, you can put it up in your stance and you can go after it more

Out of the millions upon millions of golfers who have played for centuries, Lee Trevino is the best striker of them all.
Some may have been more powerful, worked it better, had better finesse, etc…but no one made contact with their club on the ball better than him.
He was the golfer’s golfer…
Golf is a precise game. Do one thing slightly wrong and you likely will get punished for it. I take notes on width of stance, distance from ball, and ball position for each club. This really helps me set up properly for each club. If I’m not hitting it solid, it’s usually due to a minor misstep in my setup. Crazy game.
You’re completely right! Setup is the most importantly fundamental. You sound like you love the game how long have you been playing?
This is a best comment. Most of the people don't even have an idea where is their ball is in their stance, when they move the ball "forward or back", they often ended up moving the stance with it

Nicklaus said that Trevino was the best striker of the ball he’d ever seen.
Lee Trevino was one of the few players that could go toe to toe against Jack Nicklaus and not wet his self. He was one of the greatest competitors of all-time in any sport.
Is this what U call the Lee way? Giving yourself the space and the time to be yourself in the golf swing.
What I like most about this video is that Lee Trevino plainly states that everyone swings dofferently. This is very important. Ben Hogan did not swing the same as Jack Nicklaus, who did not swing the same as Arnold Palmer. The King of Golf. Arnold Palmer said, "Swing your swing, I know, did!"

great video from a legend , i bet a few modern pros are not happy as they may be losing money from potential clients who will watch and try this rather than go and pay them for a lesson to change their swing, i will stick with lee, he knows best .
The more golf lessons I had the worse of a golfer I became . Instead of learning to play with my flaws I tried to fix them and ended up with a swing that never felt like mine . Now I can't go back to me . I forgot it . What he says is so true . Do You and learn to aim with it .

When my swing goes haywire, i aim 20 yards right, strong left hand grip, feel like im getting my back facing the target on the backswing and crush my irons, i can hit my 9 iron 180, pure flush on target no problem, can play 10 over easy most any day, never have any idea on where my driver clubhead is on any given day, always a crapshoot

I worked as a starter as course for several years and the biggest conceptual mistake I’d seen noobs make was trying to get a squared to target face hitting the ball a 6 o’clock + dead center be cause it seems logical.
Showing them the Hogan waggle and how the release of lag brings club in from inside to 7 as Lee suggests is something I show them to fix it
