Any future point to comment here? Last comment vanished about that i was aware of many hours of an airbase suddenly quiet and later learned that quiet or stand down overlapped the invasion.

One expects the enemy to prepare for war; his probability of attacking is a risk calculation. Here, the risk was perceived to be low. Clausewitz states one can't defend all fronts equally; ergo, focus on high threats over low ones; here, the south was perceived a low threat. Finally, Israel's "Maginot Line" was designed to stop small bands of terrorists, not a Hamas army; an army's what Israel faced on 10/7. Per Rumsfeld, it's the unknown known that gets us. Risk can be managed, never eliminated.

This is where I have to disagree. I cannot imagine that any Jewish person with any feeling can purposely let people be slaughtered. I do agree that they did not want to make the first move. If I do agree that that was wrong and they are responsible. But that they specifically wanted people to die for political reasons?! I'm sorry I cannot accept that idea and wrap my head around it.
