I have a bad habit of listening to music and staying far away from god. I tell myself everyday that I will commit to getting rid of these bad habits. But I don’t. I tell myself everyday that I will commit to achieving my goals. But I don’t. I feel like first thing I need to do is connect with god and get closer then everything will be better. ❤😂

Hello I completely get your problem, I was obsessed with music. But how I was able to stay away from it as much as possible is to start replacing it with something, so I started with nasheeds that have no musical instruments and then moved on to really interesting podcasts and try to find something really interesting videos to watch or listen to so then I can stay away from music and if it’s about listening to it while working or studying then go with nasheed that have no musical instruments or white noise or nature sounds.
May Allah make this easy for you

For me, i went from anasheed without instrumentals to quran. Just ignore the need to listen to music and stay steadfast inshaAllah. If you show Allah your effort first, Allah will make it easy. It starts with a strong mindset. Also, I grew closer to Allah after stopping with music. Music puts a barrier between you and spiritual growth.

Sister don't publicize your sins. Allah Glory be to Him Forgives all sins but publicizing them is super bad

    • @User123-l4j

@dalhaanu one of the wisdoms the prophet forbade sins to be exposed, is to prevent normalizing it within society. The fact is that music is already normalized. And her reaching out this way can do the contrary. It can motivate people to stop listening. By calling it out it creates a reverse effect and unnormalizes it.

06:05 I'd like to think that we all die when life won't be beneficial for us, or we won't be beneficial to life, after having reached our peak. This is the rahma of Allah. Maybe this man died because things would go downwards after reaching his new destination, he might fall back in his old ways. Allah took his soul before that could happen. Maybe the moment he was traveling for tawba, was the purest he could ever get.

Subhan'Allah - that's really good insight and observation there. There is a not very known dua where we can ask Allah to grant us life if it is beneficial for us ,and death of it is beneficial for us. In Arabic it would be:
اللهم أحيني إذا كانت الحياة خيرا لي و توفني إذا كانت الوفاة خيرا لي.....
There be similar variations of this dua
depending on the hadith and related Islamic texts.

Those soldiers used drugs to not be aware or forget the crimes they were committing, there was a purpose to their use but when they went back to the US the purpose wasn’t there anymore so they didn’t need it and stopped, that’s basically how addiction works. If anyone is struggling with a habit they want to break they have to ask what is this habit fulfilling? Fix that and you won’t need to do that habit anymore

Salam sister. You can do it, and it’s not hard.. I did it long ago. Here is how I did it. You have to choose a reason that is spiritual, and stick to it. For instance: I can’t go on smoking and worship Allah at the same time….. this is very strong. Then, what I did was : I chose an important spiritual event, like, let’s say Ramadan starting in two weeks… and I said to myself I only have two weeks to stop smoking as I can’t do Ramadan with smoking. Then I talked to my cells and the Light, and I asked them to delete every memory of a cigarette , every memory of a need of a cigarette and every memory in my brain. I also asked to erase any need to smoke again ever..Then I forgot… in two weeks I had stopped smoking without any effort. I just forgot to take a cigarette. Since then I never touched any cigarette anymore, I never felt any need even In stressful situations… I was not even Muslim at that time, but this prepared me for meeting Islam , the true Islam, and converting later. I think the most important thing to do is to find a very strong reason. And a spiritual reason is the highest reason you can find. Alhamdulillah, you can do it , for sure you can♥️🙏

Remember that if you fall into the habit again, dont forget Allāh's mercy - ask sincerely for forgiveness, and remember that He forgives all sins. In a hadith we are told that all of us are sinners, so dont let shaytan despair in Allāh's mercy if you make a mistake. And sincerely ask Allāh to help you give it up ❤
