    In this weeks video we are looking at ways to modernise the full head of highlights and take your foils to the next level, If sick of spending hours and hours breaking your back putting in foils then this is going to make your life so much easier!!! Its quicker, easier and in my opinion looks way better. there has never been a better time to change, people are coming in with extra long regrowth use this time now to move thing forward.
    Balayage has quickly become one of my favourite techniques! but I still love a good highlight so finding something that marries the two looks together for me is a fantastic thing and that’s where this foiliage technique really comes into play for me.

    No, you are not cheating the clients James, some of us have anxiety so sitting a long time in a chair is hard. So in fact those shortcuts are a blessing to some! I also think most would prefer to go a bit faster. Thanks ever so much for all the knowledge you share. It is very much appreciated! I hope you are doing well during these crazy times, much love and peace to you.

      My son told me that if we pay for the premium they make more money without us watching ads. I know not everyone can afford it, I myself am going to check and see if it is possible for this. Just an Idea. I did not even realize it was a thing I could do. It also can be able to be shared with a certain amount of family to use as well.

    I love easy and fast technics , most techniques that we see are practically 70- 80% bleached blond hair streaks . This is good to watch to remind us that we could go easy on the foils and introduce clients to softer looking balayage .

    Happy Birthday James. I love, love, love your mission and your highlight techniques. I'm returning to the craft after many years away (35). The last time I used bleach I pulled it thru a cap! So your foiling demonstrations are providing me with much needed learning! So I practice, practice, practice on my doll head mainly to feel competent with using, handling and folding foils. I want to believe I'm not alone and perhaps more folks my age are returning to the craft and continuing their own learning journey.

    This is extremely helpful!!! Thank u so much for your videos!!! I have to highlight my sister's hair which is currently a disaster but my stylist can't fix her hair due to COVID so she gave me all the tools in order to do her hair. I have to put in lowlights to break up the blond and give it dimension but I know you had said in this video you don't do lowlights. Can you please do a video showing how to do highlights with lowlights? My sister had a really bad dye job where her whole head is brassy blonde with 4 inch roots so not sure how else to color down her hair without doing lowlights

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому +1

      Well in some instances when did the only thing that you can do is low like the hair so I do do them sometimes I just generally avoid them! If you are trying to defuse the existing colour it’s brassy whatever you do have a couple of choices you can do highlights and low lights as a mixture and create a more blended look you could do a root shadow and then Tone and down To neutralise the brassy effect there are many many ways around what your sister has on her head but low lights is definitely one of them and I would just put the low lights in like I’d put in a set of foils in exactly the same fashion hope that helps all the best James

    I love all your videos!!! One problem I have when I hilight is when my client wears her hair down it’s just a perfect blend. But then when she wears it let’s just say in a bun. I feel like half inch away from her hair line it’s just dark and the hilights are hidden inside because I did a diagonal back . Any tips on what to do with the hairline. Like baby lights or maybe different sectioning? Thank you

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому

      Thank you very much, much appreciated so the way that you could fix that problem is to do your first two or three foils mirroring exactly what the hairline does and make sure those first two or three foils and more baby light type foils

    Love your videos! I have a question for you. I used Shades EQ for all my toning. I find the toners fade so quickly. Should I be putting them on dry hair or much dryer hair? Would that make it last longer?

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому

      Fantastic thank you very much yes shades EQ does last longer on to dry hair also if you process it for maximum processing time 20 minutes you will also increase the longevity I don’t know if that helps if it does great if it doesn’t let me
      Know 👍🏻

    With those horizontal sections on the front side panels, would it make it even more blended to alternate where you pick up the skip slice on each section? Or would you create too much dimension with that? Thanks!

    I love the foil technique and outcome.
    I would like your advice please over a full head tint on my wife. She is base 5 with some gold and red warmth. She likes a bright red 5.62 and I add .66 red pigment and 20 vol. as she likes a more violet red, would you recommend adding some blue pigment?
    Many thanks James John Carter Hairdresser

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому +2

      Hi John thank you very much glad you enjoyed the video, Yes absolutely you could add in some blue pigment just make sure it’s a very very small amount if you’re going to add in blue as the pigment of blue is extremely strong it is the darkest tone and therefore it has the most tone. I will probably be out on the side of caution and adding just violet
      😁👍🏻

      Hi James forgive me for asking more questions.
      I qualified many years ago with an apprenticeship and city and guilds. I have been to loreal colour school and had a mobile business in the 80s 90s new romantic precision cutting era. I have been to updated colour and cutting courses to include barbering. I still don't get fading mens hair. Usually I believe you go from 0 to guard 1/2 , 1, 2, 3 and so.on depending on the level.of fade and height.of fade. I do not have the confidence to face despite a course and to.use the cut throat razor on the neck hair. Would you be able to do a modern simple fade please. Also would you be able to show simple easy wedding hair up. Some people can do this. I can do a pleat or bun , but find everything else us difficult to make it look natural up swept for a wedding. I really appreciate your help. It is also taking my mind if from a very recent breavement. I would love to start my own business again, but I am 57 and feel it's too old. I am currently a qualified social worker but miss hairdressing. I do know where to begin to start again. Everything isva financial risk at the moment. Thank you James. JOHN

    I need a good full head highlights tip for a client who wants loads of blonde, she has recently had it done but wants to stick with blonde only now, no low lights. I have recently come to the same conclusion about low lights also, they do end up not being an ideal choice a lot of the time, especially in bleached hair x

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому

      Hi Nicola so I would say skip/technique is a fantastic way of getting the maximum impact into someone’s hair who wants to go blonder if you have previously done a lowlight in their hair you could do a normal set of highlights and just pick out the low lights in the weave and bleach up the low lights I have a video all about doing a full head of highlights on my channel already if you go over to the channel click on the playlist at the top then click on colouring it is in there go and check it out alternatively head to UA-cam search the life of hair highlights And you will find all the highlighted videos I have made
