Can't wait for the Trogly museum, when it comes into existence I will be booking a flight from the UK 👍🤘
I'll be on the same plane!
Back in the late 70's I sent away for a promotional package from Gibson that I saw in a Guitar Player magazine add. It came with the standard dealer kit of brochures and some posters, one of which was that one. I had that on my wall all through high school until I left home for the Navy. Thanks for the memories Austin.
Going for round 3 of a top comment using the exact same sentence:
This stupid established titles sponsorship is wearing me down
Must be very tiring having to drag the timeline on to the end of the sponsor section.
My friends:
"Omg you know so much about guitars, how did you get all that information??"
Me:
"Trogly's Guitar Show"
I have some original comic book art framed in so-called 'museum glass' and it's excellent stuff. I really like the case candy you got, and your enthusiasm for what you're doing is what I like most about your channel.
Established Titles are the new silver burst
I have an extensive collection of autographed music memorabilia, signed albums, lithographs, posters, etc and have a lot of experience framing my stuff. My frame shop calls what you’re looking for “Museum Glass”. UV protection and low to zero glare. It’s the best stuff to use. Good idea to shop around, and if possible negotiate a volume discount because the highest quality glass, which really is what you want, is going to be pretty expensive. Good luck!! Ahhhh - quick edit. That museum glass covering the donuts is exactly the same stuff I use. I’ve seen that display. Like I said expensive as hell, but worth it.
Always love your show. The museum sounds fantastic- hope you get it up and running ✌️
I feel like you are opening up the same guitar over and over and over again!
Toothpick method always works for me.
That museum will be out of this world!!
How about a "Calendar Series", where you review and demo each monthly guitar of a given year?
Do a full video on the crazy trem! Actually mount it to one of your Les Pauls!
I’ve learnt so much about Gibsons from you- extremely knowledgeable mate
Video Idea: Would love to see you get a roughed up guitar and see how you deep clean it and polish it, with techinics and products to use, what to avoid, etc. Tutorial style, with different finishes, nitro, poly and stuff! Don't skip it! I wanna see the tarnished one becoming shinning LORD! *wink wink*
I believe he did do something like this, check out “saving grandpa’s old guitar” or something like that
@@assnapkined9295 Oh yeah, I remember seeing that now that I looked it up! Other channel do it better though I guess. Like Dave's World of Wonderful Stuff... I wouldn't mind a rant free version though! ;)
Or make a second channel of you just doing whatever guitar thing you’re doing and just post it. You can even swap out the audio to some guitar playing etc
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸
🍪 🥇
Wallmart award for you 🍪 🍪 🍪
Congrats Elamon51
Congratulations on climbing to the summit of the Mole Hill and earning a Gold Medal.
Nice!
Oh I want that funky bridge
I can't wait til your museum is built, I will place it highly on my bucketlist.
If you have a stripped hole in wood instead of using toothpicks use a golf tee with wood glue. They are usually hardwood and are the perfect size for most screw holes.
I'm in the middle of a hurricane but still watching Austin. 🤘
I've only ever gotten one guitar where the strap button near the neck needed some attention. The 82 Studio Greenburst I just got was one of a few that the strap button on the tail end was loose and needed to be fixed. I've never seen a Map guitar in person but one of the dealer shops I frequented years back that is no longer in existence had that same poster . Still no word on when Harley Davidson and Gibson are doing linked products.
Thanks for the video, can't wait to see the calendars!
Another beautiful LP!
All my old case candy packets like yours included a leather fifties style guitar strap. Maybe that only came with Historics.
the calendars are very cool.
Rebuild that bass it would be sick
Someone once said, *_"If you build it, they will Rock!"_*
I love seeing the Gibson esoterica (promo material, etc). Looking forward to a closer look at the calendars!
I’d love to know where you found the Gibson USA Map Guitar Poster.
You have to tell us where your museum will be! I’ll be there!👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for such great content, always.
What do you use to polish the guitar?
Have you ever considered including a professional recording studio to your museum concept? Artists could come record with historic guitars from the museum. Possibly work out guitar loaning/trading programs to bring in new interesting pieces with new stories (and add to the stories of the guitars you've already documented). Obviously, i'm on board with the minigolf too
Yeah don't stop the workbench thing, your the only that does it, and it's a huge part why I watch you, it is very interesting to me to see the inside of these guitars, learned a lot from that...fact you do THE best reviews that I've found on UA-cam...I thought I knew all there was to les pauls....wrong....feel like an infant since i found you lol...
The color key chart is way cool! I will definitely pay your museum a visit when you get up and running. went to Songbirds museum in Chattanooga TN earlier this year. and that was after they sold off the really rare stuff. It was still packed with a lot of great guitars, but the vault area was not open anymore.
No playing demo on the fish?
Just purchased a 2002 Limited Edition Copper Top Studio Les Paul and I absolutely love it. Just wondering if there’s a video where anyone has documented one of them? I was told only 200 were made.
Subscribing to Trogly was definitely a step in the Right Direction...
Thanks for sticking around!
The amount I’ve learned in the last year is astounding!
Definitely knowledgeable in Norlin era Gibsons. But in the end you realize he’s a speculator that price gouges a lot of models and isn’t that proficient in maintaining, fixing guitars, or getting a good tone. Loved his Norlin videos but everything else is bad blues lawyer taste
@@matthewhirt6092 Actually!!
@@popeye089 Also His recent Fender vids are spectacular too!!
Why does gibson put red backs on guitars where it clashes with the top? That les paul should have a black or matching burst on the back.
If you don't have exterior windows, then UV doesn't get in and the minimal UV presented by interior lighting can be filtered at source (so you don't have to buy giant amounts of glass). If you plan on having a *lot* of guitars, it might just be smarter to put UV blocking/reflective windows in and then there is no UV in the museum and you don't need cases (you can put mesh/bars if you want to keep people from actually touching them or crossing the ropes).
Personally I'd put in UV blocking windows and without cases the natural light will really let people see the life in your pieces. If you keep the air in that space exchanged properly you can pull any particles that people shed into your HVAC quickly so you don't have contamination and dust. If you're treating rooms then humidity is actually pretty easy to control once you've got airflow/heat/cooling managed.
The easiest thing to do would be to partition medium size rooms off, give them each a couple windows plus some automatic light balancers for your internal lighting (like pro podcasters use), then their environments will be easier to keep clean and stable but still offer a nice experience. They're of a decent size but not too big so you can move displays and groups around okay enough without having to replumb and rewire everything all the time. I'd also suggest using electrical busway to enhance the clean lines and configurability as well as monitoring solutions being included (it's expensive but every time a company folds so do their labs/manufacturing so it's relatively affordable on ebay-ish places).
I miss my old job...I used to build a lot of labs. But being retired is cool too; less money, no bosses, it works out.
Cc some pretty cool swag you got there. I'm not getting any younger, let's get that museum going!
In 1999 (maybe it was 1998) I bought my 1999-dated Gibson Les Paul Classic in Bullion Gold through Musician's Friend. It came with a matte black with gold lettering Zippo lighter (which I still have). It also came with an approximately 5"x7" small hardcover Gibson-branded spiral notebook with the same black field with gold Gibson lettering motif. The final item of the set was a black and gold Gibson pen. Does anyone know anything about these items? Did anyone else receive these 3 (or even just 1 of any of those 3 items individually)?
The Super Dirt pickup price tag sticker is from Woh Fatt Music which is a music shop in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
"Double cream dirty fingers pickup". That sounds so wrong.
It cleaned up nice
If anyone would know it would be you. Are Gibson 59 A pickups a thing? I remember having one but can't find anything online. Any help would be awesome. Thank you
Quick, call Larry Dimarzio to sue Gibson for the double creams !!!!!
I appreciate all the time you put into making these videos Trog. Thanks for all the good times.
Elyse Steinman (deceased) from the band Raging Slab had one of those Gibson U.S.A map guitars.Did Billy Gibbons play one too?
That's an absolutely beautiful guitar. I love your show and seeing all these "works of art" is great.
$200k on glass display cases?
By the time you've saved up the dollars, technology will do 3d holographic projections from digital scans of the original guitars, now safely locked away in guitar cases. 😜
mini-golf! heck yeah! (the Kiss Museum in Vegas had a KISS themed mini-golf course on site)
5:17 the price tag is in RM220 is Malaysia currency which is 100 usd give or take...
I very much want to know more about the Pro Tune thing.
This is the only show I watch religiously, dudes alright
That trem makes a Kahler look reasonable. Those string trees. yack
Your guitar museum is going to be SOOOO!
AWESOME!!!
@thetroglysguitarshow
Is this it?
i like that lp. as grandpa would say, "id buy that for a dollar." nice gibson swag too.
Trog, when is Gibson going to hire you as a spokesperson. I personally am addicted to your show. Rock on!!!
👍
Good evening Andy
@@sgt.grinch3299 Good morning Sgt.
That trem reminds me of the Dusenberg Les Trem, I wonder how they compare
Mate...that museum have you done any feasibility studies for something like that? You need to be aligned with a patronage or government backing. Has there EVER been a successful commercial museum of ANY sort? Ever? One that only relies on people through the door to survive? museums need a lot more than ticket sales to be viable.
That was fun! ✌🏼👍🏼
If you're worried about uv fading the finishes, you could just do it like the Country Music Hall of Fame and have it without any windows in the display rooms.
You could always apply a UV Blocking film to any outside windows, however some interior lighting still produces a good amount of UV Light.
This is less of an issue these days with dedicated LED lighting.
I really think a clear UV blocking film on any outside facing windows with the use of interior LED lighting would be sufficient to protect all of the guitar finishes from premature fading.
i love that pro-tune, i hope some company will bring back something like that, love routless trems, wish the frx was less ugly i like those, its got the same bar issues as any fr or fender style trem so I'll still take a bigsby over them every other day but still love them
Trogly, the Indiana Jones of the Gibson treasures! 👍
A tutorial on setup and cosmetic refurbishment would be both helpful and entertaining
I know the shop you got the Dirty Fingers from, it's a small mom-and-pop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I've been to the shop myself, some strange guitars in there, saw loads of Nighthawks, it has been years though.
I watch this show about every day
I have museum glass on my favorite piece of art. It’s worth it.
there are companies that make films that can be put on your exterior windows that will cut UV....then that 70% glass is less of a concer
5:20 Woh Fatt Music House, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Interesting! 😳
Gonna have to get my passport when you open your museum I live in Ontario canada so not super far to go to you.
Yeah, that output jack right about Lukeville, Arizona. Border patrol might have something to say about that.
LOL, I thought the same
Hello Mr. Trogly.
I live in So. Cali, but you can bet your butt that when your museum opens, I'll be one of the first people to visit.
Great video as usual.
😉
Do you plan to do a Epiphone Joe Bonamassa ES-335 62 reissue review? Would like to know your thoughts on it :)
I am highly excited you're getting your museum!
I love this channel. Id replace the black pickup rings with cream
those pickups are rad , who cares if they were installed, still a score edit: i have that same case candy but its missing the cord, it gonna be on ebay this week, i was wondering if the truss rod paper belonged in there glad you showed it i almost threw it in the junk drawer .
That double white bobin had Malaysiam price tag. Imported by...and the price was 220 Malaysian Ringgit
Would be $46 at current rates.
Hey all
Greetings BeatlesCuber
Well done, you earned a Silver Medal.
beautiful case!
Nice one.
PLEASE INSTALL THAT PRO TUNE AND DO A FULL REVIEW!!!
You shouldn't ever have to fill or drill a guitar body to get the straplocks tight. If the wood is stripped out of the existing hole from the original screw, all you need to do is get a slightly bigger screw with coarse threads and put a small drop of gorilla glue on the very tip of the screw before you slowly hand thread it into the hole, making sure to keep continuous pressure inward until just snug with minimal compression of the felt washer. If the screw fits through the strap button, it's not gonna damage the guitar.
That’s sounds more professional than the way I do it. Stick a toothpick in the hole, snap it off, screw back in.
@@sethgross3904 everybody knows that quick fix. I'm talking about a permanent repair that won't fail again.
Trog, I'm 52, so you've gotta get the museum up and running before I drop dead please!
That map guitar poster is well worth 30 bucks don't sweat it. A poster would cost you $20 in the store just a regular poster you got a good deal bro trust me
The mini golf facility lol
dude sick finds man!
I own a matting and framing business & would be interested in that donut/glass display if you want to get rid of it :-)
Z is for late, Mason Lodge tonight. Clean it up and Rock on Trogly.
Greetings Sarge, I do hope all is well with You and Yours.
We lost our Senior Pug Monday afternoon, eventually time catches us all.
He is greatly missed by his family, so grateful he was with us as long as he was.
Give Chloe a big hug.
So are we going to have to come to Bryan to see the museum?
I want to play Trogly mini golf!!!
Keep up the great work Trog !!!!!!
Congrats on 250k!
Review a jaguar hh special!
Very interesting episode 🎉🎉🎉
