Not much of a mono hull fan, but when done right they can be the most majestic vessels on the sea. Pure poetry, Tango and Chrisco, naval architecture at its best...
I'm not always a fan of the newer designs of sailing vessels. I love the lines of a traditional sailboat. That being said this was very satisfying to watch this yacht being single handed. It also moves so graceful through the water. It was beautiful to watch.
get a cheap one, hell if you're forward enough find one that's parked by a house that's clearly not been used in 20 years and just ask for it. by the end of the week you too can be sitting stationary on the water hoping for a gust of wind.
@Commenter2 Said the non sailor! This is truly a beautiful boat and an experience I'd love to share. One man, a beautiful boat, the wind, nature, the waves, few things compare....
he could in theory put a 90deg course change in on the auto pilot and go work the electric winches but he might get sore hands so probably better to call the crew
@@thekiteboatparty3568 Put three (four or five?) wraps of the windward sheet on the drum, walk to wheel and dial in the 90 degree course change, walk to leeward drum and unwind the wraps as she points up, walk to windward (becoming leeward) drum and run the electric winch until trimmed. Too easy.
To all of you who seem to need the obvious explained to you as if you were say...a small child..or a Cocker Spaniel, as Jeremy Irons might say. The guy on the deck? Is a model with some sailing experience, not impossible to find, who's being given instructions from someone on a boat nearby you can't see, so they can film a Wally boat commercial for their new model on what seems to be a bluebird perfect day in some harbor. All he's got to do is look 'dashing' in a refined way and keep it from tipping over. You don't see him rounding any buoys. So please, some fresh jokes if you would.
I like the nice clean deck design of this boat. Since he's sailing it single-handed, that will help out when he has to run up to the bow to help the jib around when he's trying to tack... I wonder why they didn't provide some kind of seat behind the wheels. If he ever decided to sail across the Atlantic he might not want to be standing up the whole time? :-)
Haaaah! Typical case of the client wanting to be a designer and then adding the tragic logo they designed, to this designer masterpiece... such is the nature of the custom design business.
Beautiful high class boat. But the Magic Carpet Cubed from Wally is even more beautiful and have seats left and right on deck. Big dinning room and large kitchen downstars.
This boat is literally on my bucket list. My dream is to sail aboard her some day. I started a new company in mid 2021 and as soon as is fiscally possible, I am flying to Italy to find this dream of a sailboat and hopefully spend a day aboard her. Lots of hard work ahead, all the better to stand where he is standing...see you soon Wally..
When there are no waves, the boat looks beautiful ... And how does it go with the ocean waves? How fast does the skipper run from the helm to the helm on a slippery deck?
Somewhere there's this big source of epic, heroic, hyped up, Godlike dreamy, spiritual choruses and synth strings with profound booming drums. You can't sail without it. I guess he spent so much on the hull, he ran out of money to build a cabin. I can see why he doesn't have any friends. Not much to do up there on a blank deck.... nowhere to sit. One question: When he comes about, he lets go of the wheel to run across the beam to the other side, what happens to the rudder?
A very nice, very expensive, super impractical boat... just like most exotic things. And I would want one, if I had more money than I knew what to do with, it's a hell of a "day boat"
The stark simplicity of design, clean lines and huge offset tiller on this boat is incredible. What it lacks is a dozen playboy bunnies, a well stocked bar and a 50 Cal. Gatling gun to keep the creditors away.
I want to build a Tango at maybe 65' , but same proportions. Just downsize it from 100 to 65' . Perfect to live on. And the deck and structure is actually much easier cheaper than a monohull with the PVC housing over the deck. The key to this boat is to have a retracting Keep, and possibly a canting keel.
I suppose its silly to ask a sensible question on a forum like this, but I'm an optimist, so here goes: the powered winches make it straightforward to handle single-handed the sails, and the other lines, when at sea, but recovering to the berth requires a bit more effort. Is it commonplace to ask the marina staff to assist with the docking? I've seen many sailors of 40-50 footers enter their berth unaided, and I'd imagine this boat is even more steady with its deep keel and low-windage, so is this standard practice? I'd imagine not needing a 20-man crew would make it a much more relaxing experience, and one that could be indulged more often. I once sailed on a 12metre yacht of a much earlier generation than the Wally, and it was a very gentle boat to handle, far easier than a Fireball dinghy, for example, so I'm not surprised these bigger Wallys are so refined. Does any one know the procedure for getting in and out of a berth?
While the boat can be sailed and maneuvered single handed, there's no way its maintained without an extensive crew. To include docking and tying up. I imagine in practice for a day-sail, the crew would stay in port to hang out dockside waiting to launch, recover, and then cater to the owner and his guest's needs, just like they have for time immemorial.
@@jamestheotherone742 He has plenty of electric winches so everything is push-button at sea. When everything goes smoothly you can get a big boat into a pontoon berth solo without much more than a wheel and a reliable engine. I was really wondering whether the Wally has been set up to do the last 2 metres even in awkward conditions. As the rest of the boat is well thought through, I'd expect that the whole boat can be close-quarter controlled using a single joystick. If she were my boat I'd not want any crew too close, unless carrying a tray of Champagne and a warm towel. But, then, you do need somebody to wash off the salt and put the covers on, but, please, not until after I've got into the Bentley and headed home.
@@bmpowellicio I'm sure while cruising or if the owner doesn't want to single hand it she is set up for a full crew. Many hands make light work. I'd like to see a little model spitfire landing on that thing. Flown by a gerbil.
Dancing with your lady, barefoot on the ocean, outstanding
What a beautiful sailboat! To sail something like that would be like a dream come true!
That was amazing! So amazing I have to say it twice.
Amazing this is. Very impressive the sails and speed and only 1 person on deck. Would love to see the rest of this vessel.
Of course the crew are nervously massed below hoping something doesn't go amiss during the shoot. Beautiful clean lines on her.
Now that's close hauled to the wind
I think they have control from down stairs blue tooth connection

All on one side as well.
