    Why on earth would someone choose Pico 4 for sim racing when you can buy pico neo 3 link which is far superior with display port uncompressed signal and for less money? It also outclasses quest 2 when talking about pc vr. Terrible advice on this video

    If you wear glasses, spend $50USD at HonsVR and get lenses for your headset with your prescription. I have the reverb G2 V2 and have had it for a while.

    If VR Realism is your only concern get a PC dedicated unit. For me I like the quest because I can also take it for different stand alone games. but it does come with some snuggle struggles getting it to be great with Steam VR. Then again I am still rocking an Nvidia 1080 but it still runs well and taking lines is so much better

      what would you recommend for a PC dedicated unit? I dont care about playing any other games except for asetto corsa. My budget isn't massive but Im willing to spend around £500?

    I still have Frankenquest 1, can’t justify an upgrade after experiencing PSVR2. Until someone makes a truly plug and play, lightweight and comfortable PC equivalent everything else just feels like a compromise.
    The rumored Steam Deckard concept is the only one that feels like a true step forward.

    I never used a VR headset so ended up getting the quest2 on Amazon. I have 30 days to return it.
    My first game i tried was dirt rally 2. To say i was blown away is an understatement.
    I did not realize how you it makes you feel like your in the car.
    I just pretty much wasn't expecting to actually feel like i was really in a car. I guess i just expected it to feel like closer to a 2d experience.
    I didn't race but just went into the test area. I did start to get a little motion sickness and stopped. I read that with time out should go away.
    The little driving i did do could feel more like i could control the car because I'm in there car virtually.
    Im also using Fanatec csl dd wheel with pedals, shifter and handbrake.
    I'll most likely send this back and get the quest 3 or something better.

      YES! Nice one I'm so glad you tried VR! It is amazing and I'm so happy you experienced that too. As for the motion sickness I had to go and lie down once or twice originally but then it suddenly stopped so I'm hoping it's not too bad for you. But the Quest 3 is INSANE. I've got my first impressions video out tomorrow so keep an eye out for that. Welcome to VR and welcome to the channel 👍🏻

    Sadly the psvr2 for now is unmatched at its price point and not (really) working in PC yet.
    And sadly gt7 for now is the only console sim racing game supporting the curent sony vr headset.
    When looking at similarly priced headsets from the likes of htc or meta they either have roughly the same resolution but no oled panels or far worse resolution.
    So let's hope for drastic improvements in 2024.

    Excuse me generously, but how were you able to connect Quest 2 directly to the video card? In my humble opinion this is simply impossible, Quest 2 only connects to USB via a cable. Which is also not included.

    • @AD270479
      @AD270479 10 місяців тому

      He said he had it connected directly to the video card 'via a cable'... Video cards have USB ports also. And whether it comes with cable or not, someone in his position likely has spare cables lying around that might do the job... Or, they just bought one separate when they bought the headset?

      I have a Quest 2 and I'd say that it's not something I would recommend. It's fantastic if you're new to VR, but eventually you'll get past the immersion bump and you'll feel like graphics and smoothness simply aren't cutting it.
      Seriously, F1 23 looks like a game from the PS3 with the Quest 2. For me, it has to do with the fact that VR is an immersive experience first. The moment you start focusing on anything but immersion, that's where the fidelity is lacking, the graphics quality stands out more and I lose interest quick.
      The only VR headsets I ever tried were the Oculus Rift (1st revision) and Quest 2. The Quest 2 was surprisingly more impressive, considering that it was much cheaper on release, and that it is wireless, but still... the graphics quality is just unbearable for me.
      I can get immersed in new experiences with the Quest 2 because VR in and of itself is amazing, but racing with such poor visual quality all the time... hell nah, I'd rather play on my 4K screen any day of the week.

      The good thing about the Rift-S is it's direct connection to the video card's DP port, thus full image quality with NO compression, the resolution by today's standards is getting dated, but if you are happy with the Rift-S resolution then it's all you really need, you can make it look even better by upping the SteamVR resolution (same goes in the Oculus PC software). The next step up from the Rift-S for real PCVR HMDs would be the Valve Index, or something like the Samsung Odyssey Plus (Same res as the Index but AMOLED screens, but it is a Windows Mixed Reality HMD, not so great). Then it's the HP Reverb G2 V2 (also a WMR HMD but this is a amazing HMD), then it's sell a kidney since the rest of the PCVR (DP Connection) are priced over $1000 USA. (Varjo Aero, Pimax Crystal and Bigscreen Beyond).

    What about the Og Htc Vive is it worth 300$ second hand for simracing?

    • @thesimracingshaolinstudent
      @thesimracingshaolinstudent  Рік тому +1

      I would say for that price range consider the others as well and choose one that suits your needs best.

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 10 місяців тому

      The problem with the OG Vive is it's horrible screen door effect, it made sim racing really ugly and so much visual detail being lost, as for the original HMDs of the time (2016 - 2017), the Oculus Rift CV1 was much better for sim racing.

    • @tristanwegner
      @tristanwegner 8 місяців тому +1

      The main benefit of og Vive is the still excellent room scale tracking. The lighthouses are also compatible with never vives. Comfort only ok. Screen is low res. But at least OLED.

    People complaining about compression and opting for lower resolution and fresnel lenses because of that?
    Compression is there, don't get me wrong. But the image quality is much better than people make it seem with these complaints. Having Meta Pro, the pancake lenses are so big step forward I see it easily worth some minor artifacts. Which, to be honest, I can't even see when playing, or see very rarely for a very limited time.

    • @thesimracingshaolinstudent
      @thesimracingshaolinstudent  11 місяців тому +1

      I absolutely love my Quest 3. Coming from a Valve Index it’s night and day. Image quality is unreal and I don’t even have to wear any prescription lenses within the headset like I had to do with my Index. That still blows my mind. The experience I get from it is so much more immersive than before. So happy with my purchase. I personally don’t have any complaints at all 👍🏻

    • @jackr.749
      @jackr.749 10 місяців тому +1

      I don't have a Quest Pro, but the visible compression of the Quest 3 is a LOT better than that of the Quest 2 and even Pico 4, my guess is the XR2 Gen 2 chip is handling the video decoding a LOT faster and better thus much less visual compression. Even using the Quest 3 in wifi mode with Virtual Desktop can yield some pretty good results. :)
