You made that way more difficult than it should have been. Lots of good suggestions in the comments so I won’t repeat them. Hope you got it worked out.
Like most people are saying, get rid of the wood bunk boards and replace them with 3” or 4” pvc and put your trailer a little deeper in the water so you don’t hit the frame when you drive in.
I honestly abandoned the dock and just put the kayak by the boat ramp whenever possible. I then just back it off and use a rope to swing it on. You might go for a swim getting the kayak started like this. Effective none the less though. Good trailer.
hi...don't give up. that's what men do. they create. now you can see the flaws in your system and i'm sure you will make it way better. thanks for the video....lol ps...i made myself a small crane with a 12v winch to lift up my kayak and then swing and slide my kayak in my pick up truck. it's "almost" perfect, and it actually works great...lol
@@claysaroundtown is the ladder rack pretty stable>? and does it come with all you need to install it in the trailer the way you have it, i wanna do something like that but i was thinking treated 2x4s but that rack looks nice.
@@rodrigoelgu extremely sturdy first I welded it to trailer but u could drill and bolt second in order to make it tall I flipped top upright pipe there fore had to use my own pipe as cross members
Bunks are to wide. They need to be at the width of your scuppers so that the full kayak has support or else you can end up with damage to your kayak. If you are gonna use the winch to load each time I would recommend putting a roller at the end of the trailer so the kayak doesn't get wedged against the frame when you are trying to load it. Also lower your poor net and poles before loading. Good luck and have fun
I probably will once I get the kayak alignment right in shallow water it doesn’t align itself so I need the control. But when I get all my mods done I will post another vid . So far I lengthened the tongue to get deeper in the water without drowning the car, and put fat 8 inch wheels on it instead of 12 in stock to level trailer but also sit lower in the water
Why all this trouble? Just beach your yak, go get your car /trailer and park them next to it, lift the bow of the yak on trailer bunk, push the kayak on the trailer by the stern and call it a day. No? Why trying to imitate a boat lunch? I don’t get this. Sorry. Nice yak (I have the PDL one and love it).
Thanks for the comment. I still like my method with the improvement s in comments. Should make an update video tho and probably your way as well for educational purposes. As Most viewers are learning .

Went with exhaust pipe
Just back up further. Things slide a lot better when there wet! 😊
YES yes they do

taking a chance since this is not recent but what did you use to extend the height on your racks

Stock height reverse for width then longer cross bars on top
Thanks for the reply. Nice build
Please consider subscribing
Instead of using cross bars use them as risers on end
All you need now are 4” PVC bunks 8’-10’ long on 10” centers . It takes a lot of piddling around to get it right.
Probably gonna go with 3” exhaust tubing

Made mods and I don’t forget net anymore #experiance
Great idea 👍..I have that same trailer and want to add a winch like that..which one is it?
It was the lightest weight capacity they had at harbor freight
Awesome..did it come with that winch mount?..I’ve been trying to find a mount for it online but seems impossible
What did you do to mount the winch to the hitch like that?
Receiver hitch turned upside down and welded

Lil hard on net n rods .PVC runners with a turndown at end of trailer make life easier….nice trailer just fine tuning.
Hopefully I won’t forget twice
I used 3 in exhaust pipe for runners I’ll be posting an update vid this spring
Your winch might be a bit too low as well and +1 on pvc vs wooden bunks
Lots of new upgrades now
Do you need license plates on these type of trailers?
Not in my state
@@claysaroundtown lucky you, heard it’s a hassle in Ca!
harbor fright and buy an eletric winch. but good idea.

Dude, just land the kayak and drag it up to the car just at the water line.
Nothing in this loading precedure made any sense.
