It amazes me that Royal Enfield have managed to keep improving the quality of their bikes whilst still keeping the prices down.
They are on great form at the moment 👍 I have really enjoyed the last 2 test rides I have done, this and the Honda Hornet. Both at great prices! Just shows a great bike can be made at a good price
More amazing that the big manufacturers can't cut their prices or make a similar (less) equipped bike for the same price point. If the big 4 don't react to RE attack on their western customers they will be regretting hard. Especially in Europe where the roads are smaller the 350 J-series will be very attractive when they are so affordable. And with the 650s you can stay brand loyal for life.
@@Heivang Yes, fingers crossed RE set a trend and other manufacturers are forced to lower prices to keep up the sales 😁
@@redangrevival definitely! Harley Davidson take note...
@@michaelmurdock4607hear hear buddy. Back to what basics we need. Immoral govt importing 180bhp bikes and 70 mph speed limit. Emissions on triumph rockets?.
I tried the original Meteor and loved it, but thought it needed the 650. After 10 minutes on this version I had decided to put my money down, after an hour she’d stolen my heart. Mine comes very soon, I suspect the other toys will be underworked this year.
👍 I have actually never ridden the 350 Meteor, and to be honest was not that interested in it. However this 650 peaked my interest and can say it is a really cool bike. I am not surprised you fell in love with it 😁 Such a loveable bike. Congrats on your purchase
@@redangrevival I do also have the Classic 350. The bike is a superb country lane carver, but I did take it to Scotland for the NC500 and it was brilliant. But, I’m 6’ and 14 stone. Loaded for a trip she’s no motorway bike, and in the UK to get to the best rides motorways and Major A roads are often essential use. Check out Rest Day Rider’s channel. She rode a heavily loaded Meteor 350 to Aberdeen from Swindon last year avoiding motorways all the way. My NC500 trip took 4 days longer than usual because of avoiding motorways as far as possible. The Meteor 350 is fantastic, you just have to accept its limitations. Now the Speedmaster you normally ride is the only bike I regret selling!
@@johnhill8529 Absolutely I love the Classic 350, such a beautiful bike. Wow that is one cool trip you did, Kudos to you 💪 Sounds great fun!
I would really struggle getting rid of my Speedmaster, Cheers
I had the 350! In terms of comfort and handling - I thought that it was the perfect bike (just needed more power on hills and motorways). Just picked up my Supermeteor brother, and it is gorgeous! So much fine to ride on motorways and twisties. A lot more torque than I imagined! I have a 2022 Rocket, a 2023 Honda CMX Rebel 1100T, and yet this is my all-around favourite! You are in for a treat!
This bike is what Harley Davidson was back in the day. Before they turn into a luxury brand and jacked up the price.
So nice that RE are giving us the option of a cheaper and good bike 👍
Most certainly is! Actually it's the sportster that Harley Davidson should have built with the price tag!
I was watching another video on this motorcycle when I noticed your review in the sidebar - this viewer finds RedAng to be just as informative and much more light-hearted. Thumbs up!
Hi, thanks so much I really appreciate that 👍 Welcome to the channel
Nice review, I rode that very bike 2 weeks ago, loved the handling, great bike.
Thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Nice you beat me to it!! 😉
Another great video you were a big influence on me getting a speedmaster for my first bike great work mate👍
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that 👍 Thats great to hear and I hope you are enjoying your Speedmaster.
Thanks for another great review- would never have considered a cruiser style bike previously but you’ve made a great case to think about this one for sure…..
It is my pleasure and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Cruisers may not be the best performing bikes, but they are great fun! This new Meteor 650 handles surprisingly well
@@redangrevival performance on track no but a cruiser for duties on normal roads and traffic scenarios yes! Bit of comfort enjoy the bike along the journey and scenery. Might not get to your destination quick but no speed fines and arrive to destination a lot more relaxed and a massive grin on your face!
Enjoyed the review, up to the usual high standard, thanks.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Interesting and informative review. Thank you for sharing.
It is my pleasure 👍 Thanks and glad you enjoyed the review
Great review, just picked 1 up myself, absolutely love it so far. Highly recommended
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Congratulations on your new bike, they are great fun and at an even better price!
Nice 👍
Well done RedAng, this is the first review that has made me like the bike. Phrases like "fun and nimble ", " planted and secure" and "cruises at 70", with a low seat height has made me think should at least try it. I'm not at this level for a few more years and I don't know if I could love it but you have made me at least want to try it 😊
👍 Thank you Lily that is a great compliment! So glad to hear that. Yes a great bike for smaller and perhaps less experienced riders. It looks better in person I think, definitely can hold its own against some much bigger and more expensive tourers 😁
Nice one definitely give it a go! And if you like it at least it's not ridiculous amounts of money!
clearly this is the first review you have watched then.....i have seen 4 already before this and they are all better then this one.
@@christopher480 clearly you know nothing about me but thanks for your negative, judgemental opinion. Glad you got that spite off your heart.

It looks beautiful also a more practical cruiser for the roads in the UK especially in the south and south east of England where its always busy. Those Harley's and Indian Cruisers really need open, long straight roads not great for filtering on the M25. Nice review as always.
HD is called the cooker in India.
@@aruncv1373 why??
@@TGnM it's engine gets too hot to ride.. Harley's air cooled engines r not built for the hot tropical climatic countries, where they don't often get long stretch of open road to cool down the engine.
Absolutely, well said it is a very practical cruiser and great for UK roads 👍 Iyt is nice that it doesn't feel too small though. Thanks glad you enjoyed the review

Love your review. Can’t wait for the Super Meteor to arrive in my country.
Thanks really glad you enjoyed the review 👍 It is a great smaller sized cruiser
Thanks for the review, full information about a nice bike
It is my pleasure, and thank you. Really glad you enjoyed the review 👍
Nice review as always ,nice looking bike ✌
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the review 👍
Great bike for a person that wants to tip a toe into cruiser waters without breaking the bank. I would try to get spoked wheels for it, I’m not a fan of cast wheels on cruisers but they are easier to clean.
Excellent review, as always. Keep ‘em coming!
Cheers,

Absolutely, a brilliant bike to sample some cruising 👍 And yes so good to have a good cruiser that is affordable! It is an expensive market place.
Casts would look much better I agree.
Cheers
Customize and order according to your liking in the royal Enfield website.
I like the celestial green and black. I would put the touring seat and pillion in the brown color on with the bar end mirrors that Royal Enfield makes. Think it would make it look very classic British. Also hoping they will have the small fly screen available for it. Very cool bike.
👍 lovely spec! Very classic British. Love the accessories and paint schemes RE do.
Very well done. I like your speed master vids but this bike is good looking too. I was thinking of test riding one for an option other than the Triumph bobber, but it isn’t available in Japan yet…and the local RE shops don’t know when it will be. The EU/UK market was the second market after India for release they say and next is the US this summer sometime. To bad as it could have been a contender as my new bike.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes this really is a good looking bike and at a great price as well. Have to be honest I wouldn't have it over a Speedmaster or Bobber though!
However if taking cost into consideration then this is a great option.
Tried one last week. Like you said feels like a substantial bike - I remember the Classic and meteor 350 feeling a bit flimsy - fine if you’re nipping around town max 50mph but not what you want for longer highway rides. Definitely comparable to my Bonneville. Would love to see a 650 classic
A great move putting the 650 engine in it 👍
Here in Canada we have a Kawasaki cruiser, the Vulcan S, which is based on the Versys 650 and so has a higher revving engine with 68 bhp. It has proven quite popular as an entry level bike, so I'm sure the Super Meteor would be too. I recently sold my Voyager 1700 whish weighed just under 900lbs and am enjoying the much sportier Versys 650 even though it is not as comfortable for longer rides.
Yes we get the Vulcan in the UK as well 👍 Must say I am not the biggest fan of its looks! I think this Super Meteor will do very well
sell that relic
Nice review
Many thanks I appreciate it 👍
Imagine if RE later releases an 865 big bore iteration with 70hp. It will be a hell of a bike
That would be awesome fun!
I pick up my Astral Black on Aug 1st. Looking forward to it. Haven’t ridden in quite a while (apart from an Interceptor I rented in Lanzarote last year which was tons of fun) so, this vid was VERY reassuring. My ‘driving position’ is pretty much horizontal so, I expect the Super Meteor to be comfy enough to cope with 🤔🤞
👍 Congratulations, if you enjoyed the Interceptor I think you will love this bike. RE have put a lot into it and it shows. Haha nice relaxed riding position!
After 5 Harleys, one Victory and one Kawasaki all of which were cruisers over 700lbs I can say that they are nice for long distance highway cruising but not so much fun in city traffic. I'm glad you compared the RE to your Triumph because that would have been my question. The RE looks less substantial, for lack of a better word, than the Triumphs do. I can't quite put a finger on it and I guess I'll have to wait till my dealer gets one in before I make any judgements. Enjoyed your review as always.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes this new Meteor 650 is sort of like a miniature practical cruiser! Big enough to not lack power etc.. and look good, however small enough to be practical. I would recommend sitting on one before making a decision.
Cheers
After moving from the UK I now live in the US and own a RE 350 REborn. And yes, American still love their HDs, by and large. Most of the bikers I meet don't know the Royal Enfield brand. The RE attracts interest though, when they see it. I might be the only RE owner in the state of New Hampshire, maybe LOL. Like everywhere else, these days, speed restrictions apply. I don't find the power and speed limitation to be that much a detraction. Added bonus: thanks to the simplicity of the bike, I can do a LOT of my own wrenching (with help from UA-camrs). When there's a 5 hour round trip to the nearest garage, that's a big bonus, here. Thanks for this review, Angus.
Hi, there is something so special and charming about the RE range. Just shows power is not always the answer!
Also as you say most places have speed restrictions so all that power cannot always be used. It is my pleasure and really glad you enjoyed the video. All the best
Looks as a brilliant bike for affordable price 🤌 looking forward to see your review on the cb500x 2022-23 and also some new chinese as the Voge 500ac or SFmoto ✌️😎. Your the best 👍
Yup really cool looking for this price range 👍 I must get a ride on the CB500X, sounds like a great all rounder
I have just got one an love it great fun to ride
Love your reviews! For some reason I'm not getting great video even at 1080. You are getting compressed over here in northeast US.
Thanks so much I appreciate it and glad you enjoy the reviews 👍 That's a shame, I will look into that.
Cheers
Good reveiw and a good advertisement for the New forest.
Thanks so much I appreciate it 👍 Just love the New Forest, it is so beautiful and the wildlife is great 😁 Cheers
It looks good, if you like this sort of thing. I like cruiser engines in other chassis [I have an MT-01 and SCR950], and herein lies my problem with this bike. It has a cruiser chassis/foot-peg position, but doesn't have a cruiser engine.
I agree: the RE looks better than the Rebel 500 or Kawasaki Vulcan 650. Top spot for entry-level cruiser bike. I agree.
I agree, I think it is a great looking bike and a really good entry to cruising 👍 Yes it is hard to make a smaller capacity parallel twin feel like a classic cruiser engine! However I suppose it does keep costs down and is very fuel efficient as well. The 270 degree crank does add some character but it is not ooozing with it.
Enfields are not the Enfields of the past in terms of build and design quality.
The one important thing they have managed to keep is soul and character.
Which is something very few other makes even come close to these days.
I got rid of a Kawasaki 900 to go over to an Enfield .
Way more fun.
👌 they are great fun bikes
Nice Bike, great review.
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes RE have done a great job, its a really fun cruiser
I'll be honest, your comment regarding its noise wasn't a mark against it for me. I don't want obnoxious loud. What I can hear because I'm on the bike and what I can feel is totally different than what those who are in the environment I'm passing should be subjected to. I'll be honest, I'd probably buy one.
👍 That is a good point and one worth noting! Lots of people don't always want loud exhausts. If that is the case you will like this bike. Its a nice noise but really not an anti social volume.
👍 yep! Also change the pipe if someone wants a bit more of a rumble.
That Donkey on the streets serves as the perfect metaphor as the Bike is originally driven in the Indian roads which have cows, horses, etc. taking a walk with the traffic and we Indians usually don't like to disturb them so we brake to avoid any mishaps...you did the same thing
👍 A great point! What a relevant thing to happen. Just shows the Super Meteor can handle stray wildlife as well 💪
I love it personally! Brill review. That colour you rode is my favourite.
It is a cool bike and definitely an upgrade to the Meteor 350, much more substantial 👍
Oooh ya got the Meteor Red well done !! Wow so it weights near as much as my old XJR12 with a 650 lump hmmm two clocks would be nice and twin disc front .I am thinking you won't be trading speedy in for one anytime soon .Having said what I have said it does look nice usual fab colour schemes of Royal Enfield . So is it too small for the weight I wonder? also needs a sissy bar to finish off the back end for me too Nice one good watch 👍
👍 Glad to have got such an early ride on one! Haha no I won't be trading in Speedy for one. Two analogue clocks would have been very nice, a sissy bar can easily be added and RE have some great accessories. It feels good on the road, lacking some character of the bigger cruisers perhaps but overall a good ride. The handling was the stand out point for me. Cheers
Nicely styled not keen on the colour code on this one.. blue sounds interesting
You're a natural on video

Yea I think it looks really cool. Same I prefer the more subtle and classic colour combos 👍

As always, I enjoyed your review. Beautiful bike. But I'm still leaning towards the Honda 750 Hornet with it's 92 hp. But have to admit the Hornet doesn't look as good.
Thanks, really glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes two very different bikes! Must say the Hornet is a MUCH better performing bike. But yes can't beat the looks of the Meteor for sure
Where are you going to use 92hp?
ok honest question - since you drove both bikes I'm looking at: (bonneville speedmaster and this super meteor 650). The RE costs €8000 fully kitted out whilst the bonnie is €18000.
Which one would you pick and why? My head says get the RE, but my heart still wants the triumph. I can give the RE a test drive as it's available locally from stock, but the triumph dealer only gets speedmasters on order, so there isn't one I can try, I'd completely be buying it sight unseen. I'll be using it for fun rides and there are no highways where I live, just twisty roads everywhere. Is the speedmaster 10K better? or do I go with the RE and just pocket the difference?
It really depends on your financial situation! The Speedmaster is noticeably bigger, better quality, better looking and faster. However if you are just on country lanes for fun then the RE will be great 👍 I recommend trying a Bobber as it is very similar to the Speedmaster
Nice review buddy. I looked at this at the show and RE stand was excellent and crowded. BSA stand empty. Don’t like the speedo. Like the twin clocks must be my age
Thanks 👍 Yup its a great looking bike. RE are on fire atm! I agree nice twin analogue dials would be lovely 😀
I would consider this bike if I had none. But to cruise I go on prefering the visceral shaking of my 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva 750. By the way; I decided not to buy a used Speedmaster, after thinking about the easyness of scraping the pegs on the ground and the awkward chain lubing, although it suits me like a glove.
👍 I love this bike and always will I think! Yes very hard to beat the character from that Guzzi 😎 Fair enough on the Speedmaster, it does scrape a bit haha
How is it for a taller person to ride? I'm 6'2" not sure about the comfortably for a taller rider! But i really like the style of the bike. And an awesome review. Thank you very much!
Thanks so much I really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 To be honest, I think at 6'2" you may start to find it a little cramped! Recommend a sit on one though. Cheers
Nope! Try looking at the channel Mr Darcy and the old man, a father and son review team, both of them are over 6"2 and the son had no issues with the super meteor 👍🏻

@@kevindarkstar You might well need it.
That is a good looking bike, would not buy the 350, but this is fast enough.

Can't wait more for the ASTRAL BLACK SM650 I booked in Jan 2023 - delivery by June 2023 so they say
👍 congratulations and hope you get delivery ASAP! Its a great bike
RE will provide a taller, touring handlebar as accessories in the near future. That will make it feel like a real cruiser and more comfortable than expected.
I would definitely opt for the taller handle bars 👍
I thought the red bike only came with the screen and other seat and backrest, I like the red but not that expanse of white on top of the tank, why couldn't they style it like the blue celestion.
That isn't a stressed member frame. It is a three piece bolt together frame like the meteor and all other modern R.E. bikes. They dropped the stressed member frame when they discontinued the 500 Bullet /classic.
Great review, I had a good look around the Supermeteor at my local dealer recently . My overall impressions
were first the size, it is as you say a very' substantial looking bike it certainly dwarfs the other models in the
Royal Enfield range and as with other cruisers it is a case of size for size's sake serving no practical purpose,
but physically it's without doubt a lot of bike for the money.
I hate to be negative but me and my partner both thought the bike seemed to lack cohesion with elements of its
design having the look of 'Add-on' trinkets in a slightly crude attempt to impress rather than a cohesive overall design,
"A bit Chintzy" as my partner so eloquently put it !😊
Many thanks, I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes first thing I thought is it is more of a substantial bike that other Royal Enfields!
Haha I k now what you mean in the looks department. I think at this price they would struggle to make it look top quality, however I think it looks great for this price range. Spoked wheels would have been nice. I suppose RE theme is a bit more fun styling, rather than cohesive!
Can't beat burbling around the New Forest. Have you spent much time out there on the Speedmaster Angus?
It is great fun, such beautiful open land and then great on the coast as well 😁 Can't beat the wild life either! Yup Iv done a couple trips their!

I would say Speedmaster has more leg room for sure
Thanks Red Ang just watched your video on the super Meteor 650 im torn between the Bonneville T100 or the 650 Meteor ?my heart says the Bonny but my wallet says the super meteor any advice please
It is my pleasure 👍 It really just comes down to how much you want to spend. The difference in quality is very noticeable, the Triumph being high quality and a better ride. However the RE is good, and great value for money. Hope that helps somewhat.
Ive just forked out on a new speedmaster, but beginning to wish id gone for a RE
Each to their own, but I think the Speedmaster is a far superior bike 👍 Enjoy it
@redangrevival You're correct. I tried the RE at the ABR festival yesterday, and whilst it's excellent value, I could see straight away the difference in Quality to the Triumph. The steel and alloys used on the RE is noticeably inferior, at least in finish. Time will tell on both bikes of course. I now know I've made the right choice, so thank you!
The Benelli 502c is also a competitor to the Rebel and Super Meteor.
I would like to test ride one 👍
love it, 75 mph rpm??
Have to be honest, u am not too sure!
What’s it like to move, I will need to push backwards into my shed, is it very heavy to manouver?
It is not really light, however for a cruiser it is easy to manouver and being so low to the ground as well I think you should be ok 👍
My lowrider s is a lot heavier than the super meteor and it's a doddle to move due to its central weight distribution! Super meteor will be very easy to move in and out of your shed due to how the weight is disrupted.
one of my favorite motorcycle commercials, from honda, AND i NEVER HEARD A WORD SHE SAID
Nice review, but I have to say it gets annoying to always hear motorcycle reviewers complain, that the bikes they are testing are too quiet. You are certainly not the worst example of this, but please don't! For the image of motorcycling, more noise is not what we need.
Speak for yourself. Sound is absolutely important to me, more than outright power.
I must agree with you on this point!
Thanks glad you enjoyed the review 👍 I hear what you are saying. I just suppose the sound is such a bike part of riding for me. I don't want an anti social sounding bike, just one that I enjoy the noise when riding along. Especially on a cruiser
@@redangrevival change the pipes if you want more rumble!
@@redangrevival Sound is fine, I like a nice sounding engine too. But it's a fine balance between sound and noise. Noise is other people's experience, when your sound is too loud, and noone likes other people's noise. So I don't think there's any reason to promote louder pipes.
It really looks great but as they built in India i'm wondering on the quality of the frame and long term durability of it's parts.
I live close to the sea and should I go ahead in purchasing this bike don't want the frame to show signs of rust a year after.
Anyone had such issues with another model from Royal Enfield?
Indians riding comfortably on badder roads and more challenging conditions. No doubts on its durability and quality since that’s all the brand is about in India.

Just a few seconds in you see a close up of the tank. Is the white on the tank a sticker with clearcoat on top? It looks like there is a pronounced ridge that makes it look cheap. Must check out one of these in person though.
I know what you mean. To be honest I did notice it a first! I can't confirm it, but you might be right actually
@@redangrevival I've watched almost all content I can find on the Super Meteor and never noticed that before (your camera work is too clear :) ). I've never heard anyone mention it though I have heard almost everyone comment on the quality of the bike.
@@MentatOfDune It is a good point, and you have me intrigued now! haha cheers, just my superior camera work I guess 😉
Thing is my back can no longer handle a full on heavy cruiser so this could be a great alternative for me
👍 Absolutely, a great alternative to a massive heavy cruiser
I know there is a big price difference but how does it compare to your Speedmaster?
To be honest I would take my Speedmaster every day over this bike! However the one thing that is better than the Speedmaster is the handling, much lighter on its feet and connected to the road. The Speedmaster is a much more substantial feeling bike
For some reason, RE seems reluctant to release this bike in the US. Do any of you UK viewers know why that might be?
Do we still have those ridiculous heavy cruiser import duties that were put in place to protect Harley ages ago?
Sheesh I hope that isn't it.
Its OK as long as you are not in a hurry. Not sure about the single disk on the front, there is a lot of weight there,
Yup its not a fast bike thats for sure! I think the single is ok
Ever heard of engine braking? Double disc brembro this and that YES on a track for domestic street riding not necessarily!
I think, one should concentrate on an ownership review, the running cost and maintenance unlike those obnoxious expensive harleys, here in India most of the harleys are parked in garage eating dust because maintenance is sky high. And have just become a status symbol, stalled and hailed well parked well maintained because of the affordability, This should give liberty and freedom from all that, be on the road and ride often get more riders attitude while the prices are checked for a seamless ownership experience...Thanks for this video.
It is my pleasure and hope you liked the video 👍 Yes the initial costs and owner ship costs are a huge bonus of Royal Enfield bikes. I can imagine in India Harley's are not the most practical bikes around!
I think a 650 hunter would be my jam
🤙 That would be a cool bike
How big does a motorcycle really need to be? I have been riding for years and I don't need anything bigger than 650 - 750ish.
Just down to personal preference.
46.4 hp and 52.3 Nm of torque for a shorter stroked larger bore 650cc twin means that it is in a fairly low state of tune and not stressed,... Which should give a stable smooth engine for a low while...
I think BHP UK took a stock interceptor 650 and just did a remap.. THey gained more than 9% extra horses on the back wheel on the dyno.. which should at least equate to around 52 hp on the crank... So without any mods you can get a little more power out of the engine..
Yes think you are right there, the engine should be quite reliable and under stressed. It feels like it could be loosened up somewhat!
RE are doing great. I bought one. How long before they fall into the same trap as the other major bike manufacturers ....
I don't think they will. their main market is in India and to continue selling there they are bound to keep their price low
Yup a nice improvement and step forward for RE 👍 I really hope they don't, as I think a big part of their success is having affordable bikes!
Still waiting for it in US
A pity you didn't take it out on the motorway. Otherwise best review on the bike.
Yes I would have liked the chance, but not many around where I was! Thanks glad you enjoyed the review
Now if they can just come out with a big bore. Like a 1200cc with a tachometer it would be perfect
That would be great, but I don’t think RE will go bigger than 650cc
That price it is going to be hard to find one in stock
👍 yup they will sell very I think!
It looks like a road in Northumberland
👌 I must get up to Northumberland then!
RE is a dream motorcycles for Indians
Late model Harley Street Bob - (Dyna) weighs 291 kg, 2023 Street Bob (Softail) weighs 297kg - the 2023 Super Meteor 650 weighs 241 kg. 1680cc Harley V-twin engine in the Dyna version, 2023 Softail version 1868cc V-twin engine.
The Super Meteor 650 is a great bike for the price, but not all Harleys weigh 400 kg! 2023 Fat Bob (arguably the best handling Harley) weighs in at 306 KG and you can cruise forever on that baby... it has presence, something the Meteor sort of lacks in comparison. That said, the Super Meteor is a good bike for the price. I never understand people who dis marques or misinform because they ride something else - for a lot of us - All motorcycles are good fun!
My intention was certainly not to "dis" Harley Davidson! I was merely pointing out that they can be heavier bikes in general. Money no object I would have a Harley over the RE everyday. Just making a point that the Super Meteor is lighter than traditional large cruisers. Which is a nice change.
The only thing I am trading mine for are those horses.
Haha fair enough!
How tall are you?
5 Foot 9 Inches
Basically an option for short people or who like the cruiser style otherwise the interceptor is vastly superior
For me this is a exit bike. I have done it all and at 63 this bike allows my lower skill level to drive safely. I need well delivered with no scare power that can overwhelm my age and reflexes, so this ticks the box.
It is for sure a friendly bike that will take care of you on the road 👌
'basically meaning stiffer frame, slightly lighter....'
Except the Interceptor weighs 217 kg and the Super Meteor is heavier at 241 kg.
I more meant in general a bike that uses the engine as a stress member of the frame is usually lighter. Not meaning it was lighter than the Interceptor
turn the speed in settings to x1.25 then it becomes normal speed.
haha 👍
Hi Angus
I had a Vulcan last year and it handled amazingly. Put a better engine in it and it would seriously compete.
Regards
Den
Vulcan 650? It does have a better engine than this, even if the 180 degree crank doesnt sound as characterful.
The Vulcan doesn't look good as the Super Meteor 650, to be honest. This bike has more character and a head turner than a Vulcan.
Trust me my man, the engine is already great and much better tuned to the specifics of this bike...so it already competes if not scores better than the Vulcan. Go ahead and try it out without thinking too much
@@anootoshsarkar686 the Vulcan engine has a much better throughput but the Super Meteor is a much better looking bike.
@@Bangaliyana2024 If by throughput, you only mean more Torque and sheer HP then yeah may be. An average long-haul tour/Cruise though is not a race to win and requires a rather smooth, well-powered but also well-balanced engine that does not necessarily has to produce a killer BHP and thumps giving the rider a nightmare in handling the bike instead of being able to Enjoy the Ride 🙏
I don't understand this model .
The seat is from astral version of the RE super meteor with a celestial version body ?.
I'm from india , here we don't have this kind of seat in celestial version . ( It's much more comfy) .
That is interesting! I thought this seat was standard with this model 🤔
No.
The top model ( celestial) had a really good touring seat in India.
Maybe a slight change or a different model ig.
@@surajp5725 Yup, am sure it is available from the accessories options 👍
Thought so. The Celestial Red should come with the touring seat, the pillion backrest and the windshield. That's why it is more expensive. No Idea what that dealership has done here.
A friend of mine has just picked up his Celestial in the same colours in the uk. It should have a touring screen, seat and backrest as standard. Apparently the bikes are shipped as in your review and the accessories are shipped separately on a container for the dealerships to fit. Some customers have been given the option to collect and then take the bike back when the accessories arrive as my friend has done. I also notice no heel shift on some uk models?. Great review by the way
Don't know if it's just how you are saying it, but it's a tripper not how it sounded tripier
Yup bad pronunciation on my part!
@@redangrevival fair enough 👍🏻
i like that nice and cheerful colour ;;
👍 RE do some great/fun colour specs
Touring bikes, sports bikes, adventure bikes, dirt bikes, commuter bikes, scramblers, cruisers, bobbers, cafe racers, Italian bikes you park in front of the sidewalk bistro while you sneer at the passers bye... maybe it's time for (God help us) a new class of bikes, the "sport cruiser"; because that seems to be what you've been describing. It seems like a beautiful bike, from the videos. It would be interesting to see it parked alongside a Harley FX, or a Sportster, as it wants perspective; most of the videographers seem to be of an average (5' 7") height as well. Totally unimpressed by the sound, when the whine of the gearbox is louder than the exhaust on a bike that purports to be a cruiser, there's something wrong.
haha yes perhaps this is a new breed in the making! It certainly does feel like a smaller version of a big cruiser.
An aftermarket exhaust would sort it out!
Harley 883 replacement. Similar weight and power with better suspension.
A great alternative 👌
@@redangrevival This bike is by any criteria an inferior bike to the old 1975 Yamaha XS650 - out of production for 37-years LOL
And the old Yamahammer could eat this anachronism's breakfast, and last twice as long.
So what's the big deal about his bike? I don't get it.
@@DennisMerwood-xk8wp It looks nice for a good price! Thats basically it
One Indian UA-cam blogger uploaded a video where he drives on local road and shows its mileage 15 km / liter , its not that great. I know its cruiser meant for highways, but RE has work more on this. 😏
Great looking bike, shame about the short service intervals, no idea why it is even shorter than the Interceptor, that and the weight.
That is strange, I don't know either to be honest! Perhaps they will extend the intervals over time. However it is the same engine as in the Interceptor, so should be well tried and tested
@@redangrevival I tried contacting RE they initially asked for a few details, then just ignored me, so I gave up. Just for fun I asked Honda UK the same question for one of their bikes, they replied with the answer in less the 30mins, it really is not a difficult question to answer.
I should explain this was before the SM was on the UK version of their site, so downloading the user manual was not available, I have since downloaded it to confirm the 4660mile intervals.
@@shardlake Yes Honda are great and with their history of reliability, I suppose are more forth coming and confident about being truthful!
For you guys in Europe its affordable and cheap, for us in India, where the bikes are produced, the super meteor is still a luxury bike which 60% of the population can't afford to buy. 🤷🤷
Yes that is a shame!
Can you explain why you are calling it “entry level”?
Yes, because of the price/engine capacity/weight/power output etc... All less than half of a traditional cruiser bike. Thus making it more accessible to buy/easier to ride/ easier to live with etc...
@@michaelmurdock4607 nope it's a motorcyclist motorcycle!
The bsa is a better and less clumber some styling job imo.
Fair enough looks are very subjective. Think I would go for the Super Meteor over the BSA, for the power mainly
The Indian dealer here is gonna start selling them
👍 That is great news, nice to hear RE are being picked up by more dealers
