  • Due to the KTM superduke 1290 R 2020 having MTC failures and becoming a very common problem We are being forced to fit a Healtech servo eliminator plug.
    The most common reason for the MTC failure to pop up on the dash is the servo cables on the butterfly valve being out of tolerance. KTM deny this as a fault and so we are forced to find a fix. I have done a video to show how to remove the servo motor unit and cables and fit the plug.
    It is not the best video but it should help.
    After speaking to 2 KTM dealers it is stated that just doing this mod will not void the warranty unless a fault with you bike occurs and is caused by this mod.
    Thing is my personal experience states a butterfly valve can not cause any problems. only the healtech plug could become faulty and the FI light would pop up....

    2017 GT stock no mods. Got the MTC failure. Watched 100 videos read forums, looked all over the bike for something wrong. bought a new battery, old battery started bike but was a coming up on two years and I saw people claiming low amp/volts could throw the code. Finally bought the adapter cable and an automotive scanner for $140 which I'm going to take back. It gave me the code but doesn't really see much on the KTM since it's made for cars. It did give me the exhaust valve code. After watching your video on dealer setting cables within a parameter I started messing with the cables. Tightening and loosening a tiny bit at a time and turning key on. I got the code off, engine light off, rode bike , came home and tightened the lock nuts on cables thinking I got it. After tightened lock nuts the code came back. Kept messing again with cables because that was obviously where the problem was. Code kept coming when I turned key on and couldn't seem to find the sweet spot on cable tension. Loosened the lock nut closest to actuator until cable was sloppy loose. Code went off and so far has stayed off with tensioner loose enough to wiggle it. This (might) be an emergency roadside emergency fix so ya don't have to ride under 5500 RPM!!!
    Have had 20 plus bikes of several makes, roadraced 20 years and have done extensive work and mods on many bikes. Even put a GSXR1000 swingarm on a 96 Harley Heritage. Only had to deal with servo on a few GSXRs changing full pipe, but never had a problem with servo on stock bike. I can see how people make several trips to dealer, spend money and time, leave dealer and code comes back. I'm ordering the ES today and scrapping the servo. Considering I have a cable real loose and code is off, it appears any undue resistance from cables to servo, throws the code. And is why it happens at any time on bikes from my 17 to present. Whether 300 miles, or the 22K miles on mine. I'm 62 and never had a bike I didn't put a pipe on, re jet carbs / add power commander. If I changed pipe on KTM it would be a given to do the ES. But since I don't bother anymore to spend money on that stuff, you would think, leaving it stock, there wouldn't be a need for ES. If I knew this would be an issue I would have thrown the servo in trash when I bought the bike. Seems this has been a frustrating issue for many people. Wanted to share, hope it helps. Fortunately my servo is in plain sight easy to get to.

    Did this today for my -21 model. Bike was in limb mode and mtc error was there. Reason was too tight cable on the exhaust valve. Installed ese immediately after got the bike back from dealer and works nicely.

      The same thing is happening to my 23 model evo. I'm taking my bike to dealer tomorrow to diagnose it. We will see what they say.
      Anyway, I ordered ESE as well.

    Ordering this right now hope it fixes my 2020 that has been to shop 8 times now for mtc failure only killed bike the 1st few times now I just lose the option for cruise control, quickshift, wheelie control, slip control, and can't change ride modes. Turns into just a raw bike with no new age comforts. Has made me learn that wheelies on this bike are amazing that I only used to do on my enduro until now. Sorry for my rambling but I do have 1 question was yours in mtc failure at the time that u did this delete and if so did it clear next start up? Thanks and for me to have 8 or more shop visits not too bad considering a few times they just cleared it never fixed anything. And I ride about 12000 miles a year. But the 3.0 are absolutely amazing bikes

    I did not have any issues with my 1290 Gen 3 MY 2022 after one year and around 12000 km until now. But when I heard about the problem about MTC failures I bought the Healtech Dongle just to have it with me in case I will get the problem on a trip. But now I am thinking to get rid of the Servo and install it before I get into the same problem. What du you guys think?

    Hi,
    I have a superduke GT and i have a question : what is the benefit to "remove" (shunt, stay open) the exhaust valve ?
    More power ? more smoothness on low rpm ?
    And after theorical benefit, what do you feel really on bike ?

    • @wr426lover
      @wr426lover  3 роки тому +1

      Exactly. What any manufacture states is they have to prove removing the flapper valve was the cause of a failure just like removing an end can caused a failure. There is physically not chance if that happening. So yea its safe.

    Guys if u do that u have to remap ecu, otherwise you run hazard to have a lean mixture. This will destroy your engines! Not for nothing Akrapovic does a remap if u install the exhaust system. Same thing for the SAS!

    • @wr426lover
      @wr426lover  3 роки тому +1

      This is incorrect 😅 the flapper valve is for noise reduction and back pressure. Removing this at the see time as the end can will allow your bike to run better. The flapper valve or EXUP valve removed in theory will give you a very slight increase in bhp.
      NOTE, you will not destroy your engine 🤣 if for some reason that was the case do you really think Healtech would sell these with no warning in description stating this? 😉

    • @arcuz7862
      @arcuz7862 3 роки тому +1

      @@wr426lover Yeah, that's a ton of half-knowledge from both of you. It's not gonna make your engine run lean but it sure as hell won't give you power increase either, quite the opposite. You actually lose torque in the lower revs. But this has absolutely nothing to do with back pressure.
      How much 'back pressure' you think this valve will create sitting behind 2 meters of piping, 2 catalytic converters, a middle silencer and all the way at the end of the exhaust system? ZERO.

    • @wr426lover
      @wr426lover  3 роки тому +2

      Because it is a common fault that they won't fix. They have such a very small setting in the parameters which even when a dealer sets it, it very quickly loses its setting. Its a very common fault that more than 50% of gen3 owners get. Most of us rather remove the servo system than at 70mph in a sharp corner to get the MTC failure to then throw us off.

    • @hellomihai
