I think my used Honda Accord I bought in 1982 came with rain guards. I hated them for a couple of reasons: 1) I started smoking a year later and they got in my way of flicking/littering the cigarettes out the window. 2) when I was going faster than 45mph the air would cause a vibration between the guards and the window. I quit smoking 20 years ago, but the vibrations are still in my memory and wouldn’t want to experience that again. Now you may not experience the vibrations since you’ll probably have the front and back windows cracked. My windows were manual and I only had the one by the driver open at any given time. I got rid of the Accord in 1987 when I bought a new Plymouth Colt and moved to Las Vegas.
Dang! Now I'll have to start smoking so I can test it. 🤣🤣 I'm still behind with video editing - I put these on the van before our June trip to Texas. We did a total of about 4400 miles at speeds up to 80 mph. The guards were 100% stable with no vibrations or noise. It was just a bit lower than a bazillion degrees the whole time, so I only had any window down for very short periods of time, for photos/video. Still no issues. I almost never have any window down when moving in any vehicle, I'm just wanting these for overnight venting and airflow.
@SchoolReportsOnTheGo Sounds like the problem I had may have been car specific, glad they worked for you😁! While they’ll work great for airflow overnights and keeping rain out, they won’t keep mosquitos at bay. Perhaps a netting on the inside might come in handy in regards to that..? In the early 2000’s I was a bill collector and repossessed a Pontiac Aztek that I ended up buying from the lender. While all the camping gear had been removed by the original borrower, I found that it was more comfortable than any vehicle I’ve owned for sleeping in. I had removed the rear seats much like you’re doing here, though nowhere near as complex or intricate. It served me well on a trip from MN to GA and back before it began to have electrical problems and I sold it 6 years later.
