Definitely going to use this perk when I go see Drake at crypto arena 🔥🥂🦉 Definitely getting the platinum card next year as I currently have the gold card 📈
You can track your spend by going to 'Statement and Activity' > on the left side under 'Card Activity' go to 'View by Year'> Click on '2023 to Date' > scroll all the way down. I'm pretty sure the annual fee is included in that total, so just deduct that from your spend amount.
Yeah you can definitely track it manually like that by looking at your statements and adding everything up! I just wish that Amex had an actually bar that tracked progress and made it easy to see on the account home page
BROOOOOO The editing keeps getting better and better - tell your editor he’s crushing it 😊 And as a gold card holder I learned a few things! Thanks Daniel! 🤙
Thanks so much Jackson! Yeah I'm a big fan of what my editor did here with this video. Glad to hear you learned something new with this card - thanks as always for watching man!
Thank you for explaining how to ad the card to your Uber wallet and also for mentioning that the $10 credit expires at the end of the month. other channels do not mention that. I appreciate it!
Just got approved for my Amex gold card ! Thanks to your videos I've been informed with so much information on how to use it and utilize all my benefits 😊
While this isn’t a new tip, but If you eat out with friends every now and then, I pay the whole bill and have them send me money accordingly. Recently we had AYCE Sushi and the bill came to about $390. At 4x points that’s 1,560 points! I do this with groceries with my siblings as well so you can really take advantage of the 4x multiplier. Making points hasn’t been easier and this card has been a blast to use!
That's exactly the trick that I always tell people to do to earn many more points! As long as you stay on top of getting people to Venmo you what they owe then you're able to collect so many free points!
Thanks Daniel, with your video I got 50 dollar off on blue case preferred, 100 dollar off on gold and 150 on platinum annual fees since I have a amex corporate card
Dude I'm so stoked to see that silver play button added to your set.100k here we come!!! 🔥 As for the Gold card, there are so many ways to earn extra value back from it, but as I'm sure you agree, it's so important to make sure that you'll get positive value from this card every year naturally BEFORE you apply for it. Great video as always Daniel!
Thinking about getting Amex gold… do I have to pay the 250 immediately when opening or do I get a full calendar year and then pay on the 1 year anniversary?
If your a traveler venture X gives way more value the 2 cards are totally different categories from my perspective and I have both Gold earns a ton of points but venture gives solid perks with a low fee. Venture x is more comparable to platinum Amex. Not as perk heavy but a much lighter price tag.
Fidelity has a 2 percent cashback visa that applies to everything, including costco, just FYI. Only caveat is that you have to redeem it into a Fidelity brokerage or cash management account. But that's free, and you can set it up to auto redeem each month.
Sometimes it takes me a while to subscribe to someone's channel. I really enjoy how clean and quick your videos are. Appreciate the information, thank you.
Awesome video man. I had a question about the welcome bonus offer (mine is 90k after spending 6k in first 6 months). Once you hit the spending threshold, how long does it realistically take for the bonus points to hit your account? I know Amex tells you 8-12 week, but I’ve seen many people online saying it’s usually just the next billing cycle. Or even a few days later.
Hi Daniel ! Just hoping you could answer a question for me . I recently got the chase sapphire preferred card . Looking to get my next card but not exactly sure which route to take. Mainly looking to maximize travel rewards as I'm wanting to travel more . Should I first complete the chase trifecta with the freedom unlimited and freedom flex . Or jump into a different card like Amex gold or Venture X . And if so what order should I go in . I'd also like to get the BILT for my $2000 rent payment .
Complete the trifecta. You’ll have more routes to build points faster. One example, you’ll be getting 1.5x points minimum with the trifecta completed, compared to just 1x. Don’t get an Amex if you don’t need to. It’s not about collecting cards, but getting the most return from them as a whole. But, if there’s something you’d like from Amex like better airport lounges or Resy Global Dining, I’d start building the Amex Gold+Plat duo (if you can afford it!) before completing the Chase trifecta, since you may not need the trifecta if you’re holding Gold+Plat.
Funny enough, there IS a way to see what you’ve spend except it comes with a caveat. You must have an additional member on your account and when you click to see what they’ve spent, you’ll also be able to see what YOU’VE spent in a pie graph.
I know this is off topic from the main video but I have a question Daniel! I’m thinking of having the Chase trifecta and Citi trifecta. Chase for travel, Citi for cash back. Is this a good setup? I’m not really comfortable with Amex yet considering the annual fees and such. You’re my go to channel when it comes to credit cards, you’ve inspired me to start my credit journey. Thank you for all you do 🙏
I think having cards from both setups can work pretty well! The best part is that with both Chase and Citi is that you can choose to switch between redeeming for cash back or travel whenever you want depending on what you want to do or what deals you see. But I'm gonna have a video out on the Citi trifecta very soon, I just filmed that. I'll compare all trifectas soon as well 👍 And thank you so much for watching my content! Great to hear that the videos have helped you on your own credit journey!
Love the content! I was about to apply for the Amex Blue Business Cash and I saw they had a welcome bonus of around $200 or $150 a month ago and now, there is no bonus. Do you know when they usually update their offers, should I wait or just apply rn. :/
I love the wallet choice. That’s awesome you got them to sponsor your giveaway! I feel like that was a genuinely smart move for Andar. I’ll be crossing my fingers I’m a winner 😆
Yeah I'm really happy they were able to send me some wallets to give away! Maybe one day I'll get my own wallet with them or some other company 👀 Hopefully you can get one, I'll figure out the details of the giveaway soon!
The Amex Gold card is definitely a card that I am seriously considering as my next card. I probably won’t apply for the Gold card until sometime in 2024 because I am getting 5% cash back on groceries with my CFU card until November. I’ve determined that spending $4,000 over the course of 6 months is attainable for me because I easily spend at least $667 per month across all my cards . My utilities, car insurance, and cell phone bills together come to pretty close the $667. When I do get a new credit card, I often use a spreadsheet to keep track of my spending toward the signup bonus. I used the spreadsheet when I got my Citi Custom Cash card late last year and my Hilton Honors card earlier this year. For some reason, the tracker that Citi has wasn’t working in my account. Anyway, I could definitely benefit from the Grub hub and Uber Eats credits every month. The Amex offers are also a nice feature on the Amex cards. I’ve already used some of the offers on my Hilton Honors card. Great video, Daniel! This video was definitely thorough in going over the many benefits of this card.
Hi Daniel, I’ve recently started my credit card journey and your videos have been super helpful. I may have missed this but in regards to credit utilization, if I go over 30% of my credit limit which supposedly is bad but I pay it down to 1% before the billing cycle ends, my credit score won’t be effected negatively right.
Thank you daniel...i found this video helpful as i just recently opened the amex gold card last week.. My question is about the annuel fee and how the credits in dining and uber eats could offset the fee?... after i use these credits... how do i apply it to the annual fee?
So it’s more of a net cost when you add things up at the end of the year. Meaning you pay $250 up front to get $20 in credits back per month from the 2 monthly credits. So at the end of the year you will have paid $250 and received up to $240 back in credits. So nothing is applied against the annual fee, it’s just a net total. Hope that makes sense!
I have a question. I want to get both gold and platinum. Basically a duo of both. Gold for every purposes and platinum for travel and all. Which one I should get first? And second one I get after 3 months.
I always say to try at different times of the day and with different internet browsers. Try checking different affiliate or referral links you find as well - or even check Resy to see what offers that website has
Hey! To anyone who can answer I spoke to Amex asking if waiting for the due date to pat the bill with auto pay hurt my credit if I carry a decent balance on the card past the statement date… the person from Amex said it should never hurt you as long as you pay your bill monthly… this obv is different then normal credit cards correct because they send your “usage” reports to credit on statement dates correct ? Even if you pay on time (due date) you will still be hurt techbically.. is Amex different ?! Thx
So I have an Amex corporate card, thinking of applying for Amex gold and platinum. When I use the Amex eligibility link, the sign-up bonuses aren't that great. Would you recommend that I apply for Amex gold and platinum with better sign-up bonuses first, then notify Amex that I have a corporate card and would like to get the personal card annual credits?
Hi Daniel! Question for you. Can I transfer the points I got from my Amex gold to an Amex blue cash every day. I want to cancel my gold card and get something with no annual fee. Would this work without losing my points?
Is the dining credit similar to Uber where the $10 credit stacks throughout the year? Or do you need to use the dining feature every month to get the $10 credit?
Would buying gift cards (let’s say a Walmart gift card or Sam’s gift card) from a Neighborhood Walmart still be able to give me 4X points on the AmEx gold card? Those are part of my daily spending habits, especially since I get gas from Sam’s.
For the Hotel Collection, is there a max to use $100 credit? like is that only once a year thing or up to certain number of times? also if you book two rooms for two nights, does that mean i get $200 credit?
I was told that if pay with your Amex via apple pay Amex can't recognize it as a restaurant or grocery and won't give the 4x points. Do you have insight on this?
I've never heard of that honestly! I've never had an issue with something like that, but I'd be interested if other people have any experiences with that
@@Daniel_Braun I actually saw them only applying 1 pt for restaurants I dined at and I called Amex and they told him because Apple Pay codes it differently when it comes through to them they can't recognize it as a restaurant therefore 1 point and not 4 points. Also, not to sound patronizing, I do watch many of these credit card videos I I find you one of (if not the) best.
I have Amex Gold Delta card. I travel a lot internationally. I book on Delta app (I live near Atlanta). Are points based on miles of trip or money spent on ticket? I don’t think I have been getting triple points?! Thanks!
I also have the delta gold card. The card agreement says “You will earn 1 additional mile (for a total of 2 miles) on each dollar of eligible purchases charged directly with Delta ("Delta Purchases").” so it’s money spent on tickets not the miles of the trip
I will also mention the regular Amex gold card is different than the Delta gold card. Regular gold gets 3x on all flights while Delta gold gets 2x on Delta flights only
Hey Daniel, i have the sapphire reserve/ trifecta, so plat wouldn't make sense. My Amex gold offer is 90k. Do you think this is a no brainer? Or could the hilton surpass mega bonus be more worth it?
AMEX just sent me a 90k SUB in the mail today for the gold card. I personally wont benefit from the dining credits, but may get benefit from the Uber credits. I feel like 90k. points is too good to pass up. Would it be a "waste" to sign up, get/use the 90k points, and then down grade before the next annual fee hits in 2024?
Does anyone know which restaurants don't upcharge on Uber Eats and Grubhub? I know Chipotle is one but all the other restaurants I've seen increase prices by a few dollars on Uber Eats or Grubhub versus the cost on the restaurant's website directly. I'm not talking about delivery fee I mean even when it is set to pickup.
Yeah it varies from place to place so it depends on your location. Some people don't mind the delivery fee if it brings more convenience, but I don't like when there's a premium even for pickup because I would just rather call in the order directly with the restaurant haha
Hey guys I’m 25 and I keep getting this gold card offer to my mail I don’t know if I should get it or not my score is 760 but I’m not sure if this is worth it getting it , thanks
Great video man! Editing is crazy! I’m waiting til I’m under 5/24 to get this card as I have the Business Gold Card right now as it has the 4x dining and 4x gas! - Ivan

I've been trying to understand the appeal of this card for the average consumer, given the time I've spent assessing its benefits. I even receive a $100 discount through my employer due to my existing AMEX corporate card, but still can't find the appeal. I am a military veteran, no longer active duty.. so the full credit is not given. It's a good benefit, but as soon as you lose your active duty status.. you go straight into annual fees, and there is no free program swap from the Amex Gold card (Similar to downgrading/program swapping from the Chase Sapphire to a Freedom Unlimited/Flex). You have to close the account if you no longer want to pay those annual fees. Not ideal. From my observations, rates offered by travel partners on the Chase/AMEX portals often match or exceed the prices on the travel partner direct websites. So in many instances, there's a loss in value. It's tough to unearth significant benefits for an average cardholder. I wouldn't mind hoarding all of my AMEX points if the trade-in value were unbeatable. However, currently, as a typical cardholder, you're essentially paying $250 just for card ownership. Where's the value when a large chunk of your earnings goes towards the annual fee? Let's draw a comparison to some no-annual-fee cards: For Restaurants (AMEX offers 3x back): - Numerous banks such as Chase, Bilt, Wells Fargo, CapOne, Bank of America, and US Bank offer cards with at least 3% returns on dining with zero annual fees. For instance, the US Bank Altitude GO provides 4x back on dining without any annual fee, and the Citi Custom Cash offers 5% back (maximum $500 each billing cycle)! Regarding Groceries (AMEX provides 4x back, subject to restrictions): - The no-annual-fee "Blue Cash Everyday" gives 3% back, or the "Citi Custom Cash" offers 5% back (maximum $500 each billing cycle). When I contacted Citi about this card, they confirmed you can spend and receive rewards anywhere MasterCard is accepted, excluding Costco. So, shopping at Sam's, Walmart, and Target is an option! However, with the Amex Gold, none of these supermarkets accept this card. So you're essentially paying more upfront for groceries at smaller, non-supermarket stores and only receiving 4% back where the card is accepted. It's quite a letdown for an annual fee of $250! About Flights (AMEX offers 3x back through the AMEX portal): - This offer is rather weak for a $250 annual fee. All Chase Freedom cards offer 5% booked through their portal, with no annual fee. No brainer. Moreover, there are options like the Chase Freedom Flex, US Bank Cash+, and the Discover IT - all offer 5% in rotating categories that typically cover most large spending categories every quarter. Simply switch the card you're using as new quarters roll out, and you're likely matching, if not exceeding, what the AMEX Gold offers - but with 5% rewards. I own all three and generally hit everything. This card promotes poor spending and dining habits. The "$240" credits for Uber and selected dining options only provide $10 each per month, with NO ROLLOVER into the following month(s). Personally, I don't think these should be classified as credits. If you're utilizing these every month, business credit cards might be a better fit. No annual fee credit cards create peace of mind. I don't know about the majority of people, but I'd prefer not to focus on milestones or making sure I'm spending enough every year to justify annual fees, especially the higher they are. That's a recipe for disaster and spending outside of your means. Not to mention that annual fees may be subject to increase in time.
I don't think the average consumer will get huge value from this card. Credit card UA-camrs earn a lot from referral bonuses, so they might hype up a card more than it deserves
Another perk is there are a few arenas and stadiums that are sponsered by AMEX. I went to a Drake concert last week at Barclays Arena and AMEX card holders had a private entrance which allowed me to skip insane line. Got two free drinks, and 10% off all food purchases in the arena.
That's another really nice feature! I honestly haven't been able to use that yet, but for big cities like NYC that can be a nice thing to take advantage of at sports games and other events
@@Daniel_Braun I love it. Makes me feel super exclusive lol.
Wait do you show your card before entering or do they automatically know because it displays some sort on icon on the ticket
@@ADMECJC Just show your AMEX card. They'll just tap it to a card reader but it's no charge or anything. Other locations I've been to ask for ID.
Definitely going to use this perk when I go see Drake at crypto arena 🔥🥂🦉

You can track your spend by going to 'Statement and Activity' > on the left side under 'Card Activity' go to 'View by Year'> Click on '2023 to Date' > scroll all the way down. I'm pretty sure the annual fee is included in that total, so just deduct that from your spend amount.

Amex gold vs everyday blue cash preferred 🤔 which one has an edge over the other
depends if you value the points for travel/gift cards or cash back for your statement credit
Would you recommend paying bills with the gold card? It’s beneficial?
If there’s not a processing fee like $3.75 or whatever then yeah why not.
Using a referal to get another card for double the bonus points works only if you can charge another 6k onto the other card. Gotta keep that in mind.

I finally have a referral for 90K sign up! Going to start sending those links lol
If I use the AMEX card that is in my Apple Wallet to pay for Uber, do I still need to add the AMEX card directly to the Uber account?
Yes. The card number has to be a stored payment method in the Uber app to generate the monthly Uber Cash credit.
Is this information current as of today. I just was approved for a gold card
Do the people you add get a priority pass too or is it only the main account holder?
Is there any way to increase the sign on bonus? I’m ready to apply but it’s currently sitting at 60k points.
So to get the retention offer I have to wait for the gold to take out the $250 the following year?
Do balance transfers count towards spending requirements.
No
I just got approved and really want to hit that sign up bonus can I pay my car payment, insurance to help me get to that $6,000 before 6 months?
You can definitely do the car insurance. Not sure about the payment though, i can’t.
Love my Amex Gold👌🏾👍🏽👍🏽
For the 7th offer , is it once a year perk or can be used multiple times a year ?
Hi Daniel! Question for you. Can I transfer the points I got from my Amex gold to an Amex blue cash every day. I want to cancel my gold card and get something with no annual fee. Would this work without losing my points?
Hmm I got the card but it doesn’t show my spending power. I’m afraid if I use it, it will get declined 😅
I thought the same thing
If I end up getting this and the platinum, do I get both Uber credits combined?
Yes you do.
Great info. Didn't know about Rakuten. I just set it up. Thanks! GO BIRDS!!!
Go Birds!! Thanks for watching, great to hear you set up Rakuten as well now
Is the dining credit similar to Uber where the $10 credit stacks throughout the year? Or do you need to use the dining feature every month to get the $10 credit?
They expire at the end of the month. So you have $10 each month that do not stack
I added my Amex on my Uber app, but I did not get the credit.
Regular gold gets 3x on all flights while Delta gold gets 2x on Delta flights only
Yeah like @christiec5 said, the miles earned on that card and most credit cards is based on the dollar value of the ticket
Can I transfer more than 10k on the Amex gold daily
Does adding authorized user hurt my credit?
No
Hey Daniel, i have the sapphire reserve/ trifecta, so plat wouldn't make sense. My Amex gold offer is 90k. Do you think this is a no brainer? Or could the hilton surpass mega bonus be more worth it?
3:01 just pay your rent/mortgage on it for those months.
I am trying to look up gold card and it is not showing up does anyone knows what is going on with it?
What is considered “eligible purchases” ?
The editing is amazing!!
Thanks so much Eduardo! Yeah I really like what my editor was able to do here with the visuals, so I'll share your feedback with them!
Nice I can Uber to the end of my driveway to get my mail once a month .
Chipotle up charges by $2-3 here in southern California
Hey guys I’m 25 and I keep getting this gold card offer to my mail I don’t know if I should get it or not my score is 760 but I’m not sure if this is worth it getting it , thanks
Hi, any update on these past months? Did you get the card or find another better one? Hope you don’t mind sharing?!
Great video man! Editing is crazy! I’m waiting til I’m under 5/24 to get this card as I have the Business Gold Card right now as it has the 4x dining and 4x gas!
- Ivan
I tried to cancel, since my wife and I rarely eat out, and they gave me a 30,000 retention offer.
That's a really good retention offer! Easily offsets the annual fee, even at $0.01 per point value
@@Daniel_Braun a reply from the man himself! Thanks. Great content.
@@CitizenZero1 I try my best to reply soon after I upload each video haha. Appreciate you watching so soon after it was published - thank you so much, glad to hear you're enjoying the content!
Are you able to load money to your grubhub account to rack up over time?
That wallet would look dope in my pocket 👀👀
They're great wallets! Giveaway details coming soon!
Why doesn’t Amex call this card the Wheat 🌾 card or the 🥔 Card (given it’s good for food spend)?
Daniel, thank you for making the video, however the Rakuten $30 referral didn’t work. Not sure why. Any advice?
Interesting - I just tried it an it looks like it's active on my end. Maybe try another internet browser? Or possibly even try someone else's link if mine is not working
How do u see ur Uber app credit
Let's draw a comparison to some no-annual-fee cards:
For Restaurants (AMEX offers 3x back):
- Numerous banks such as Chase, Bilt, Wells Fargo, CapOne, Bank of America, and US Bank offer cards with at least 3% returns on dining with zero annual fees. For instance, the US Bank Altitude GO provides 4x back on dining without any annual fee, and the Citi Custom Cash offers 5% back (maximum $500 each billing cycle)!
Regarding Groceries (AMEX provides 4x back, subject to restrictions):
- The no-annual-fee "Blue Cash Everyday" gives 3% back, or the "Citi Custom Cash" offers 5% back (maximum $500 each billing cycle).
About Flights (AMEX offers 3x back through the AMEX portal):
- This offer is rather weak for a $250 annual fee.
This man is making a TON off all the referrals
Hi Daniel. This card is a fixture in my wallet too. It’s my food workhorse. Hope you’re staying cool, my friend!
Just keep track of your statement payments…
It’s so stupid how the Uber cash expires every month.. what am I supposed to buy with 10 dollars 😂
One of my favorite cards in the game! Great editing, video and information! 🫡
