Easily one of my favorite games of all time. It can tend to drag on some of the levels, but Introversion's games seem to run much deeper than their surfaces suggest. They're very technology-focused games, and Darwinia itself suggests multiple levels of reality in both the Darwinian's world and our own.
To all of the brave Darwinians and squaddies who gave their virtual lives to save this epic little world, I forever salute you here and forever more. May you rest in peace.
This song is just so epic!! All I want to do is replay Darwinia now... I want to dedicate this comment to all the brave Squaddies, Engineers, Officers, Armours, and of course Darwinians, who gave their lives for the freedom of Darwinia. Rest in peace, little virtual dudes! ;'D
Is it weird that, on my third playthrough of the game, at the end of a level I started wondering about what fate individual units- not just officers but also squaddies- deserve? At the end of Containment I decommed one officer who'd led a large group of Darwinians across three islands to safety, then felt bad about it and realized that his soul might be reborn as an enemy and then killed by me at least once. I was tempted to send an Engineer out just to get the one soul to prevent that.
I always choose the first dude to get to the place the officer directs him to to be the next officer. I like to think that ranking up hard working darwinians encourages them to keep moving quickly and stOP WALKING INTO THE WATER AND BOUNCING OFF IT AND THEN SCREAMING
Wikipedia describes it as a "real-time tactics and real-time strategy game", which I think is the best genre description for the majority of gameplay (there's one level which is an RTS and a couple other where you can choose to play RTS style, the rest uses the same engine but with unlimited unit creation and no time constraints). It's also incredibly beautiful, plot-wise and in terms of the Darwinians, if you stop to pay attention.
i just started to play this game on xbox and its acualy pretty hard... but loads of fun! first time i heard this theme i knew it was going on my ipod! (free dvd videosof/free youtube to mp3 converter) thumbs up if you used this program and it works!
Darwinia is a strategy game which takes place in a virtual world called Darwinia. Darwinians once thrived here, until spam email containing viruses threatened their world. Your job is to eliminate the viruses, replenish the Darwinian population and eliminate the original infected email messages. Did I leave anything out?
It is a pretty cool game, I own a copy of it. Like BLARGHALT said, it is hard to explain. It is basically a virtual safari park that gets infected and the inhabitants (green Darwinians) Are the prey of the virus. It is your job to rid the system of the virus.......But yea, pretty fun game overall.

Darwinia is one of my favorite older games. The graphics are fun and unique and the gameplay is simple and straightforward.
Started playing Darwinia again (on PC mind you)... this song came on out the gate... instant chills all over again. LOVE THIS CHIPTUNE!

this still holds up in 2021.
Darwinia is one of my top games now. I found it by pure chance just a few days ago.
It was an epic short game that somehow made me forget c&c.
Darwinia NEEDS a spiritual successor.
Sadly, I don’t think that’ll happen.
@@kestrel4360 welp, guess a 10,000th anniversary version will do.
Darwinia was such a wonderful little game, I kind of wish there was another Darwinia game.
Imagine if someone could recreate darwinians as actual intelligent AI
11 years after your comment AI has come really far, it might actually be done!
i love darwinia's aesthetics. have i spelled aesthetics wrong? idk
i just started to play this game on xbox and its acualy pretty hard... but loads of fun! first time i heard this theme i knew it was going on my ipod! (free dvd videosof/free youtube to mp3 converter) thumbs up if you used this program and it works!
hard to describe.
easy to love
From now my life quest is to create an AI closest to darwinians as possible.
Wish me good luck.
Good luck, if you're still doing it.
Good luck, if you're still doing it.
Good luck, if you’re still doing it.
If you need funding I can help, good luck, if you’re still doing it.
Good luck, if you're still doing it.
SAVE US!
I've got this track as a melody of incoming call :)
My favorite RTS game ever!

must be one of the best OST oldies there will ever be!
Maybe. And for that, you must pay. WITH YOUR BLOOD.
*switchblade*
this song puts the win in darwinia
It's a weird little RTS with 2D units fighting viruses inside a computer. Hard to describe.
Code with a soul.
Triangles are not the source of all evil. RED TRIANGLES are the source of all evil.
We need a band to play this... Seriously :D
God, this song screams Commodore 64.
this kind music is the best
@VillainousOperative yeah, all your dudes were disposable, but especially the squaddies. they were basically grenade-chucking dixie cups.
Will happen in time, then it, Defcon and UpLink will come full circle.
The game is cool, yes, but this song is so much more! WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END??!?!?!?

You spelled it perfectly.
It's the only RTS game I've ever been able to stand playing lol. It's by the same company that published UpLink.
SID chip inspired aural happiness
@scratch799 It's a MUST TRY computergame.
wow never played the game but actually kinda cool.
So, if you go to trash80.net you can get most of the tracks from this cd, except "Excuses" isn't there. Anyone know where to find it?
"The Darwinians will look up and shout 'Save us!', and I will whisper...No."
Thought of this when I saw the green background in the video.
also they have multiwinia
a different version of darwinia that is a civil war of the different darwinian colors
just did a quick search for dma-sc they released the song on their site for free.... oh and hooray for darwinia =D
Anybody still playing Darwinia or Multiwinia
