    I think button layout should not follow rotation order but priority based on how frequent those keys are needing to be pressed. Putting keys only used during 2min on valuable slots like 1-5 with or without modifiers seems counter intuitive to 90% of the rest of combat time. But what do I know? I'm a tank main lol.

      2min buttons are pretty important to DPS, so preferably you have the key buttons for your burst window easily accessible. this would be the big hitters like fellcleave/confetior/gnashing fang/bloodspiller, or your buff/resource gain buttons (some of which now tie to damage) as well. on the other hand, stuff you aren't hitting in a regular rotation with niche usage (think stuns for instance) don't need a valuable button slot like 1,2,3,q,e etc.

      The main thing to consider for your rotational buttons is how comfortable it is to press them in the sequence that they need to be pressed when executing your rotation. Like for PLD, FoF and Req are always weaved together and Expiacion and CoS are always weaved together, so it's important to not have a crazy stretch that needs to be done quickly when double weaving them.

      @@AlastorXIV like for what job u talking about? Abilities ARE important, u want 0 drifts even if it’s 2min cooldown, and every slot without modifier is more valuable plus my own setup every key is comfortable to be pressed, not sure what you would have in there instead also 5 is kinda bad key to use

    I am use to playing with a mmo mouse. My question is, how do you press all these buttons while moving with the same hand that needs to press them?

    • @StingcatKnight
      @StingcatKnight  2 місяці тому +1

      I explained this during the movement part, you can easily use your mouse to move, whilst holding RMB ( to control camera ) + LMB (to move forward)

    • @StingcatKnight
      @StingcatKnight  2 місяці тому +2

      and btw, if you have mmo mouse, I would stuck to those mouse specific keybinds, I think its a lot easier to play that way than using regular keyboard

    The video starts good, but gets a little vague/misguided at 2:30, as it assumes a single, specific layout. Whether you use Standard Layout with auto face, or Legacy Movement may change your movement keys. I use Standard Movement for combat because its more precise, faster, and gives more control, specifically for the camera (its always the legacy people that get hit by the weird AOE telegraphed from far away because they use camera based controls) but legacy is easier for people to adapt to even if it gives less control options that standard does, legacy was made for controllers originally; also this video assumes you do not have strafe AND character turning keybound, for example, I dont think turning keybinds are super useful, but its worth mentioning. The bindings in this video requires you to let go of movement keys to hit hotkeys, which is a given only if you dont use a MMO mouse. An MMO mouse using just three buttons (7,8,9, or 10,11,12, depending on the mouse) alone, and a shift combo of them (Shift+8, Shift+9, etc) can be used for every basic rotation in the game while never letting go of movement keys, and utilizes those hotkeys StingKnight says to never use =D. Just another recommendation, since I don't regard giving up any omni-directional movement for a ability key if you have the choice (even ones that animation lock). Other than this, the rest of the video is GOLD, with lots of good tips and recommendations (though i use use mouse ping... what else is tilde going to do? =D)

      I would add that you should try both legacy and standard. People that use one often hate the other. I have FF14 on 2 gaming computers in the house (a sitting and a standing PC) and tried legacy on one and standard on the other, and found myself super annoyed with how legacy restricted my camera use in combat, and found all the 'advantages' of legacy were things I could easily accomplish in standard; which is all to say, you have options to likely get FF14 working however you are most familiar/comfortable with it.

    Or just use sloth addon and instead of pressing 30 buttons press 7.
    Or don't and keep looking at your hotbar 80% of the time. If that's your type of gameplay, enjoy

    I keybind but my mouse has only 3 buttons, left click, right click and mouse wheel because im left handed.. I use my mouse wheel button for damage buffs ie rages, beserks etc..
    I use my left and right mouse buttons to move and I use the following keybinds..
    middle mouse button, f1, f2, ,f3, f4, f5, f6, f7, f8, f9
    z ` t r \ f q e 1 2 3 4 5 6
    Once I get more spells I will be using g c
    since the game uses delay I can quickly reposition when using f5-f9
    Just want to help other leftys like my self.
