This actually breaks my heart....there are so many people who could use these clothes. It's unbelievable to me that they go through the trouble to ruin it so it's unwearable. They should be ashamed.
Any employer who would insist on this being there store policy has never been in real NEED. Why not set an example, take the lead and donate, there must be local shelters or Charities who would be so grateful for the help, with kindest thoughts and prayers to everyone at Christmas from the UK💕🇬🇧 x
I agree. I have seen alot of homeless sleeping on the streets of Marseille and people do throw out good old clothes in normal dumpsters . Those clothes could go to someone in need
What a shame! I agree with y'all. The kids clothes just gets me. There's a lot of little people out there that could use that stuff. Thank y'all for donating the stuff that y'all find that can bless others. Have a very Merry Christmas!
It's 1030 at night. I'm all snuggled in for the night. Headphones in and ready to feed my addiction by watching Steve and Steph......problem is I'm laughing hysterically and my 15 year old is pissed and yelling for me to shut up which only makes me laugh more!!! Oh my my my!!! Made my night as I picture old Navy staff chewing merchandise in the back room!!! Love it!
Wow! Am again so sad to see all of those pieces slashed up when many kids need clothing 😌. Well, thanks again for saving it for the lady that will recycle and reuse. Makes me feel better. 💜🌷
It's truly sad that in this day and age that perfectly good clothing isn't donated to Goodwill! If a company doesn't want an item for whatever their reasons then they should donate those item's instead of destroying them! 😡
If they give for charity they will sell low prices and costumer will stop buying on store and only buy from charity so they destroy and never lose costumers 😑
Somebody at Old Navy probably saw the video where you repaired those coats and decided to make sure nothing would be repairable ever again. Just wasteful. If they are so concerned with the possibility of fraudulent returns all they would have to do is mark the item on the inside with permanent marker. I don’t usually shop there but now I can’t in good conscience ever shop at Old Navy.
Love your videos. I worked for a big retailer who used to donate the clothes to shelters and charities instead of trashing them. Unfortunately, some people who received these charitible donations, would try to return them to the store for cash. It would happen on the regular across the country. This led to the destruction of the items that are not donated overseas. Employees in general, do not enjoy slashing usable items. I'm sure most of them would love to get it out of the trash themselves.... another reason the stores have them destroyed.
The clothes maybe can be given to someone who makes quilts as my grandma would take our clothes that we out grew and were torn and made quilts and then would give them to nursing homes or her church. Grandson found a gift card with $79.23 on it and decided to check all his gift cards hes found and for a grand total of $121.61 he is going to donate it to the food bank that feeds the homeless on holidays. He makes me proud each and every day. Proud of my daughter ( his mom) for teaching and raising all my grandkids to give back and to help the less fortunate when you can. And with him dumpster diving he does just that. May everyone have a blessed and joyful holiday season. ❤🤗👍
@@LittleMissDeath no excuse.. wouldnt someone wearing that stuff be "advertising" the product?. People would go shopping to find that stuff, but it's ok. Slice it up.. less customers.. js🤷🏼♀️
Actually, most shops do, especially the bigger brands with a lot of stores... Even if they don't talk about it, they do. I worked once at a well-known clothing store, and at the end of the year, unsold clothes with defects were cut with an exacto knife so people wouldn't use them or resell them. Like, winter jacket in almost perfect condition. Those defects were sent back to the company to be burned. :(
I almost have to look away, I just don't understand why a business would do that, destroying those clothes. Take the tags off of things and put an X on the tag in the neck/waist, so someone can't take it back. My mom used manage a Salvation Army Thrift Store, a world within our world. The need is still great for people.
Thank you for opening our eyes to how wasteful these stores are being! Old Navy seems to be the worst offender. I will not step foot in one of their stores until they become more responsible with their disposal of unwanted inventory. It’s just shameful the waste....and don’t get me started on all of the hangers and plastic they “contribute” to the landfills😤😖😡😡😡
Here is an idea for the lady who uses the scrap material. I have used old jeans to make jean blankets. Cut the legs off or cut into squares and sew. They are so warm just finish them like a regular quilt. I have even made a baby blanket with one of the pockets sewn on for the mom's keys. Great to lay down at a park for baby or for cold weather wrap for baby.
Oh Steff , I was so glad to hear you speak about the Lady in your neighborhood. A couple of times I’ve heard you and Steve talk about the little old Lady.🤪 I don’t think that there’s a job that could pay me enough Money to destroy clothes, just could not bring myself to do it. Ever since I learned about Old Navy on your videos, I refuse to walk in their door. I’m sure they’ll survive without my business but I would not be able to survive knowing that I would be contributing to that in any way! Thanks for keeping us educated ☮️💟 Nana
You 2 save so much! My husband & I drive truck so we have a little time- but sometimes we find a few things. I found a broken sectional mirror that I decorated & patched up, I couldn't stand to see it in a landfill!😮
Steve Steph thank you so much for sharing this video as they throw away clothing man they should at least donate them in my book is Steve and steph to the rescue you keep some and donate them love watching it love you both have a wonderful day
It’s really sad that the store does that to the clothes. But it’s also good that you are able to take them to the lady that can re-purpose them. 😊 Someone might be able to take the stuffing out of those jackets and use it to make a stuff animal toy or a pillow. 🧸 Re-purposing is always better than letting it all go to the landfill. When I get home from work, I enjoy watching your videos!!! 💻 🧡 😊😺😻
Who ever did the slashing should be ashamed of themselves. I think they watch your show . So you should comment about their shameful ness. Also put a sew on patch on the coin purse. And make it fancy. You guys are awesome 👏🏼 love Linda from Ammon.
I hope they could have those donated. Can't imagin the hard labor to make those and just end up in landfills. Isn't it good to feel and know that someone, some people are making life a bit better with those clothes.

Okay I’m guessing the destroy the clothes because they don’t want someone getting them from the trash and returning them to the store. Hi I’m catching up on some of your older videos that I missed because I’m going through dumpster diving video withdrawals! It occurred to me, since “distressed” clothing is so popular right now, if you find jeans with slashes on the front, maybe save some time and leave them there. I’ll bet some people will want them that way! 😁
Hi Stephanie and Steve yes it's a disgrace with these stores through those clothes they could take in the shelters or give them to someone who needs them okay have a nice week
Guys!! First dive ever behind old navey!! I got 30 or more.. ahvent counted yet.. of black mens jeans in all sizes. Security tags still on but i can pop them. None cut!!!! Im so excited!! Wish i could post a picture! Plus i git 2 frames and a brand bew box of red xmas bulbs!!
There use to be something you could buy online & it matches the color of leather that you can patch it. Or you could go to JoAnnes & talk to someone in the fabric department about that little purse they may have a kit to patch a little wallet.
It makes me so angry to see what some stores will do to keep anyone who might really need it from using it. I refuse to shop at Old Navy and Ulta because of their practices of destroying items.
Yup, when it gets down to it this is definitely the reason. Destroyed means a loss right off while donating is only a deduction. They can say it's so people won't return for refund but there are other ways around that (cutting the inside label). It's ONLY about the bottom line to these stupid stores.
Makes me sick what they do to those clothes ! Could have been donated to the poor who have nothing warm for their children for winter. Tears , tears, tears !!! God Bless !
We all need to call or email corporate office and ask them to stop. That there folks out there that are COLD and could use these items. Call enough and they will change.
I really don't know what is wrong with these people, who cut up all this clothing. There is something seriously wrong with them. After working retail for over 10 years at a large department store as a manager, these stores are required by corporate to damage anything thrown out, for one so They can’t bring it back and try to get cash for it and if they don’t damage the items they can actually lose their licensing for that store so corporate would come in and close that store down because of finding merchandise not damage to the “specs that the corporation lays out so you got a kind of blame the corporate not the the the stores the stores are just doing their job out that they’re required to do
Wow you no that is so upsetting to see this My lord don’t they have a heart for the kids that can use it There is kids in this world 🌎 like in orphanage and home listen

Whenever the slasher vids come out I see a lot of people comment suggestions on how Steph can repair or repurpose the slashed clothes. Yes, you may have a good idea for that but it all comes down to time and inclination. Steph is only one person and she should not feel obligated to reuse or repair every piece of slashed clothing she finds. Who could possibly have that much time??!! And one would need to WANT to do that as well as have the time. The store is disgusting for doing that, especially the coats!! Steve and Steph save so much from the landfills already, I'm just happy they do what they do. I do like the idea of wearing the slashed clothes in the store though. With a sign that says the store did that when they threw them away.
This actually breaks my heart....there are so many people who could use these clothes. It's unbelievable to me that they go through the trouble to ruin it so it's unwearable. They should be ashamed.
