  • Installed in 1988 by Doppelmayr, the Mile 1 Express was a significant improvement in Panorama's lift system. Before the Mile 1 Express was built, skiers would take an extremely long T-Bar (installed in 1969) that more or less ran where the current Mile 1 chair now resides. As Panorama was in a period of rapid expansion and development (with the Horizon chair, Sunbird and Toby chairs, and Champagne T-Bar being installed prior), Mile 1 made the most logical sense for a detachable chairlift.
Constructed by Doppelmayr, Mile 1 is extremly unique. This chairlift was built when Doppelmayr was phasing out the CLD-260 detachable chairlift model (which utilized chains) towards the UNI model (which utilized tire contours). Mile 1 was the first Doppelmayr detachable in North America to utilize this design.
Throughout the years, Mile 1 has held up fairly well. As the lift runs in both winter and summer, it has accumulated very high hours. Mile 1 is next in Panorama's lift replacement wishes, and I could see a six pack chairlift eventually replacing this lift.

The terminals are definitely a very early version of the UNI.
