  • How to shave Poodle Feet | In this video I demonstrate how to shave Poodles feet.
    In the Grooming world they are usually called Clean Feet or Poodle Feet.
    Blades that can be used are a #10, 15, 30, or 40.
    Use caution when clipping a light colored Poodle as there skin is more prone to irritation after clipping and puppies that are having their feet shaved for the first time.
    Generally the more you clip the feet the more you can use a shorter blade unless the feet are sensitive. A #10 is your go to blade.
    I am using a Bravura Trimmer an adjustable blade that can be adjusted to a #9, 10, 15, 30 or 40.
    Use caution not to cut into the webbing on the feet.

    This is so helpful! Thank you! Our groomer, who is also our friend, gave up grooming. She felt bad leaving us without a groomer, so she bought me the clippers, blades, table, everything. She showed me how to groom him (Krispin, our boy), but did not show me how to do feet or the top knot. He's going on the table today, so thank you for this tutorial. I had been scissoring feet, but this looks much faster and easier. Thanks again!

    I work in the morgue of an emergency animal hospital. This is exactly how we shave the paws on deceased pets to make memorial paw prints! It made me wonder about the grooming of living paws, if it's possible to go between the toes without nicking the skin (doesn't hurt a dead dog). So all those positions are a lot different from how I would hold the paw, really interesting comparison. I'll have to try this way too now.

    Thanks for your video and the commentary. I have a rescue poodle and I am working with my groomer on getting her used to being handled and groomed. She is now letting me trim her nails and some of her paw area and now I am more confident in the next stage x

    I’m just starting to do my own grooming. I have a wonderful 6year old standard poodle. She’s so very patient with me. I’m thankful for your videos. Such a help. Thank you.

    Could you demonstrate a toy poodle's feet, please. Mine are OK but not as easy to do as a standard. My male is 16 and my girl is a tiny 5 month old.

    how come always keep their nail so short doesnt it hurt when they get cut that short

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. It doesn't hurt to keep nails short . It hurts if you clip into the quick. Short nails are better for the dog then long nails as long nails an hurt their feet and change their foot structure and gait.

    So the bit about not having to shave the feet? Does that apply just to the tops?

    Camera angle could be improved. Hand was blocking details.
    Good video, I needed to see that. Thank you for the info!
    1. Are you happy with the Wahl Bravura?
    2. What mini clipper do you recommend for Mini Poodles? I use the BravMini Cordless, but very disappointed with the low power and cheap battery with no replacements - have to send it in each time battery dies, and it dies often.
    3. Any tips on how to get rid of brown stains on my white poodles paws? Any bleach?
    4. I need to buy some poodle scissors. Do you have favorites?

      @LoveofGrooming  5 років тому +1

      I love my bravuras. I never had any problems with mine. Maybe you got a bad one. Wahl is a great company and their customer service is excellent. Talk to them and they may replace it for you.
      I use both wahls for poodles feet.
      My favorite shears are these shears amzn.to/2XZcRsm
      For brown stains, I use a whitener like this one amzn.to/2XPCLuE
      although it does not take the stain away completely, it lessens it. I clip out the stained areas if it does not ruin the groom. I never use bleach as it harms the dog and yourself. You can use chalk like this to cover up stains safely

    I have a senior who hates his feet touched at all I scissor trim his feet but what do you suggest for the underside of the pads? He can get mats in there and then starts chewing

    • @LoveofGrooming

      I usually use scissors on the pads when they struggle for the clippers.

    Beautiful job on the feet. I did not know about the cuff line, nice touch!
    I have a mini poodle. I used the Wahl Bravmini clipper, but its like a toy, gets jammed easily and blades get dulled fast. The blade is a fixed #30, and costs $25 - $30 each and too small to be sharpened. I am looking for a clipper that will work on his toes. Is the Wahl Bravura the best clipper for small toes or is there a better one? I bought the Andis Vida, about the same size as Bravura but its still too big for delicate work. The Bravmini gets into their face, paws, ears easily and is a very fine quiet clipper. I desperately need a tiny clipper that is strong and dependable.

    When reaching the line on the feet I would begin by shaving the pad first and shave to a point just to the edge of the large pad and work from there straight around to get the placement on the sides and front of the foot, clipping from the nails up then clip between the toes
