      Hi Amy! I have been enrolled in Animal Behavioral College for a year which has an online course for dog grooming. I was in the process of completing my hours to receive my certification but my mentor was absolutely terrible. She is the type of groomer that gives us a bad name. She was constantly yelling at the dogs and sometimes I could even hear her smack them. On top of that she wasn’t trying to teach me anything. It was terrible and I would go home crying every day. I couldn’t handle it anymore but luckily the owner of the grooming salon decided to shut down that part of her business so my mentor is no longer my mentor and no longer a groomer. 😊 Anyway I have been leaning everything I know by watching your videos. You have seriously helped me so much!!! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you and your channel. You are such an inspiration to me and I aspire to be like you and groom like you. I saw that you have a basic dog grooming course available. I would very much like to take it. I see the link to that already but I also remember you saying something that there is like a monthly subscription group or video conference. I don’t know if you are still doing that but if you are will you please tell me how to access it!!! Thank you so much! YOU ROCK!!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🫶🏼🐩✂️

    Thank you for making this easy-to-understand video. I needed the chunker sheers to do what I envisioned but didn't know there were different kinds of blending/trimming sheers. You just saved me over $100 on the wrong sheers that will be going back tomorrow!

    Thank you so much! I always feel that I’m using my thinning shears wrong cuz I don’t fully understand them but now I do and I wasn’t! It feels good to know that I was doing it correctly but I now know more about the different types of shears I can use.
    But I would love to know how to help my client I clean homes and dog sit for her she has a big Leonberger who is going on to be a year old and she gets some Big matting around her neck (collar area) she has an electric fence. And in her leg joints. She is pro groomed at the recommended 6 weeks time and brushed almost every day if not every day. But my true question is what tool do you recommend for her big thick downy coat to help keep the matting at bay?

    Thank you for showing us how to use the blending shears... I have a 7 lb dachshund mix and I'm wondering if my little guy needs any grooming? I've been trimming his hair on the back of his legs with straight sheers but it looks pretty bad until I bought some blending shears today lol. I don't know if there's a way I can submit a picture to you and you can tell me what you think he needs? If anything? He sheds so it's not like it's growing out or anything. Thanks

    Thank you! I have a ragdoll & need to keep his bib & pants "in check". Really on the fence between a chunker & blending shear. He has so much ultra soft, long hair. I'm thinking chunker. Any comments? ALSO, when I try to buy a blending shear, they're often labeled as "thinning" shears. Are they the same? Thinning shears make me think of human thinning shears where you cut & pull down shaft of hair to "thin" the hair. That is not what blending shears seem to do (the action of cutting w/blending seems diff than cutting w/thinning shears. What am I missing?

    • @GoGroomer
      @GoGroomer  Рік тому

      Sometimes brands call blenders, thinking shears. If they are made for dogs they are the same. But there is a difference between the technical term blending and thinning shears. Thinning shears have teeth on both blades.

    Hello Amy: Could you tell me please what blending shears you would recommend for a Maltese, I saw you were saying the Jody Murphy blenders are good but do they take off too much hair? I have nothing but time to groom Molly at home but she is only 3 months old and I want her to eventually be groomed like the Korean cuts, I have bought her many accessories already like bling bling berets and many bows, could you please recommend the best blenders to use for this. I look forward to your reply. 😘

      sure, depending on the trim and breed type. They always grow back and it does not affect a dog to have the whiskers trimmed contrary to certain beliefs.

    Do you have a curved blending shears?

    • @GoGroomer
      @GoGroomer  11 місяців тому

      yes, curved blending shears are a waste of money because they are bent after manufacturing which causes them the lock teeth and hard to sharpen.

      You don’t have to purchase these tools, you can take you dog for routine grooming with a professional who has invested in all the right equipment. Knowing how much we spend on proper tools gives you a whole new appreciation I’m sure 😊

    • @dottyk1637
      @dottyk1637 4 місяці тому +1

      Actually, buy the best you can afford. Buying better equipment of anything, it pays for itself in the long run, better metals/manufacturing allows the cutting edge to stay sharp longer and the action is easier on your hands.
      P.S. I've researched, full customized shears can be $1000 plus, absolutely gorgeous!
