Yeah it's sad how they slowly butchered Knuckles as a character. Sure he was always a bit gullible and wasn't the brightest of the crew but he was never just pure dumb muscle.
Scott was my favorite because in those games he wasn’t overly angry/mad and he didn’t struggle with a inferiority complex from Sonic and Shadow. Scott Knuckles (SA2B) was chill, showed good intelligence (breaking the Masted Emerald so that Eggman and Rouge couldn’t steal it, knowing that he could repair it on his own), humility, camaraderie, and had the ability to work well with others (Sonic Heroes)
Scott has the voice that matches the most. If he had been given better direction he could've sounded perfect. Rest of the voices don't really pull off his "cool" factor aswell.

Dan Green just really captures Knuckles' tough guy attitude. But Scott Dreier nailed the dry wit pretty well. Travis Willingham would be much better if the scripts he was given didn't make Knuckles so stupid. Brian Drummond should've been voicing Sonic with that voice, not Knuckles.
Funny trivia: Brian Drummond will (probably) continued voiced Knuckles in Sonic Prime, Netflix new series! And you will see that after watching an episode with him, you will change your mind.🙂
Travis's Knuckles to me is a better fit for Boom then Modern. And I love that man as Thor and other characters. The new guy does great but it had to grow on me.
Scott Dreier is the perfect voice. When you think of an isolated islander, you think "cool" or "laid back." Scott was able to make Knuckles sound calm and chill, but was able to be aggressive and loud when he needed to be. Dan Green is ok, he definitely went towards more of the "tough guy" direction, which isn't bad, but I prefer Dreier way more.

Scott Dreier and '06 Dan Green are the great for sure, Dreier still edges it out for me. His voice was perfect in my opinion, a character can be powerful and tough without having a gruff, gravelly voice, and that's exactly what Knuckles needed imo.

Dan literally is hot headed but he can also be serious while still being a bit gullible. Watch Sonic X to see what I mean. It captures is perfectly. I love his serious and gritty Vegeta esc voice where he sounds very intense and menacing, but it shows he's compensating for being easily fooled because he's mostly brawns. But the voice William is who you're thinking of for over the top dumb.
I grew up with scott dreier as knuckles so he's knuckles to me I just enjoyed how chill and laid back his voice was I get he's suppose to be a hot head but not always plus knuckles iq lowered with each new voice actor he was a lil dence but damn did they took it the extra mile down the line

Dreier was awesome. When I see Knuckles, I expect him to sound like that. His voice makes him sound calmer than the other voices. When Knuckles isn't mad at someone, that voice just sounds perfect for him. Has always been and will always be my favourite take on him. At 2004, a major reshuffle of the voice cast for the games occurred. Specifically, they wanted the 4Kids voices of Sonic X to match the ones in the games, and to make things simple, cut off the games cast to make way for the Sonic X cast. Kinda like how the Pokemon cast changed during Gen 3 due to 4Kids cutting the dub off, forcing another company and their cast to take over. That's why most of the Sonic cast left at 2004.
Matt TooFast4U Actually I always heard it was because Deem Bristow the Voice of Eggman from Adventure 1 to Advance 3 died, and originally they were just going to replace him with Mike Pollock from Sonic x but ended up replacing the whole cast for simplicity sake. That also explains why the Sonic Rush prerelease demo has voice clips from Ryan Drummond (Sonic's dreamcast era voice actor) while the final game uses Jason Griffith voice clips along with the rest of the 4kids cast.

At the time, Scott Dreier was the voice fitting for his character. It's my favorite voice. The other fit Knuckles during their times too but Drier's is the true Rad Red.
Dan Green and Travis Willingham are my personal favorites, for different reasons. Dan Green has a more aggressive and powerful tone which fits well, but Travis Willingham has a more strong but light sound, which I find also fitting.

I have decided to alter my personal ranking of the actors: 1- Scott Dreier (continues to be my fav even to this day; one of the few I still want from the orginal cast to come back) 2- Travis Willingham 3- Ryan Drummond (Sonic Shuffle) 4- Dan Green (I still think he was miscasted as the red echidna, but he otherwise knows how to act) 5- Bill Wise (works for the OVA version of Knuckles) 6- Michael McGaharn (Worst actor in Adventure 1; he could have at least stuck with his scrapped prototype voice) 7- Brian Drummond (you're Ocean Vegeta; but NOT Knuckles)

Fair ranking, but mine is this: Michael McGaharn: Good start Brian Drummond: So bad it’s funny Bill Wise: Best for Classic Knuckles Scott Dreier: The BEST one yet!!! Dan Green: NOOOOOOOOO!!! (The worst one of all time.) Travis Willingham: In terms of writing, a step down. In terms of the voice and acting, a step up from Dan in Forces.
Scott and Dan suit Knuckle's personalities really well. Scott suits his stoic and calculated side and Dan suits his rash and violent side. Love them both I do miss his Scott voice, tho.
Travis Willingham is my favorite voice for Knuckles. I also like his roles of Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Free from Soul Eater, and Thor from the Marvel Universe.
Without a doubt, Scott Drier and Dan Green are my favorites. Scott has a calm, and chill voice which suits Knuckles more relaxed personality, And Dan has that "Get on my bad side and I'll tear you to shreds" kinda personality which also suits Knuckles.
Michael Mcgaharn had a good voice for knuckles but he sounded like he was reading the entire time. Bill wise and Brian Drummond sound kinda similar. I like it. Scott Dreier was literally perfect, not "good" or "great". I mean the PERFECT voice of knuckles. It fits his cool, strong and tough design to a T. Probably the best voice a sonic character has had, I mean that. Dan Green made knuckles sound too meat headed and muscle-bound. Always shouting all the time😣. It suits how gullible knuckles could be but that's it. Sorry Travis willingham has tried many different voices with knuckles. From kinda dopey in sonic generations and free riders to really dopey and funny in boom to a general in forces. I think he is good as knuckles but I think he needs a definitive voice for knuckles, which I'm sure will come in time. (wish Ryan Drummond was here, because he was actually really good also.)

Scott dreier.. I don't usually say this, but he was perfectly cast as knuckles. Like literally perfect. He never sounded like he was acting, like knuckles was actually speaking (not yelling constantly and overstating the fact that he's kinda slow, like they do now😑).
No one else has ever had the same thing going for them, besides travis willingham, I do like his later comedic take.
I love Dan Green's work on Knuckles. It's so awesome!!! 😆😆 Shoot, I would just listen to him all day if I could.
You’re kidding! Scott is way better! Dan has the worst voice, even worse than Brian Drummond’s voice, it doesn’t fit Knuckles at all. Scott actually fit his look and personality.

Fox Kid's voice acting tends to go hilarious if they ever throw a dialogue too quickly thus making em too unnatural at some parts.
Why did they get rid of Scott Dreier?! :( He was the best voice sonic ever had. His other voices are good too. Especially compared to Sonia's most recent voice, but its still not as good.
At 2004, a major reshuffle of the voice cast for the games occurred. Specifically, they wanted the 4Kids voices of Sonic X to match the ones in the games, and to make things simple, cut off the games cast to make way for the Sonic X cast. Kinda like how the Pokemon cast changed during Gen 3 due to 4Kids cutting the dub off, forcing another company and their cast to take over. That's why most of the Sonic cast left at 2004.
Matt TooFast4U Actually I always heard it was because Deem Bristow the Voice of Eggman from Adventure 1 to Advance 3 died, and originally they were just going to replace him with Mike Pollock from Sonic x but ended up replacing the whole cast for simplicity sake. That also explains why the Sonic Rush prerelease demo has voice clips from Ryan Drummond (Sonic's dreamcast era voice actor) while the final game uses Jason Griffith voice clips along with the rest of the 4kids cast.

At the time, Scott Dreier was the voice fitting for his character. It's my favorite voice. The other fit Knuckles during their times too but Drier's is the true Rad Red.

Dan Green and Travis Willingham are my personal favorites, for different reasons. Dan Green has a more aggressive and powerful tone which fits well, but Travis Willingham has a more strong but light sound, which I find also fitting.

@@giroandkarin2822 He may voice Knuckles again in Sonic Prime. Perhaps he will give Knuckles a voice that is a blend of the mellowness of Scott Dreier and the aggressiveness of Dan Green. Unlike how Drummond voiced Knuckles in Underground, this new voice could do the character justice.

I have decided to alter my personal ranking of the actors:
1- Scott Dreier (continues to be my fav even to this day; one of the few I still want from the orginal cast to come back)
2- Travis Willingham
3- Ryan Drummond (Sonic Shuffle)
4- Dan Green (I still think he was miscasted as the red echidna, but he otherwise knows how to act)
5- Bill Wise (works for the OVA version of Knuckles)
6- Michael McGaharn (Worst actor in Adventure 1; he could have at least stuck with his scrapped prototype voice)
7- Brian Drummond (you're Ocean Vegeta; but NOT Knuckles)

How is McGaharn the second worst while Scott is the best? I do agree that Scott is the best but you should respect Michael since he laid the foundations for what Knuckles sounds like.

Whenever I hear Dan Green's rendition, all I can picture is Yami Yugi. The way he voices the characters is quite similar.
Travis Willingham is my favorite voice for Knuckles. I also like his roles of Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Free from Soul Eater, and Thor from the Marvel Universe.

Travis willingham has tried many different voices with knuckles. From kinda dopey in sonic generations and free riders to really dopey and funny in boom to a general in forces. I think he is good as knuckles but I think he needs a definitive voice for knuckles, which I'm sure will come in time.
