to be completely honest.. I actually really like johnny knoxville as leonardo. When I heard he was doing the voice I was like, "really?" but after listening to it.. it sounds pretty good!
In order:
1. Michael Sinterniklaas 1:27 - He's pretty much born for the role, no question.
2. Jason Biggs 3:01 - he captures the 'teenager' side of Leo very well unlike his other mature counterparts.
3. James Arnold Taylor 2:02 -This one's pretty mature and sounds a bit rugged but still manages to capture Leo's authoritative voice well. Plus, he's really freakin awesome in the movie!
4. Johnny Knoxville 5:19 - More mature than any of them and his authoritative voice suits very well, with just the right touch of sarcasm and seriousness.
5. Scott Whyte 4:50 - I dunno, there's just something about his voice that appeals to me. Plus, I played the game so I pretty much grew fond of him.
(Just a random note for 2007 Leo. He was around 18-19, so thats why he sounds a bit mature.) :)

For me, Jason Biggs was the best voice for Leo. He really captured the juvenile and mature side of Leo and sounded very responsible or comedic or playful when he needed to be. It's a shame he made those comments on Twitter about mocking the dead. I wanted him to stay until the very end. But don't get me wrong, Seth Green did a phenomenal job voicing Leo 💙
Although that wasn't the initial reason for him leaving. He was casted (or at least supposed to be) to play a character in "Orange is the New Black". Not sure if he ever was on the show, never watched it. But I read that it was going to conflict with recording schedules and they had to recast.

hey everyone!!! such a cool comparison video!!!i was honored to get to play leo for a video game... i would be the first to say i definately wasnt the best..hahhaa... cam clarke is a legend, and for me, is the ultimate!!! i tried to stay true to that acting and voice style, keeping a similar energy, without trying to do a voicematch or impression... thanks for the kind words, this was a total honor to be part of the TMNT legacy!

i love the fact that Jason Griffith and Dan Green both do a voice for Leonardo. they also do a voice in sonic x. Griffith does sonic and shadow and green does knuckles.
Finally someone realizes, I've been trying to find a comment related to this but they don't seem to talk about it.
Jason Biggs makes a great Leonardo. Never thought I'd say THAT in my life - but it's true. And I love how the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series actually gives Leo a personality and makes him likable and admirable as opposed to previous incarnations - even the 2003 series - where he was just "the leader".
Seriously, if Bay wanted to see how to properly adapt the turtles for a new audience while still staying true to their past then he should have watched the 2012 series.

1. The Turtles' personalities in TMNT 2014 are true to the originals.
2. Do your research. You probably don't even have an ounce of proof that Michael Bay was involved with "adapting the turtles." but of course you blame him because apparently everything is his fault when he's involved with a movie.

Along with everybody else, I personally like Micheal. There's just something about his voice that he brought to Leo. His voice matched with Leo's nobility and leadership and his stern and focused attitude. That's why he's my favorite out of all the others. He's just so unique.
Cam Clarke, once again wins this one.
You know, I keep wondering why I keep coming back the first cartoon voices, and I think its because even though all the characters had a trait they stuck to (Leo the stern leader, donnie the brains, etc), the shows overall light-hearted nature allowed them break out and try different things, and that as a whole, really went far in making their performances more memorable.

OMG! I can't believe that Jason Griffith and Dan Green voiced Leo in other versions.
Michael Sinterniklaas is the winner. Cam Clarke is 2nd, and Brian Tochi is a close 3rd.
My favs (in no particular order):
Michael Sinterniklaas - Apart from sounding more 19-21 years old (in my opinion) throughout, I really liked the intensity and he had a few great one liners on occasion (the only downside to this portrayal is the first half of 2003 series season 4; fans will know WHY)
Jason Biggs - I cannot remember laughing so hard at Leo! This dorky incarnation is cute, funny, but at the same time, kicks ass! Not to mention, sounds and feels like a teenager the 2003 Leo didn't. I will miss him
Dominic Contrambone - I admit I miss Biggs, but I never understood all the hate and backlash for his replacement. It's not the same, but I gotta give the guy credit for doing a pretty good impression
Seth Green - I don't understand the hate for this one either. Still, I think Green does a nice job at portraying Leo with more intensity and showing his growth from recovery (plus, the in-episode joke towards the voice change was HILARIOUS)
Jason Griffiths - What can I say? JASON GRIFFITHS IS AWESOME!
Dan Green - Dan Green is amazing and one of my all time favorite VA. He did okay as Leo here, but I'll give him a shout out for his other TMNT roles, such as Mortu, Commander Mozar, and Mephos.
Johnny Knoxville - I dunno, I just like it :)

First has got to be Johnny Knoxville! Sounds most like the perfect Leo. Seth green, and James Arnold Taylor are a close second, followed by Sinterniklaas, Catrambone, and Whyte. Jason Biggs was a decent one, but didn't quite make it.
Even though I love Michael Sinterniklaas's Leo the best, along with the Jason Griffith and the whole 2003 series in general, I am amazed at how little love there is for Brian Tochi! His voice was perfect for Leo in the movie.

I like Green better, I didn't even know the reason he got fired until I watched this video, I thought his voice change to show that he had change, That he was rougher and badass now. If Jason was was the better voice, he deserved to have the job more then Green does, Why should he be punished for Nickelodeon messing up, They linked his account, Not him, As long as he is not in-sighting violence, He should be able to say what ever he wants and keep his job.

Brian Tochi is the best for me
There's some quality in Cam Clarke's voice that Michael Sinterniklaas either has naturally or managed to somehow capture without doing an impression of the same voice. They don't sound the same, but they have something in common vocally that I can't quite describe.
Dominic Catrambone sounds to me like a blend of Jason Biggs and Scott Whyte. The similarity to Biggs makes sense, since he was filling in for him.
Michael Dobson (Next Mutation Leo) should probably have been playing Mikey. He had that raspiness that's usually Mikey's thing, which Mikey didn't have on that show.

3:40 when I was a little kid watching season 3 I KNEW something was up to Leo's voice (that's when I didn't know about voice actors) But technically it was a different person that also sound like leo.
2003 ! My childhood was with 2003 TMNT! I so much love them and for me they are the best turtles forever!
I grew up with the original 1987-turtles, but I have to say.. Michael Sinterniklaas just nailed it, he will always be my ultimate Leonardo. That Dobson-guy reminded me of Mikey. ^^
And Seth Green.... aaah... you know, I don't really want to rant on Seth Green cause he is just a voice actor trying to do his job the best he can. And I really like his work.
But having said that, I am not feeling the Leonardo-vibe from him. And this has nothing to do with not wanting to give him a chance, just like it wasn't about not wanting to give Jason Biggs a chance.... and let me tell you, I liked Jason Biggs as Leo, cause he just had the perfect voice for it, his voice felt genuine; that collected straight-forward leader.
With Seth Green its... its nothing personal, its just....... I hear Joker, I see Joker.... I'm half expecting the Normandy to come around and pick up Leo; hell he's already bordering on being a paraplegic in the first half of the third season, I'm just waiting for someone to explain that he has brittle-bone disease as well.
All kidding and personal past experiences aside, its still difficult to connect Green's voice to Leonardo; he just has a very specific voice that, I'm sorry to say, works best when its type-cast. Maybe it will eventually grow on me and maybe, MAYBE I would have gone easier on him if he had been Leonardo from the start in this version of TMNT (switching voice-actors after an X amount of seasons have passed is just retarded in ANY show), but I remain sort of skeptic. I wish him the best of luck and will hope for the best.

Green's voice unfortunately put me off of the 2012 show, while I was open to give him a chance, he has a way too recognisable voice for that role, especially coming into it 2 seasons deep and while I applaud the reason for the voice change being that Leo got jacked up in the last season was imaginative, I don't feel it warrant for such a fairly drastic change to Greens gritty vocal range.

tbh I really like the Johnny Knoxville version. I don't know how to describe it, but it's something about his voice that just kinda fits Leo. I mean, Leo is a teenager and Johnny managed to make Leo sound both mature and powerful, yet it wasn't too serious.
