That is a beautiful bag. I’m still new to leather craft but I want to get my hands on a WWII 1940s mail bag and pattern my own bag after it, but I don’t want to spend that kind of money. I’m going to make mine without the carry handle like the originals, and without the front pleat the original bags have. I don’t like them. I love the latch you used. How does it work? I’ve never used one like that.

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I am also thinking about making a similar bag using solid copper or brass saddle rivets that require peening. However, in my research, I see many similar bags employing what some people are calling solid-brass double-capped industrial-strength rivets. This sounds enticing, but I'm not sure such a thing actually exists. My understanding is that all solid-brass double-capped rivets have hollow posts, and that solid-brass for these rivets merely means that rivets are 100% brass, not plated, but also not 100% solid.

Hi Harry, i've just subscribed after stumbling on one of your videos whilst looking for information on industrial sewing machines. May I ask what is the name of the cylinder machine you are using or one that you would recommend please? I know you mentioned in another video that one machine can't do everything but i'm hoping to get one as flexible as possible. I love what you did today with your bags and if I can find a machine to do that as well as recycled coat leather for bags I would be a happy bunny. PS do you sell machines?

annuk03 It has needle feed which is pretty essential....I also tried an Adler but preferred this one and have no regrets....it is not as robust as a Juki original but seems perfectly up to the job for pin accurate stitching.

I don't need an industrial machine I know, but I've wanted one for many years and feel ready to move on from my 201k. I have found a Sunstar on ebay that is compound walking foot. Never heard of them so will investigate but it does look similar to yours. I'm all fired up and ready to sew now :)
