calling miitopia a sequel to tomodachi life is so unfair to both games cause theyre two totally different games and if you go into one thinking it will be the other you wont have a good time since the only real thing that links them is the miis but everything else is so different. i understand why people put them together so often but it really takes away from both doing that
i agree. the only thing really connecting them is their humor, that they use miis, and the in universe references to tomodachi life in miitopia. but fundamentally they're completely different games, and the fact that miitopia has an actual storyline with characters who's personalities cannot be influenced by you and that the miitopia miis have a lot more agency than tomodachi miis already puts them in completely different ball parks.
@@cherryjasper1728 another thing connecting (literally) the two games together is the fact that (in technicality) you can directly import Miis from your save file of Tomodachi Life to Miitopia, that used to be an option on the 3DS

Yeah I remember watching the direct sometime two semesters ago I'm pretty sure, and seeing the live chatbox, literally, every comment was mentioning Tomodachi Life 2. It was nuts.
You're really underselling this game's StreetPass functionality. When one of your travelers goes to another island via StreetPass they can then get passed along *again* when that player StreePasses someone else, which can continue indefinitely. But what makes it *really* cool is that you can get letters from your travelers via SpotPass. So you could send off a traveler, and then one year later get a letter from them letting you know they're currently in another country! It's really cool to know that your traveler has chained enough SreetPasses to end up somewhere totally different. That's not to mention how cool it is to receive travelers from other regions as well.
getting travelers also lets you get new clothes and special foods! at the beginning of the game you get an "export" item, that when a traveler visits a new island, will bring to the island's "import wear" shop. while taking care of travelers they can also offer you special foods themed around various cultures that can be bought using play coins, and feeding them to a mii will always have them react positively and give you some cute dialog about the food :) Travelers also get new uniforms depending on how well traveled they are, with the best uniform being a sparkly gold shirt. It's not a necessary function of the game unless you're insane and decide to try and 100% tomodachi life, but it's a very fun addition to the game if you are able to utilize it.
I love the chaotic nature of tomodachi life. Like in my first save of it my grandma ended up dating Jake the dog briefly and then they broke up and Jake the dog got depressed

*Fun fact:* Thanks to a Japanese magazine for Tomodachi Life, Nintendo gave us a look on their official mii designs for Mario, Zero Suit Samus, Princess Peach and Olimar.
Miitopia just has one of kind charm. Its not super complex , but fun and very light hearted. It gives me like golden age flash games energy. Definitely needs a sequel .
5:50 sounds like you didn't play much of miitopia, at least in my experience on the switch it really felt like the characters had a lot of interactions and had a continuous linear story, its basic for sure but it was just as weird and quirky as tomodachi life, all the way through the end
I played nearly to the end of the game when I was 11. I enjoyed it at that age, but looking back it’s just not as fun as tomodachi life. In tomodachi life I can enjoy the wacky interactions, while in mittopia there was less wacky mii stuff and more bland gameplay.
Yeah I get that feeling too. Me, personally. I think Miitopia is better than Tomodachi Life. Tomodachi Life is still super good but like he said after a while it gets boring Miitopia isn’t like that.
11:20 think the difference between miitopia's gay relationships and hypothetical tomodachi life options is that miitopia kinda consolidates its friendship and romance systems into one single system, one where the levels are kind of up to interpretation. while yeah, the "soulmates" relationship level in miitopia absolutely has romantic implications, it can also pass off as the two miis just being really good friends. meanwhile tomodachi life explicitly divides romance and friendship into two separate systems. there's no room for interpretation. nintendo has done cool LGBTQ+ representation stuff in recent times but i feel they tend to dance around like. explicit things in their more family friendly games. at least things that can't shown in anything but dialogue. tomodachi life with gay relationships would likely require very explicit options (such as options to choose a mii's sexuality) that nintendo might not want to add in order to appeal to as broad of an audience as possible. would love to be proven wrong though
As well as this, the explicitly romantic roles of Miitopia are still gendered and straight. You can set a female Mii to be the "Lovey-Dovey Man," but it's still clear that you're supposed to cast a male Mii for that role. Same for the Neksdor couple, and the Princess love triangle. Actually, I think the only non-party non-Traveller's Hub role without an assigned gender is the Great Sage.
Agreed, Nintendo probably doesn't want to do it because they'd have to add explicit options and it's controversial especially around the world, appealing to the small part of the world that really wants it will cause controversy, but not appealing to them will make them stir up a lot of controversy still, so there's no winning.
Yeah at the very least I wish they would just make it so romance can happen between anyone so long as they aren’t related and you can say yes or no to the relationship as usual, no sexuality option necessary
I'm surprised the old funny trivia fact about Mii usage never came up during the section about the uses of them. Specifically, I mean the bit where all of the NPC Hylians in BotW have their head and face data imported from Miis, and then translated into the BotW 3D models. And all of them actually looked really good in that game.
@ramblingngergre good thought, I gotta try that next time. When I pick up the game, there'll be like 12 fights so that'll be enough of a range maybe lol
This is so real. It needs a new one with the Miitopia remake’s Makeup feature. I’m coping so hard by just replaying Miitopia but ITS NOT THE SAME. I had a lot of fun with miitopia but it took me a long time to get over the idea that it wasn’t tomadachi life
it kinda goes without saying but Tomodachi Life 2 with miitopias switch's Mii creator would go insane! Also I think this game not having a sequel has nothing to do with the romance but more so the type of game it is makes it really hard to make a worth while sequel to it since most of the gameplay just boils down to watching miis do funny stuff
Fun facts about me! I’m the founder of a Tomodachi life speedrun category. I created marriage% aka just get two miis married as quickly as possible. Basically any% lite.
i liked miitopia. I think it was a first rpg that isn't pokemon type game, however tomodachi life is just a better use of miis.I would love a sequal/remaster/remake of the game on switch. With nintendo currently focusing on remasters/remakes before switch 2, it is a perfect time for a tomodachi life remaster/remake/sequal with more features. If we don't get a remaster/sequal/remake before the switch 2 comes out; i too will scream.
Also lesser known did you guys know Namco made a twitter-ui called AvaTwee in 2010 inwhich you made little Mii-like characters for people you followed on twitter? it was based, and someone should make one for bluesky/fediverse
there is a way to get it back through not nintendo appeasing means, but it does require you to have downloaded it at least once prior to its deletion unfortunately
I think that streetpass is a feature that is slept on, especially in recent times. I get wanting a convenient online feature to interact with other players, but Streetpass actually incentivizes social interaction, which is something people are getting less and less of, only leading to bigger problems in our society. Having some online features may be cool, but I want Streetpass to be a big part of any future installments of the Tomodachi series.
As someone who was a kid back when the first game came out, for years I've wanted to buy it and it just never happened. But I know someday I will get it for myself. Once I get a working 3ds.
I want this game so bad. After watching Vinny, Saltydkdan, and Poofesure. I've wanted this game so bad. And now i want it even more after Oneyplays started playing it. But its over $100 in most online shopping. And thats with the cartridge only! As someone whose as cheap as Eugene Krabs, it sucks! ;(
If you’re OK with using the English patch or Google translate then you can get Tomodachi collection for very cheap *or emulate it online what who said that*
I think Nintendo should keep Mii's around, they're so unique for an avatar creator, and the fact every other big console platform pretty much abandoned avatars all together makes Nintendo even more different from the others for having Mii's around still
imagine if tomodachi life 2 had the switch miitopia customization options. we would be unstoppable also i heard someone talking about tomodachi life 2 suggest a cinema building, like the music theatre, where you could make your own movie and that is just perfect. imagine the memes you could make with that
The best part of Tomodachi Life was telling your friend that they're currently in a love triangle with Bowser and Obama lol. I think it would sell really well with today's demand.
When it comes to Tomodachi Life after you've seen it all (I've been playing for seven years), it's all about checking on your islanders once or twice a day and sometimes you get really lucky and the entire dynamic of your island shifts because a couple may get divorced or five different fights are going on simultaneously.
Finally this guy gets me. Seriously though I need another Tomodachi Life game where I can check in daily on my citizens, discover new foods/clothes/rooms, and play games with them... It's so charming and also really screams "This game was made in Japan" in an endearing way. With a sequel I would love more of the same, with emphasis on the more.
Im just hoping both that nintendo ends up leaning back into miis for their branding and that tomadachi life 2 is a launch title for the switch 2... im delusional but im ready
4:10 - Damn, I can't believe the guy who had a whole Christmas special titled "Not an RPG Guy"-complete with a musical number about the reasons he doesn't like them-would end up not liking an RPG 😔 Although in fairness, Miitopia isn't really my cup of tea either, but that's simply because I'm certifiably Not a Fan of RPGs where you don't have direct control of party members in battle Is it technically realistic to how RPG fights would actually go, where only you can make your own decisions and likewise for your party members? Sure, but I also don't care, if I'm playing an RPG, I like being able to actually have a concrete plan in a battle and that usually requires having control of every party member
Another suggestion for Tomodachi Life 2 Suggestion, you can suggest for a Mii to meet another Mii or date another Mii. They will meet or date, it can go well, it can go poorly. They could get married or loathe each other. It’s a tiny bit of player control that still leaves it in the hands of the Miis
honestly the lack of gay marriage is a huge part of why i haven't gone back to Tomodachi Life despite always talking so fondly about it and wanting another game-I *want* to make the Miis of my girlfriend and I kiss and say weird shit to one another in those creepy robot voices. but nintendo said we're not real ig ig
I think the biggest reason we havent gotten a sequel is because of the QR code system. Obviously they could get around that by using codes to search for Miis to keep the element of surprise as to who you're gonna get, because I think that was also part of the fun of Tomodachi Life - having random QR codes and not knowing who's gonna show up. Of course another potential reason to not make a sequel is because the whole "gay relationships" thing in Miitopia got them an M rating in Russia, they maybe don't want that again I guess.
calling miitopia a sequel to tomodachi life is so unfair to both games cause theyre two totally different games and if you go into one thinking it will be the other you wont have a good time since the only real thing that links them is the miis but everything else is so different. i understand why people put them together so often but it really takes away from both doing that

i think there’s no point of getting rid of miis. they’ve already become iconic part of nintendo consoles at this point. hope we’ll get more games implementing ‘em in the future.
You are truly Scott's enemy
Nah, you're getting Switch Sports instead...
i am also a Miitopia & Wii Party defender
The Switch version kind of is a sequel to the OG 3DS Miitopia
There's a lot more personalization choices there
5:50 sounds like you didn't play much of miitopia, at least in my experience on the switch it really felt like the characters had a lot of interactions and had a continuous linear story, its basic for sure but it was just as weird and quirky as tomodachi life, all the way through the end
Eh I REALLY like Miitopia but saying that it's as weird as Tomodachi Life is a bit of a stretch imo
For anyone interested, Tomodachi Collection NDS has a partial english fan patch available online.
Thank you, I’m going to check it out
I’ve been playing my copy for 3 years!! It actually is fun
Bro probably thinks The Sims isnt played by children😂😂
Agreed, Nintendo probably doesn't want to do it because they'd have to add explicit options and it's controversial especially around the world, appealing to the small part of the world that really wants it will cause controversy, but not appealing to them will make them stir up a lot of controversy still, so there's no winning.
Yeah at the very least I wish they would just make it so romance can happen between anyone so long as they aren’t related and you can say yes or no to the relationship as usual, no sexuality option necessary
@@scaleonkhan183 I can still see Nintendo getting lots of complaints about that. I don't think there's any winning
I didn't even notice they were Mii faces until I saw someone mention it, they do fit surprisingly well
That's how you know it was a Wii U game.
The biggest pain coming back to this game is now half of my islanders are fighting and over half of them don't make up... ugh
Just an idea that I haven't tested yet. When they argue, make the person with the lesser opinion of the other apologise.
I had a lot of fun with miitopia but it took me a long time to get over the idea that it wasn’t tomadachi life
Scott not liking an RPG? No way!
Why Don't He Play Them? lol
@@RisingJayBecause he’s not an rpg guy
it kinda goes without saying but Tomodachi Life 2 with miitopias switch's Mii creator would go insane! Also I think this game not having a sequel has nothing to do with the romance but more so the type of game it is makes it really hard to make a worth while sequel to it since most of the gameplay just boils down to watching miis do funny stuff
I simply can not get over the fact that Scott has a Tomodachi Life profile where he has inserted all of the characters from the Scott the Woz channel.
I'm playing Tomodachi Life right now, I just gave your Mii a Panini.
power move
Even for Miitopia, Scott is Not an RPG Guy 😭
The fact we never got one on Switch is crazy, ESPECIALLY after the Miitopia Port. Praying for Switch 2.
I am Miitopia and Wii Party's biggest defender. If no one is praising those games assume I am gone from this world
The only Nintendo game where you can have your Mii’s curse.
You get another Tomodachi Life. It only uses the characters from Switch Sports. The Monkey's Paw curls.
Fun facts about me! I’m the founder of a Tomodachi life speedrun category. I created marriage% aka just get two miis married as quickly as possible. Basically any% lite.
Wait that’s a thing?!? Dude I’d totally run that haha
Any% is have a child, right?
@ yeah it is
@@jacksonlovesnintendo go for it! Current world record sits at around 7 minutes, it’s totally beatable
cool
Cutting straight to the chase? I approve!
Scott's disdain for Miitopia is making me want to buy and play it.
i liked miitopia.
Scott is one of the girls for this one
And one of the boys. Tomodachi Life is appreciated by all.
he really is one of the us 🥲
- gay marriage requester
What’s amusing about 2:26 is that I can totally see (and hear) Joe saying that in character
And it’s about a Pumpkin Pie outbreak too, He had a pumpkin patch at one point lol
me with rhythm heaven
Me with both
i remember giving a high school friend my copy of Miitopia after i finished it 100%
I wonder what the copy is up to now
the miitopia segment was kinda crazy we get u don’t like rpgs scott 😭 miitopia is so fun cmon
the humour in tomodachi life is so distinct, its like how the old lego games have a specific style of humour
these cowards won't bring back miitomo
Also lesser known did you guys know Namco made a twitter-ui called AvaTwee in 2010 inwhich you made little Mii-like characters for people you followed on twitter? it was based, and someone should make one for bluesky/fediverse
there is a way to get it back through not nintendo appeasing means, but it does require you to have downloaded it at least once prior to its deletion unfortunately
@@cherryjasper1728 I've recently been looking into this, I want to make mii shitposts again so bad lmaooo
Tomodachi life is very charming.
Like the limited 3D they used for Pokemon Black and White
I think that streetpass is a feature that is slept on, especially in recent times. I get wanting a convenient online feature to interact with other players, but Streetpass actually incentivizes social interaction, which is something people are getting less and less of, only leading to bigger problems in our society. Having some online features may be cool, but I want Streetpass to be a big part of any future installments of the Tomodachi series.
Can you imagine the power a new tomodachi life would have on switch 😭 it would be so much fun, I really hope they pursue it
Guys, we're getting a Nintendo Switch 2 direct in april, and they might show games...
*There's still a chance*
As someone who was a kid back when the first game came out, for years I've wanted to buy it and it just never happened. But I know someday I will get it for myself. Once I get a working 3ds.
If they added Tomodachi life sequel with better AI, more options, locations, etc. the game would genuinely sky rocket
I want this game so bad. After watching Vinny, Saltydkdan, and Poofesure. I've wanted this game so bad. And now i want it even more after Oneyplays started playing it. But its over $100 in most online shopping. And thats with the cartridge only! As someone whose as cheap as Eugene Krabs, it sucks! ;(
Just hack your 3DS and use hShop?
If you’re OK with using the English patch or Google translate then you can get Tomodachi collection for very cheap *or emulate it online what who said that*
@@GlitteringChesh Did my Emulation comment get deleted? Jesus...
if you don't mind piracy you can always hack your 3ds and use hshop
the eshop has shut down so you're not taking income away from anyone if you find another way to play it
I don’t own a 2DS, I own a Tomodachi Device.
I think Nintendo should keep Mii's around, they're so unique for an avatar creator, and the fact every other big console platform pretty much abandoned avatars all together makes Nintendo even more different from the others for having Mii's around still
Bro sounded like the L4D2 hunter
tomodachi life was like my sims growing up, I NEED another game!!!!
this is the least surprising intro I've ever seen. we all knew that would happen
9:52 scott says sans
9:56 is when he says it, actually
@jerrysgardentractorsengine2243 Sans pp
Arguably one of the best video titles in the whole channel
imagine if tomodachi life 2 had the switch miitopia customization options. we would be unstoppable
also i heard someone talking about tomodachi life 2 suggest a cinema building, like the music theatre, where you could make your own movie and that is just perfect. imagine the memes you could make with that
The one thing Scott didn't touch on about Miitopia is that the RPG game is kinda what the streetpass rpg was but more fleshed out as a game
The best part of Tomodachi Life was telling your friend that they're currently in a love triangle with Bowser and Obama lol. I think it would sell really well with today's demand.
0:57 I've played Tomodachi Collection before, it was fun!
All they need to do is remaster Tomodachi Life and let me use makeup and wigs from Miitopia and my soul will be purified
Tomodachi Life has the potential for SO MUCH more, it's insane. Surely they wouldn't just abandon it.
As someone who still plays on my 3DS... YES. WE NEED A TOMODACHI LIFE SEQUEL.
Never connected Tomodachi and Miitopia… Miitopia was just a longer version of StreetPass Quest.
Im just hoping both that nintendo ends up leaning back into miis for their branding and that tomadachi life 2 is a launch title for the switch 2... im delusional but im ready
mario kart 9 is a launch title 4 the switch 2, also yea, hoping that tomodachi life will come there
this is the most relatable Scott's Stash video I've ever seen
Lord. Every UA-camr I watch is talking about or playing Tomodachi Life.
I picked Miitopia back up again a couple weeks ago, and I’m proud to say, Goku and Seto Kaiba are best friends. Daft Punk is still a Nuisance.
4:10 - Damn, I can't believe the guy who had a whole Christmas special titled "Not an RPG Guy"-complete with a musical number about the reasons he doesn't like them-would end up not liking an RPG 😔
Although in fairness, Miitopia isn't really my cup of tea either, but that's simply because I'm certifiably Not a Fan of RPGs where you don't have direct control of party members in battle
Is it technically realistic to how RPG fights would actually go, where only you can make your own decisions and likewise for your party members? Sure, but I also don't care, if I'm playing an RPG, I like being able to actually have a concrete plan in a battle and that usually requires having control of every party member
Tomodachi Life is my favorite dose of insanity. Jesus confessing to Shrek but goes with Kanye West instead? Sure, who cares anymore.
M preg time🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🥰

tomodachi life > miitopia don't @ mii.
Another suggestion for Tomodachi Life 2
Suggestion, you can suggest for a Mii to meet another Mii or date another Mii. They will meet or date, it can go well, it can go poorly. They could get married or loathe each other. It’s a tiny bit of player control that still leaves it in the hands of the Miis
GENUINELY, how has there not been another one with it's numbers. There are SO MANY THINGS IT CAN ADD, AGGH
You and me both buddy. Miitopia is my 3rd favorite game of all time and since it gave me hope for more 3Ds ports, its only a matter of time
0:03 No no, you’re not being overdramatic, you’re not being dramatic *enough*, give us our Tomodachi Life or give us death papa Nintendo
honestly the lack of gay marriage is a huge part of why i haven't gone back to Tomodachi Life despite always talking so fondly about it and wanting another game-I *want* to make the Miis of my girlfriend and I kiss and say weird shit to one another in those creepy robot voices. but nintendo said we're not real ig ig
You don’t know how much power you’ll all get if Nintendo adds the makeup thing in a new or remake of Tomodachi Life.
Watch out Nintendo… Scott’s really gonna do it. He’s gonna scream…
And I will scream if there won’t be anymore Yo-kai Watch games.
theyre gonna make a sequal at the very end of the switch's life watch.
I will not accept the miitopia slander, but yes we need another tomodachi life
like can't good games co-exist?
