    I just starting learning about this wheatgrass, and I watched this video, awesome bro..... Got an idea too. First use horse and cow manure and compost and get worms in it and make your worm casting and grow off that.... then recompost and worm cast with some more manure it.......Bro you are giving me more ideas, Keep it up.

I vote with my dollar and support people who "get it". This video answered every single question you could have about their product. AND IT'S FREE to watch and learn. Mind blowing that people complain about the length of any video here. If you find something important enough you WILL find or make time to watch it..no matter the length!.

    John, you are so very passionate and informative, however, I remain unclear on the amount of water to provide to ensure the sprouts don't dry out or too much water causing mold conditions. You talked about the sprinklers briefly but never addressed how much water was provided each day. Do I need to find out through trial and error wasting my seeds?

      Nice keep it up. I think i wana grow mine in the dirt now, i just need to check if the tipe of wheat i buy is organic. I buy a 50 pound bag at a local granary for like 14 bucks wich is realy cheap but i dont know if its organic im gona have to ask him. Other wise i have to find an other sorce. They said that were these people buy there wheat u can only buy it in bulk for 2000 pounds. Thats just too much.

    • @MichaelWilsonLoveGeneration
      @MichaelWilsonLoveGeneration 9 років тому

      Be careful about the wheatberry supply. Most mold will come from the wheatberries themselves. If it's that cheap I'd reckon it's not organic. I buy from wholefoods which is $1.49 per pound. It's somewhat expensive but the yields/germination rates are amazing and the taste is flavorful. Always chose the highest quality product.

    I am considering growing wheat grass only as a source of greens to throw into my blender during the winter. I live in the NE. Would a windowsill operation 5 feet by 1 foot space be enough to keep me going? Also willing to consider other greens like kale. Which green do you recommend with productivity being most important factor???

    • @futurevideo10
      @futurevideo10 9 років тому

      Don't need sunlight to grow wheatgrass. Grow in soil is good but not necessary, completely soil-less works well too. Growing trays can be stacked several layers up to the ceiling if you want, just make sure they have breathing spaces or holes. Wheatgrass will turn darker green when put under any kind of medium light source like any regular home light fixture for a day.

He mentioned doing this for cucumber plants, and sprayed underneath the leaves as well as on top of the leaves, and into the soil. I know that he mentioned getting rid of aphids this way, so that may help with your situation. You want to double-check with your specific plants, but I think this should work for you :-)

      I don't remember where I heard it (probably on this channel) but I recall someone saying that the hard red wheat was the best tasting. On ebay, you can order from this one seller (I have not used them though) where you can get 5 pounds for not even double what you pay for 1 pound, so..... I think I'm going to do that. If I hate it, I KNOW the cats love all kinds of wheat and barley grass. Here's the link to that one listing where you can use the drop down to order as much or as little as you want. www.ebay.com/itm/191416033993?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&var=490515652302&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

    While I like a lot of what you do, John, I have an additional explanation to your criticism of hydroponically grown tomatoes. They're not crappy because they're hydro, they're crappy because the American consumer wants a terrible tomato... they don't want quality, they want a product that when sliced, fits on a hamburger, which is accomplished by feeding your tomato plants a very weak hydroponic nutrient solution. It would only cost fractions of a cent per lb for the hydro producers to create a tomato with superior flavor, shelf life, and nutrition, but the market unfortunately just doesn't want it, so growers don't do it. I believe this is why many people don't like vegetables... they're just grown for size, because that's what the market wants, leaving little room for quality produce suppliers to show their wares.

    Geez...with the fancy dancy water filtration system and all that space I don't think the average person who wants to consume wheatgrass for themselves needs to go through all this stuff. This farm in Hawaii sells the wheatgrass, that is why they are doing all this which is fine but I think most of your viewers live in an apartment or a home with some yard space. As far as the 3 ingredients...azomite, kelp and worm castings, Ann Wigmore talks about this exact same process in her book : "The Wheatgrass Book".
    Get yourself a big rubber trash can and fill with organic soil and throw a handful of earthworms in there and they mineralize the soil. That is their job. Throw your kitchen scraps in there and you have the start of a great compost pile. Soaking your seeds takes about 8-12 hours then spread them evenly over your soil with some water and let nature take it's course. There are other little details during the one week growing process but it's a cakewalk. Believe you me, I don't have a green thumb and wheatgrass is one of the easiest things to grow. www.amazon.com/Wheatgrass-Book-Maximize-Health-Vitality/dp/0895292343/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426747469&sr=8-1&keywords=the+wheatgrass+book+by+ann+wigmore

    I wish John would make these tutorial videos shorter and straight to the point. He could include all this extra info in separate clips because most of us do t have an hour to spare watching how to do one thing such as grow wheat grass. I love the content but stray away most of the time due to the video being unnecessarily long.

      Rishi Shah WOW ! He is doing a great job of interviewing and being complete. For a first time visitor or someone who is not fully experienced this type of video is PRICELESS. By that I mean its complete. Not rushed!
      Ive used wheat grass for years and I learned soil depth has its merits from this video!

      This is all FREE , helpful content that you can easily fast forward through to find what you're looking for. If you can't figure out how to fast forward , or bear to watch the entire video , than for god's sake stop whining and complaining and go to a different youtube channel.

      ZDG You make a good point, the valuable content John provides is free to us, and I'm grateful for it. It's impossible to fast forward through.
      The work-around I have had to come up with is to leave the video up and watch it in snippets as I can. Not entirely satisfactory.

    Yeah, but cows don't digest grass directly. Like almost all animals other than pigs (and humans), the grass they eat feeds the bacteria growing in their belly! And then their gut converts the bacteria to protein. Humans convert food directly to protein in a totally different process.
