man, being a kid in Philippines is so much fun. you pretty much knew everyone in the neighborhood. you tend to stay friends with your classmates for life even if you move to a different place/school. school life is not like in the US. going to different places for vacation, lots of street food. you wont go hungry if you know what you doing.
It reminds me of being a kid, and going to visit my cousins in Mexico. I always had more fun over there. Kids had a blast!
That’s like most neighborhoods to be honest, especially neighborhood where people have been living there for 40 or 50 years, like where I grew up in Richmond, California. It’s like that in a lot of black areas.

For real, I did 12 years in the Marine Corps and we are very fortunate, I have seen kids living in trash piles in Africa, hear people moaning in agony on the other side of the wall. In some countries women not allowed to vote or even leave the house, or get educated. We really are fortunate to be where we are, I wish more folks would realize that.
