My first video as Rapid Tabletop, and this first video is a very quick tutorial of how I work. More detailed ones will come in the future if there is interest for future videos.
I you like my content, please consider becoming a patreon. As a patreon you will help me grow, and of course decided what videos I'll do next.
*Note, this is my first time infront of the camera. I am mostly behind it. So I am very uncomfortable this time around. But I'll hopefully grow into it.
This opens up an entire new section of the hobby. Thank you for sharing!
No problem, mate. Love your channel as well.
Amazing, so glad you're getting videos uploaded- I could watch terrain assembly and painting videos all day!
Within 24 hours I watched all your Necromunda terrain videos. And I don't even play Necromunda. Awsome stuff. I like the 80s ambient music! Keep on!
What a talented painter you are. Very interesting to watch!
Follower here from instagram and SCR. Thank you so much for uploading this video and others. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for this. Thank you.
Thanks mate. Means a lot to hear this.
Hi Leo ! It's Figouz here. Glad to see you on UA-cam to share with us all your creativity and scenery skills !
Thanks mate! Great to see you here as well ;)
Hell yeh Leonard!! I can see this becoming big! Love the video👏🏻
Very, very, nice tutorial enjoyed watching. it got my juices flowing. Inspired me to create more in the hobby. Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words
Thank you so much, Leonard. Excellent video.
Followed your stuff on Facebook its amazing. Great to see you making videos. Your work is the gold standard.
Many thanks mate. Means a lot.
You are really talented sir!
Really loving your necromunda content
Great "first" video - everything was clear and concise; I thought you spoke well; you didn't seem nervous or searching for what you wanted to say; and it was nice to see your process for putting these tiles together. As you said, a more in-depth tutorial would be nice and it'd be great to see what paints you're using. I know the paints being used are usually listed in the PDF tutorials from Patreon, but maybe throw them up on screen as you use them (see Duncan Rhodes' videos for a good example). Looking forward to the next video!
I finally got 3 out of my 5 boxes of tiles to start playing around with some of your techniques and ideas over the Christmas break. Looking forward to it. I'm still torn whether I want to go with a dark rusty/brown theme (see Miniature Gaming Montage's channel for an example) or a lighter scheme like yours. The lighter scheme is nice because it allows for a wider range of contrasts and variations in colours, things like rust, dirt/grit, etc show up more clearly. But I still wonder if it is too "bright" for what I'm looking for. I want a consistent theme though, so need to make a decision lol.
Many thanks for the good comments mate. I acctually did leave out a lot of the colors used and things like that for future videos. But in hindsight I could have just added it here as well. I am looking into some more editing in future videos when its more focused on on section of the pice. So for example painting, I will cut to an image with the paints used, then back to the video.
I
ll take a look at Duncans videos as well, and see what I can pick up.
@@MrLeonarddime for me it would have just been enough if said the name of the paint instead of just „a contrast paint“ editing is a lot of work..
@@EmVeediEs thing is. Saying contrast paint without planning to say it was really hard for me. Haha. I had to retake that recording 6 times. Couldn’t say contrast.... to nervous?
Construct, combtrast, bombstruct... you name it. I couldn’t utter the word.
@@MrLeonarddime I’m camera shy as well and sometimes find myself searching for words too ... so I know what you’re talking about. With that said you sounded fine and presented everything well, so I’d try not to let it bug you so much ... easier said than done right :)
Great to finally see you on youtube, been following you for quite some time over on facebook and instagram and I really love what you're doing with terrain =)
Thanks a lot mate. Really means a lot to hear.
Awesome Work Leonard! Happy to see your videos, very inspiring (I follow you on instagram and on the sumpcity radio podcast). Keep up the good work!
Excellent. You said 'the client' and 'for John Blanche'. He isn't the client is he?
Yes he is the client of this set in the video.
@@MrLeonarddime speechless
Great work!
Love the Necromunda videos! Lots of inspiration, gotten a sub and patreon subscriber from me :)
Thanks you!
Great workshop, I knew the Mekworkshop would have a use one day. Just out of interest, why do you paint the panels brown before you paint them off white? You apply an opaque coat but maybe the video doesn't catch the brown underneath?
Yea, it is as you say, its not showing through the video the slight transparency. Also, I paint if brown first so the edges or the corners have a brown shade. I don't paint white all the way out. Not sure if shows in the video.
At first I was like “John Hodgman” is into necromunda!
Great video.just subscribed. Is what you are calling structure paint the texture paste ?
Its called Texture Acrylic from the Vallejo range. Usually found under the category 'Mud'
I really like the result, especialy because many people think they need all kinds of special stuff to get to a good looking miniature/ piece of terrain in the end!
Speaking of fancy stuff, did you consider using oil washes for the weathering? because thats something I really liked when I started using it, because it gives even better result without needing more work at all! Allthough I admit, using more or less only GW products makes your aproach quite relatable for a lot of people, especialy newer ones in the hobby!
Btw I really like your Van Saar Gang,! Any Chance for close ups of the models anywhere?
Thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it.
Oils I have started to use. And will move into that more and more. But as you say. Staying to one brand makes it easier for new hobby players and more relatable.
The van Saar have some close ups at my Instagram account rapid_tabletop
@@MrLeonarddime Yeah thank you, already found them and heaped a pile of likes over your head^^
Awesome Channel!
Great stuff and loving this and enjoying these videos. Keep them coming. May have missed and apologies if have done, but we're are the tiles you are using from?
So sorry for the late reply. Been some hectic times. The tiles are from Games Workshop. Zone Mortalis: Floor tiles
Awesome my friend!!
Thanks. Editing was a thing that I had to relearn. Was some time ago. But it can only get better and looking forward to do more out of personal interest.
Awesome Work! I am really impressed. It is really inspiring. Do you also have done/ will do a video painting the necromunda bases which fits to your realm of battle board?
I can do one of course in the future. But which bases do mean exactly. Send link and I'll take a look at it. But I will put priority on my Patreons requests on videos. Patreons are the ones deciding what videos I shall make
@@MrLeonarddime I mean the scenic "necromunda" bases games workshop sells with their gangs. These bases fit to the necromunda tiles (www.games-workshop.com/de-DE/Necromunda-25mm-Bases-2017)
@@peterbruckner2620 ah ok. Well once my Patreons decide for a video that includes painting a Necromunda miniature I'll include the base painting as well.
I will from now on (the I think) let the Patreon supporters guide my future videos.
I've been following your stuff on Instagram for a while now. Really impressive... especially your composition. I do have a question about your airbrush settings: Orifice size? PSI/Bar? Thanks, and keep up the great work! Can't wait for your next video.
Thanks for following mate. I am using 0.2mm for bascoating, but I think that orifice is damaged, so it is probably closer to 0.3 or 0.4mm. For detailing after base coating I use 0.15mm needle. The PSI is hard to say. Because I have found that my two airbrushes connected to the same compressor seem to give out different pressure. But, for my H&S (detail) I set the PSI to 1.8-2.2 PSI. Depending on how close I need to get to the object I am painting.
What is the advantage of using two heights as base layer?
It interacts with the rest of the Games Workshop terrain range. They are based on 5" height.
You mention Structure Paint, but I can't seem to find any Vallejo paint/product with that exact name. Does it have a different name perhaps?
What Vallejo texture are you painting on after building?
Impressive
Second!
And more important, where do i find such an turn table?!
Great video! Like your voice in this one!
Thanks mate. Question... you don't like my voice normally then?
Which contrasts did you use for the metallics??
For the bronz effect I use Gore-grunta Fur. For gold I can use a larger range depending on the hue I want. Aggaros Dunes is one of my favorite ones, but scelton horde and Snakebite leather are really great as well.
For darker metals, I use Basilicanum Grey and diliute it with some medium for desired effect.
What kit is the workshop table from?
Hail all
FIRST
Yikes! So expensive. The plastic is one thing but using citadel contrast and shades on terrain is absolutely nuts in my opinion. Use oils and spirits for crying out loud.
Love that you got the UA-cam channel going. You are the only person I follow on Patreon, and it’s worth every penny.
For the next painting video you do, I would like to get a small pop-up in the corner with the name and brand of the colours you’re using. I know that might be hard to do, but it makes it easier for copycats like me 😋
Thank you for your support and suggestion.
A frame in frame as you mention with the paint used is not hard to do. I’ll make that happen. Thanks.
