    The rubberband is a dumb idea, when i started fitness i barely could do chinups, what i did was a) get a portable door way chinup bar b) used a chair to help assist my legs. Then i built up to higher reps

    I feel like I should point out that any scapular movement has nothing to do with the lats. The lats have no distal or proximal insertions anywhere on the scapula. The lats originate at the sacrum, ilium, the spinous processes of T7-L5 vertebra, and the last four ribs. They insert at the bicipital groove on the humerus. Therefore, when in the gym and working on your lats, the main anatomical movements you need to be executing are adduction (bringing appendage closer to the body) and hyper-extension (moving appendage behind the body) of the humerus (upper arm bone).

      Jeremy Winkler scapular movements are all mid and lower traps correct?

    • @jeremywinkler8275
      @jeremywinkler8275 7 років тому +1

      Chase Grengs mid/lower/upper traps, rhomboids, and levator scapulae.

    • @Only.Gameplay
      @Only.Gameplay 6 років тому

      thank you good sir, i still feel greater pump and stimulus when retracting the scapula, even if its not directly attached

    • @jeremywinkler8275
      @jeremywinkler8275 6 років тому +1

      Nicola D'Amico That's likely because when performing, say a row of some kind, when you pull your humerus back far enough to where your shoulders begin to also move backwards, your traps and rhomboids will likely kick in, in order to retract your scapulae to allow for further shoulder and humerus extension. So when you do retract your scapulae in a rowing movement, for example, it likely is allowing for further extension of the humerus which in turn allows for a greater contraction of the lats.

    Spotting someone at pulls ups by the legs can get dangerous. If they let go of the bar and you are pushing up to much it cause their body to go the wrong way possibly hitting their head on the floor. Safe way is to put your hand on their lower back and lift up through there.

  • @steveb9843

  • @gabevanpopta7632

    Hi steve. A tip for pull up: my physical therapist told me if you have your thumb above the bar you engage more rear delt and if you have it under the bar you engage more the lats. That could be a reason your lats aren't as wide as they could've been. Love you steve!
