  • In this video I refinish a mid century desk. I found the desk in a thrift store for $5. I also replace the laminate top with new walnut veneer.

    Wow! What an amazing restoration. It's nice to see someone that actually knows what the word "restore" means. It doesn't mean slap some chalk paint on it, it means to bring it back to its original finish. Bravo!

      That was my first thought, so many of these videos seem to involve chalk painting over lovely wood. Lovely to see someone letting the wood shine through.

    • @MrAngrybassist
      @MrAngrybassist 5 років тому +9

      Who would do that, honestly? You paint over antique furniture just like you said with chalk paint and it significantly lowers the value, but if you stain and seal it instead it significantly increases its value. Furthermore, why the hell would anyone ever cover up an attractive woodgrain like that with flat paint? It's really, really stupid.

Excellent camera work and editing as well. You illustrated techniques which can be used by the rest of us novice restorers on classic mid century designs and adapted to other wood furniture.
