Alexander X that’s not how it works buddy. Don’t follow your own advice before you spend a few nights in jail biting into your pillow cause your celly got lonely.
they never claimed that him not having a facebook was suspicious. they were just going to use it to see if he was lying about his name. the fact that he saw a police car and ran the other way, hesitated when saying his "own name", continued to lie about who he was even with contradicting photos being shown to him and lying about the date he was "already arrested" was the suspicious part.
I doubt that's an illegal technique but I could be wrong. I mean they're allowed to lie when interrogating you at the station, they're allowed to say that your buddy snitched on you even if he didn't in order to try to get you to snitch on HIM. And they'll do the same thing with him in regards to you as well. Using deceit and lies to get more information towards the truth I just have a feeling isn't illegal but then again I am not a lawyer or a criminal justice major either. Because it's legal in other interrogative fashions though I think it's fair game. And yeah it was pretty smart I agree ... especially if it is a legal, fair move after all.
Well #1 I know I have a Facebook but not only do I not know the username of it but I know I deleted my last name on the account it to obscure my identity so it can't even be used to prove what my name is, along with any other of my socailmedias
@@jerrylanglois7892 I'm not from the US, so could be wrong, but my understanding is that in the Land of the Free if you refuse to provide name and address and DOB when asked by an officer, that's an arrestable offence. Maybe I'm thinking of Canada. Either way I'm too lazy to search it.
Never talk to the cops when they ask you anything on the fly....remember you have the right to remain silent anything you say can and will be held/used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you can't afford one, one will be provided for you.
Or if you're not a criminal and you're not doing anything wrong just tell them your name... Makes a 2 minute stop into 20 minutes and a possible fun night in jail. Just don't break the law
You also have a right to be sent to jail for impeding an investigation. The fifth amendment only applies to court cases, it doesn’t apply to those questions. You have a right to remain silent when asked but police officers have the authority to arrest you for impeding an investigation if you’re suspected of a crime and decide that you’re not going to talk. They’ll find out who you are either way. Cooperating is easiest because at least then the police will give you some leniency. Don’t encourage people to make bad decisions. Easiest thing to do: don’t break the law and don’t act like you’re guilty of breaking the law. If police ask you for a name, give them your proper name. Lying to them will only add another charge to your docket once they find out you’re lying.
He's going to jail and he has a warrant either way but yeah, he's even dumber for opening his mouth and lying, just possibly adding another charge with the warrant.

Never tell a cop who you are unless they can specifically articulate a crime that you have, are or are going to commit a crime. They can't just walk up and ask for your name because you have a backpack on.
They can't use "being suspicious" as cause for a stop. The courts have ruled that whats suspicious is different for each person. Whats suspicious to some is not for others. So the courts ruled that to prevent each person opinions, preferences or biases to be the basis for a stop.
@@_boof Washington is not a stop and Identify state, you do not have to tell them anything about who you are or provide ID unless you are arrested, even if they suspect you have committed a crime they have no legal standing to ask for I.D.
stay triggered snowflakes Yeah, most people use fake names, or nicknames. Even if you're dumb enough to use your real name, you'll probably shorten it(michael goes to mike or mick, robert to Bobby, etc.).
"I am being detained?" "Yes I am detaining you for suspicion of vehicle prowling, the businesses in these areas have been burglarized and they're closed right now so I'm detaining you while I investigate why you're on this property." If the police see suspicious behavior that they can articulate they are allowed to detain the suspect and pat down the individual for weapons(See Terry v. Ohio) and conduct a brief investigation. This guy could have avoided ID'ing himself and getting in any trouble if he didn't lie, but since he lied it opened up a new can of worms. The second he gave a false name to the police he committed a crime.
@@Tender_vigilante Not always. Depends on the state, the circumstances, and the officer's discretion. Even if an officer illegally detains or arrests you, you don't have a legal right to resist.
When cops ask have you ever been arrested the real question should be have you ever been CONVICTED of a crime! Anyone can be arrested for just about anything but once you get an attorney chances of getting convicted are very slim!
*This is what you say to cops* Cop- "what are you doing?/"why did I pull you over?"/"Hey come here for a minute!" *YOU* "I'm not discussing my day, or evening sir/ mam" Cop- *proceeds with pressuring you* *YOU SAY* "I'm not discussing my day or evening OFFICER." "Am I being detained, or am I free to go?" *than in most cases you'll be free to go, but if detained you comply and say "I INVOKE THE 5TH!" *than you shut the F*** up* don't saying ANYTHING. This is your natural right. The 5th amendment. Always comply with the officer. Unless he/she is questioning you...
This is true. Also as soon as you're arrested you say nothing except you'd like to have a lawyer present. A simple "I really do respect you and I respect law enforcement but I don't answer any questions without a lawyer present. I'm sorry, I hope you understand" goes a really long way. Everything after that is "I understand, but I don't answer questions without a lawyer present" Also, remember if you are in your home, you don't have to answer the door. No matter how hard they knock and yell "police open up!" etc there is no law that you have to go to the door and open it. Just stay inside and they will leave, they need a search warrant to enter unless you do something stupid like open the door for them voluntarily.
you have to present your identity when asked and if you don't have ID or refuse to show it and refuse to tell them your name DOB SSN etc... they can bring you into the station for fingerprints. also some states have statutes that makes it a crime to refuse identifying yourself to an officer.... the 5th amendment means you do not have to say anything that will self incriminate. identifying yourself is not incriminating yourself so is not protected... so be smart and tell em who you are. lying about your identity is also a crime.

All he had to do was refuse to identify himself and shut up and he'd have walked home that night.
Edit: comments concluded it depends on the State. In some yes, others no
Exactly all becuz of no id. Which was a result getting stopped for looking "suspicious" lol
If a cop stops you, you HAVE to identify yourself. No choice.
@@Ziotic only if you are the driver of a vehicle. Walking on a street you do not because there is no legal requirement to carry identification unless you are operating a motor vehicle. Hence drivers license not walking license.
@Walking Dead Baptist Church lmao If a cop ask to identify yourself you literally have to you have no choice and if you don't they can arrest you. Know your facts little one. :)
Alexander X that’s not how it works buddy. Don’t follow your own advice before you spend a few nights in jail biting into your pillow cause your celly got lonely.
I've never had a Facebook page 😳
I didn't know that was suspicious...
Same
I've had one... 10 years ago.
Reason he asked for his FB was so he can fact check him on his name. I thought that was pretty obvious? Lol
thought I was the only one haha Facebook nothin but Drama No one needs lol
they never claimed that him not having a facebook was suspicious. they were just going to use it to see if he was lying about his name. the fact that he saw a police car and ran the other way, hesitated when saying his "own name", continued to lie about who he was even with contradicting photos being shown to him and lying about the date he was "already arrested" was the suspicious part.
that is a smart move by the officers.
conceptcs how
Billy Smith when the cop asked the suspect when he took the photo.
Very illegal as well
I doubt that's an illegal technique but I could be wrong.
It’s completely legal for cops to lie like that
Whenever they "can't remember" their social you know they're lying.
Not true at all
I don't know mines
I swear I don't know mine😂
I don't remember
Well #1 I know I have a Facebook but not only do I not know the username of it but I know I deleted my last name on the account it to obscure my identity so it can't even be used to prove what my name is, along with any other of my socailmedias
Really they used Facebook to look up a dud I’m dead 😵
One more reason I don't have facebook
Yep, and it's not just cops, employers also use FB to look at potential hires.
They always do. They have to see your ideology and what you share especially if you are a wanted criminal or a killer.
These cops were pretty tricky. Kudos.
He allowed them to be tricky. Remaining silent would've nullified the '' trickiness ''.
@@jerrylanglois7892 I'm not from the US, so could be wrong, but my understanding is that in the Land of the Free if you refuse to provide name and address and DOB when asked by an officer, that's an arrestable offence.

Acting weird aint breaking the law
It's only when you are arrested

SoCal Transportation Spotter I know it's a shame that all the cop suckers on here are fine with people's rights being violated.
So the courts ruled that to prevent each person opinions, preferences or biases to be the basis for a stop.
i love america And if he wasn't afraid of the unconstitutional arrest for a fake crime, he never would have lied.
You can’t stop someone for being weird and call it suspicion. That’s bs and not legal
Ur being sarcastic right?
Michele Rosae no lmao it was unconstitutional. Even though they got the right guy they executed his arrest entirely wrong.
So if you’re not doing anything wrong, why not be honest about your credentials? When you have something to hide, its obvious af dude.

Yeah, most people use fake names, or nicknames.
Even if you're dumb enough to use your real name, you'll probably shorten it(michael goes to mike or mick, robert to Bobby, etc.).
Cop: Who are you? You’re under arrest for lying. 💀😂
He should have ask them “if he was being detained”, when they said no! he should of walked away.😂 know your rights budddy.
"I am being detained?"
"Yes I am detaining you for suspicion of vehicle prowling, the businesses in these areas have been burglarized and they're closed right now so I'm detaining you while I investigate why you're on this property."
If the police see suspicious behavior that they can articulate they are allowed to detain the suspect and pat down the individual for weapons(See Terry v. Ohio) and conduct a brief investigation. This guy could have avoided ID'ing himself and getting in any trouble if he didn't lie, but since he lied it opened up a new can of worms. The second he gave a false name to the police he committed a crime.
and you should learn the law. smh
Crenshaw Dapple he could’ve denied everything and walked away
It doesn’t work like that. He was seen as suspicious, and if you’re suspicious the cops can investigate you. It’s just like that lol
“We might give you one for free tonight” 😂😂😂😂😂
Told me I should come and get a new photo 🤣🤣🤣
*This is what you say to cops*
Cop- "what are you doing?/"why did I pull you over?"/"Hey come here for a minute!"
*YOU* "I'm not discussing my day, or evening sir/ mam"
Cop- *proceeds with pressuring you*
*YOU SAY* "I'm not discussing my day or evening OFFICER."
"Am I being detained, or am I free to go?"
*than in most cases you'll be free to go, but if detained you comply and say "I INVOKE THE 5TH!" *than you shut the F*** up* don't saying ANYTHING.
Everything after that is "I understand, but I don't answer questions without a lawyer present"
Also, remember if you are in your home, you don't have to answer the door. No matter how hard they knock and yell "police open up!" etc there is no law that you have to go to the door and open it. Just stay inside and they will leave, they need a search warrant to enter unless you do something stupid like open the door for them voluntarily.
@@bobbywhite1645absolutely!! Thanks for sharing ✊👍👍
you have to present your identity when asked and if you don't have ID or refuse to show it and refuse to tell them your name DOB SSN etc... they can bring you into the station for fingerprints. also some states have statutes that makes it a crime to refuse identifying yourself to an officer....
the 5th amendment means you do not have to say anything that will self incriminate.
identifying yourself is not incriminating yourself so is not protected... so be smart and tell em who you are. lying about your identity is also a crime.
May be if you don't stir thier suspicion by dodging them in the first place
