@itsbinc5119 They do that to have a constant view of the border, from above, so that they can keep an eye on border crossings. Additionally, it lets any hikers who are in the area a clear indication of the border so no "I just wandered into another country by accident" mistakes are made.
The first one is actually Galicia Spain to be fair! Very very close to Portugal though! Also, I’m from Massachusetts so I knew immediately that it was Cape Cod! That area of Massachusetts is not very urban as you pointed out, but there are some very beautiful shots there! My family and I used to vacation around there!
Glad you enjoyed it, I thought this would be a good match for satellite mode. It has unofficial coverage because many lighthouses are very remote and I'd only have half the number if I stuck to official-only. And yes it is worldwide, there are even some in Australia; but by sheer number Europe dominates, though I'm surprised you didn't get a Japan round.
As usual played from the ground. That one cape lighthouse was trekker with poor quality so couldn't read anything or see any road/car info - just had to go from the vibes of the lighthouse buildings and the flora... ended up just up the coast from it. And that last one was crazy tough: had the country in moments, got the right area but couldn't pin it down like you did. Scored 18k on that second round - not close on the first round. Good game though - liked that map a lot.
First game found 4/5 lighthouses. Only one I didn't find was round 3. I did momentarily think it could be France, but couldn't find a suitable spot. Ended up going with Denmark. 22.6k total score. Second game same story, missed one round, but this time it was the last round. I swore it looked like Nordic, somewhere on the Swedish or southern Norway coast, didn't even think it could be on the other side of the pond cause the road lines looked white to me. Barely 20k total score because that last round flub.
I can’t be bothered to install the script so I play street view on my phone. Some locations are indeed a lot harder that way but some are easier, especially the Cyprus one has a flag of Northern Cyprus right next to the lighthouse 😂 oh, and the one in Harwich (next to Felixstowe) is marked as „Harwich” which I know, as there used to be a ferry across the North Sea from Harwich to Hamburg which I took a couple of times with my family when we lived in England.
28:40 Those strips are along high voltage power lines so that no trees grow up into the powerlines.
Ahh, that makes sense!
I also saw somewhere that along the entire Canadian-US border there is a gap of 6.1 meters (20 feet) deforestation. Idk why they do that, but they do😄

Here's a spot where a deforested strip for power lines crosses the deforested strip of the border.

That sounds nice! I'm sure it's a beautiful area!
Cool video! I have two map suggestions for you: Homemade mailboxes and Amazing dragons!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Great map! Love lighthouses and just learning now about Scripts.
I'm glad to hear that! Satellite View script is a really fun one 😄

Thanks for a great map! It was very enjoyable and quite challenging from the ground.
Thanks for making the map! It was really fun for this mode! 😄
12:45 I've been to that lighthouse and recognized it right away 😃
Haha, nice! 😄
I love Whitby I go at least once a year, close to my home… it’s apparently where Dracula is buried 🧛♂️ really worth a visit if you’re ever close
Wow, that sounds like a fascinating place!
Forced coastal are more fun, while generals are more challenging.
I like some fun from time to time.
I like to mix it up 😄
When i want to iceland i went to that lighthouse on the first day and camped there on the camp site, it was a cool place! Pretty cool to see it here😂
Mist gave been a great experience! 😄
First one too easy for me, Bayona close to Vigo and Cies Islands where I've been last summer.
Well done recognizing it! 😄

Well done! This map was definitely harder from the ground! 😄
those long islands off the coast are referred to as barrier islands
Thanks! I'll try to remember!
Got Cape Cod as soon as it loaded! One of the most distinct looking places in the US.
A very unique shape indeed! 😄
I once had a cape made of cod. It was very impractical, but the seagulls loooooved it.
Iceland round had black volcanic soil everywhere.
Good point!

Today I learned that there are no lighthouses in the southern hemisphere. 😁
I'd guess there are fewer lighthouses there 😄

Hah, flags are certainly helpful! 😄
Don't worry my friend we don't mind to be called portuguese in Galiza
@@Sankisan1312 omg, sorry, I didn't realise 🫣
satellite script doesn't work for me, so i played normally
It had been a bit glitchy recently, make sure the script is updated :)
@@GeoPeter I’m having the exact same issue as he is!
Game 1: 10,241
Game 2: 12,612
I don't have the satellite view script :(
