You can't use shadows of clouds to find the hemisphere because their location on the ground relative to the cloud depends on the angle the satellite photo was taken at. If the shadow is directly below the cloud on midday, a photo taken from south of the cloud will show the shadow south of it as well, while a photo taken from the north will show the shadow north of the cloud.
True, that's why you can't always trust the sun when you're close to the equator :)
i really like the satelite view vids. keep em coming
Glad you like them! More to come! :)
Finally figured how to fix the Unity script and play satellite mode! Some of the rounds were quite challenging! Here are tips that worked for me: For the polish round, the thin & long fields are mostly in Eastern europe (but some in Austria too) and also there were some soviet block houses, usually not seen in Western europe. The many dirt streets in South Africa round immediately ruled out Australia and New Zealand. And in Malaysia round rainforest + orange tile roofs is a sign of Indonesia or Malaysia but finding that one was near impossible.
Thanks for the tips! :)
No i po co jechać do Danii? Skoro Dania już w Siedlcach
In the US they might have aligned the city’s grid to the river, but outside the city it would immediately go back to cardinal directions. Also the long narrow farm fields are rare in the US but very common in eastern Canada.
Thanks for the tips! That's useful to know!
That jump cut to the SA find was edited in a very interesting way. Why not show yourself guessing to NZ then SA instead of the yappin through tassie and the whole massive jump cut?
I agree, looks like I might have cut out a bit too much there. Sorry about that! Sometimes it can be hard to find the right balance between what to keep in and what to cut so the video doesn't get boring. :)
Shocked you didn’t go up there, closer to the equator! That spot is super close to the equator but you picked one much further away.
In hindsight, I should have gone more north 😅
Single yellow lines at the side of the road in the UK mean no parking or waiting between the times indicated on nearby signs. Double yellows mean no parking or waiting at any time - you can drop someone off but then have to drive off immediately. They'll be relatively easy to identify from above because they will stop and start and not edge every road, depending on what parking restrictions are in place. They mean the same in Ireland though, so it still won't help you dsitinguish between the two!
Thanks for the explanation! :)
First game started well, got pretty easy 5k on the first round. Second round was a lot tougher. Tried to match a town in UK or Ireland, but just couldn't find it. Got an alright guess and only lost ~500 points. Third round turned it up a notch. Couldn't figure out the country, but it looked European. Guessed Eastern Germany and lost 1.5k points there. 4th round was even tougher, wasn't even quite sure about the continent. Eventually guessed in Japan, which could've been a lot worse, cause I managed to scrape 2k score from that. 5th round I first thought UK, but then noticed the shadows going South, so switched searching Au and Nz. Couldn't find anything matching, so as a last ditch effort checked South Africa, and finally managed to find it. Got just above 20k on that game.
Second game was way rougher. No perfect rounds, only one correct country. First round I was sure had to be either US or Canada, but couldn't find any matching spots. Didn't really even think Vancouver area, because of the coast direction. Ended up guessing somewhere in the east coast. Second round I was thinking either Indonesia or Malaysia, but there was no chance I could ever find that. Lost the 50/50 on that guess. Third round was a lucky guess that I got the country right, but again lost quite a many points because Brazil is so huge. Fourth round I thought had to be Korea, since I saw baseball field and right side traffic, and it didn't feel like US/Canada. Couldn't have been more wrong. Last round I had no idea, apart from somewhere in the Middle East. Didn't actually even realize you could see that lake in the far western part of the map. Ended up guessing in Turkey. Barely 9k total score.
Thanks for playing and sharing! ^^
Always proud to see some good Quebec representation! :D
C-E-N-T-R-A-L Poland is C-E-N-T-R-A-L Europe!
Some classifications count is as Eastern, but I agree it is central :)
The Malaysia round had a mosque with gold domes that you skipped right over.
Nice catch! I did overlook that!
For the first one, I immediately thought Canada because of the grid angle!
Good thinking!
Thats an awesome game. I dont know yet. I will try it. Greetings from Germany
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
I wonder if the cloud shadows could change depending on the position/angle of the satellite taking the photo, since the clouds are so high compared to the ground? Those were definitely some hard seeds, though.
Hmm, maybe! I was thinking it's maybe different photos stitched together from different times.
instantly recognized the saint maurice river
Well done! I eventually got there, too 😄
Greetings from Siedlce ❤
Thanks! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Thanks for watching, though! :)
DO NOT translate your video titles. Please. Holy shit it's so trash.
Which language it is? UA-cam has started doing it automatically
