    I like how you went backwards. You explained scoring first (the last step in a game), and then ended with setup (the firsts step in the game), but it made it so much more clear. Very well explained

    Explaining the scoring first really helped me understand everything that followed. Great job, thank you!

      That's so great to hear. Really validates my whole philosophy of board game teaching ⭐

    Excellent instruction video! I like how you explain the scoring first, since that's often what's needed to explain to other players so they know what to look for and play towards. Thanks!

      I'm glad it helped! I've found with this game (and lots of others), info about how you play pieces and stuff like that just doesn't stick when people don't already have the context of what they're aiming for. That's probably the first tip I'd give for most game teaching.

    Nicely done video! :) The audio & video were clear and easy to follow. I'll use what I learned here to teach the game at one of our upcoming game nights. Question - What would you say is the optimal number of players?

    • @GamePointTabletop
      @GamePointTabletop  9 місяців тому +1

      Ooh good question. Not one I feel super confident answering unfortunately. I've only played it with 4 players or solo. Between those two choices, I'd prefer 4-player. I generally am not very excited about solo games though, so that's not a dig at this game's solo mechanics.
      I suspect a 2- or 3-player game would make it easier to strategically watch what your opponents are collecting, so you could strategize around that more if you want to.

    Tomorrow going to try and play Cascadia with my girlfriend and this video is really going to help. You make it really comprehensible and way less daunting. Looking forward to tomorrow.

    Thanks for your tutorial. I’ll agree with other comments that starting with the scoring first, set the stage for how to play. I’ll need to remember that when teaching others or have them watch this video😊. Your explanation of the scoring was more thorough than some other videos I’ve seen. I got Cascadia + Landmarks as a bundle as I’m often seeking a gateway game that all skill levels will enjoy at a higher player count.

      @jamessherman7797 thank you for the kind feedback! Cascadia definitely fits that gateway need, and I've seen that people who dont game heavily will like this game a lot.

      Thank you! It always feels like going out on a limb when I choose to really mess with the order of teaching topics, but then I remind myself that the whole reason for a channel like this existing is that video gives me the flexibility to teach in whatever order supports learning best and isn't constrained by practicality/logistics (like learning in-person would be) or by the need to serve as reference material (like a rulebook would be). And whenever I choose to slash and rearrange the order, the feedback always makes me glad I did.

      That's the plan! I took some time away from the channel after moving and changing jobs and had a bunch of other stuff going on, but restarted last year and plan to keep releasing about one video a month for the foreseeable future.

    First Question
    Hi , my question is on the level 12 of ACHIEVEMENT SCENARIO that can be played in solo mode.
    In this scenario the Roosevelt elk token cannot be placed on forest habitat , does it means that the Roosevelt elk cannot be placed on the tiles that represents two types of habitat like forest and Prairies or forest and mountain ??
    Or
    It cannot be placed only on those tiles that represents the single forest habitat ??
    2nd Question:-
    During a particular turn ,I had used a Nature token to wipe all the wildlife token , when I took out the next set of wildlife , three fox token came out , can I again replace those three fox tokens as mentioned in the rule book ??
    Before I replace those three fox token , shall I put back all those wildlife token into the bag that I had wiped out using the nature token ??

    • @GamePointTabletop
      @GamePointTabletop  Рік тому +1

      I'm not familiar with the fine details of the achievements, but I can answer your second question.
      The wording in the rulebook for overpopulation and nature tokens implies that the order is strict, and you deal with overpopulation BEFORE using nature tokens only. So that would mean you can't choose to replace the three foxes.
      And for the second part of your question, about when to put the tokens back in the bag. The rulebook is clear when it comes to overpopulation, but not as clear when it comes to nature tokens. My understanding of the literal wording of the rulebook is that you leave all removed tiles out of the bag until you finish dealing with overpopulation, then mix them back in. Then you may spend any number of nature tiles, and if you use multiple you'd keep the removed tiles out until you're done with spending tokens, and mix them all back in when you're done.
      That literal interpretation of the rulebook seems overly complicated and legalistic to me though, so if I were actually playing I'd probably allow players to use nature tokens before or after resolving overpopulation, and keep removed tokens out of the bag through that whole process to mix back in once they're done with ALL replacements. Replacing tokens multiple times in a turn doesn't happen often enough for that to be a significant time burden on the game in my opinion. The one legalistic limitation from the rulebook I'd want to keep, though, is that you can only do a voluntary clearing of 3 matched wildlife, once per round.

      @@GamePointTabletop it's pretty good! Easy to learn, easy to play, the locations vs plazas seems to confuse new players but they get the hang of it, not great at 4 players though as it can be very AP particularly if you are player 1 at the start of a round.

    For the bears it doesnt matter the orientation

    • @GamePointTabletop

      correct. Orientation doesn't matter for any of the animals.

    is there a digital version>?

    • @GamePointTabletop
      @GamePointTabletop  Рік тому +1

      It looks like there are a handful of digital versions available, though I haven't tried any of them myself so I can't make a proper recommendation 😊. Looks like it's on Tabletopia, Tabletop Simulator, and this random website cascadiagame.github.io/ (though that option only works for one-player games and doesn't seem to include the alternative animal scoring options as far as I can tell)
