i work at goodwill, and we scan the books before we put them out for sale. All the good books get sent away and sold online on an auction website. good luck trying to make any money at goodwill, all the good shit is taken away before it ever hits the floor. also the stuff gets put out all day every day not just at the beginning of the week
every district is different. my store doesn't scan books and we don't have an auction site. the workers aren't allowed to buy anything unless it hits the floor for customers first.
An additional thought: you're going to need somewhere to store all this stuff unless you want your home to soon become overrun with items and a candidate for filming for "Hoarders". If you need to rent storage for a goodly amount of merchandise, that is another cost that needs to be considered if you become truly serious doing this sort of thing. (And there will be other costs to consider for sure, if you want to really approach this in the way a true business model dictates: cost of gas to go to these thrift stores, wear and tear on your vehicle, internet access service fees; small, overlooked items that seem inconsequential but are really important in the real cost of running this or any other business, no matter how small). Just keep it all in mind and in perspective.
I work at a thrift store. Most things that come in are trash. Very few items are really worth anything. But the store is always full every day. We make over $15,000 a day from stuff people just give to us. That's pure profit. It's insane that people actually buy this shit.
Joseph Smith Sometimes it's not about making a profit, for the customer at your store. Sometimes it's about finding something nostalgic from their childhood, or finding something 60 to 100 years old that still works and is an interesting peice, or getting something for yourself that is brand new/almost brand new for a fraction of the cost. Sure there is alot of trash out there, and I won't say alot of consumers are smart. But hey, there can be alot of neat stuff out there.
I used Goodwill, Salvation Army, DAV Thrift Store, etc. when I was first married. Also, after my first wife raped me of everything. It's a great place to find stuff like dishes, silverware, pots and pans and furniture to outfit an apartment cheaply.
You are right but, still, 15k a day is a pretty nice sum! That's 5.4 million a year in sales from a single store... I think the guy is exaggerating how much money they make but, if they do make 15k a day...that's a nice solid business right there.
A little tip for you on tape decks. They may come on. But I have found that many times when you play a cassette, the sound could be garbled or dragging. What causes garbling is easy to fix, usually you just adjust the audio head which in most cases you can do with an electronic screw driver which insert into holes (provided) by the maker. However, if your sound is dragging, you have just paid out money you'll never get back! Because dragging is caused by three things and none can be fixed. First, lightning could over power the sensitive components on the servo board. That meaning, the resistors, capacitor or power supply line. Second, those machines are often belt driven which is a small grooved rubber band that stretches after intense play or from heat and cold. Third and this being the most frequent (especially on Karaoke players) the sound drags because one motor or both for tape decks is going out or is not getting enough of the original power it was designed for. VHS Tape decks have similar symptoms. This is not a bad idea of going to Goodwill or thrift stores but buying electronics is a risky investment. Just good advice! One last detail to mention, I have re-sold things in person. But if you do with electronics, be certain you can trust them before you ship.
I love the way you said we had more freakin' pickers than customers here. When I'm in a thrift store and there are other pickers, I just feel a RAGE in my heart and I have to stop and realize that I am one of those "freakin' pickers" myself. LOL
I don't understand you making $100 in an hour. what happens if that stuff takes six months to sell or if you never sell them.I see an investment being made but I don't see an hourly figure.
He's predicting that much income from the hour of time he spent. Close enough for me to figure. He might sit on it a month or two or longer, but if it sells for his predicted amount I'd say he's doing well. An hour is an hour, and 100 bucks is 100 bucks. Just because it sat there for a month doesn't mean it took more than an hour to find and estimate a price on it.
Don't forget the time it takes to list that stuff, talk to customers, ship items, meet people. If you've ever sold stuff on Craigslist, you know the time consuming part isn't shopping at the Goodwill.
Joe Monroe ... yeah where can a person get cheap shipping? it seems like UPS and FedX are the ones getting the most profit from the 'ebay generation'.... ymmv
I used to deliver for USPS, and they're your cheapest option for pretty much anything under 70 lbs. However, shape matters, so if you're not shipping in a traditional box, you might find cheaper pricing at UPS or FedEx. You can also schedule free pickup at your home or office with Click-N-Ship. I hated getting random pickup requests because it threw off my flow & schedule, but I got to know my regular CNS customers pretty well.
Fed EX SUCKS I use UPS. Fed Ex lost packages more than once and they leave it without knocking on the door. I live in a good area so it shouldn't be a problem but i have had a package stolen.
These kind of videos will be gone in a year. I've been to a number of Goodwill stores, a LOT of times. There's almost never anything worth the gas it takes to get there, and when it is, they have it priced 5X what this video shows. The money to be made at GW stores around here are measured in quarters, not dollars. And electronics is limited to a cassett player, a busted VCR, and a bunch of clock radios.
Jacob Ware laser d9sc is a risky buy, last one i bought from goodwill did not work until i disassembled it and somehow it started working again, most people would not want to do that
I know. I know. I was just poking at him, but Yes, I completely understand. Even in this modern day and age, I still need to get used to walking by people in the supermarket talking to someone else via their Bluetooth ear plug. It always catches my eye. LoL good stuff and good memories because I forgot I commented on this almost half a year ago!
Speaking from experience here… The hidden costs that he doesn't talk about are: the time spent looking up prices, describing the item correctly, cleaning, repairing if necessary, taking pictures, waiting for item to sell, storing inventory, keeping tabs on hundreds of items, answering potential buyers questions, packaging, shipping, ect. Time is money, people, and if you're not finding desirable, big ticket items that aren't ready for immediate resale, you're wasting your time.
$100 an hour after the things you mentioned is ridiculous , picking is only half the time you use at the mostly likely closer to a 1/3 if your picking correctly. Speaking from a different experience here I can also tell you it is not a waste of time as I've made net profit (not gross sales) over $60,000 a year for 3 consecutive years now doing this and I work maybe 30-35 hours a week on average. As a high school drop out I could never make more then half of this at another job so I assure it is not a waste of time.
Someone said that all the "good stuff" never makes it to the shelves. It is put aside by the Goodwill employees to keep for themselves or friends. What do you think?
That's precisely what happened when I donated a bunch of stuff to Salvation Army. Before I could get out the door, the employees were fighting over who would get what.
I’m glad because the low wage employees get something for themselves so the scavengers as seen in this video can’t. A goodwill filled scavenger resellers hoping to make a quick $10.
Goodwill often sells broken electronics. Do take that into consideration. They only offer store credit for broken items. Especially Blue Ray players hard to test them.
So, if you notice, he ran the total of $100 as "Gross Profit" - that's pre-fees, pre-shipping, etc. Between eBay's 10% and PayPal's 7% Fees that's $17 right there that he didn't make. Also, but this is 1 Hour of Shopping. I wonder how long he spent cleaning, taking pictures, doing research, creating the listing, and then how long he had to wait for it to sell. Quite frankly, I avoid the smaller profit items that I know the shipping costs would be high for, such as, the first item in the beginning - the Wireless Air Gaming Device that he said is worth $12-$20 (idk if that included Free Shipping or not), but that shipping cost would be in a 14x12x4 Inch Box - which limits you to, either, USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box ($12.40 ship cost) or USPS Priority Mail Regional with your own box ($8.15-$18, depending on region and box cost), or, if lucky enough, you could have a FedEx Office nearby to use FedEx SmartPost for cheaper.
In my juvenile days I had to do community service at goodwill. We stole everything and anything worth while. Figured they were charging folks too much anyway.
I'd be willing to bet 80% of all donations are from people de-clutterinfg their dead relatives' stuff. The reality is, all our stuff is going to either the thrift store or the dump.
I think this is a fine video and it supplies a good deal of information. However, the one element so many people doing this sort of stuff always seem to forget is their TIME. Time is money; don't people give their time any value??? Example: this gentleman just spent $29 (ok, let's round it off to $30) on a group of items he says he will more than likely sell for $100. He just spent an hour in the Goodwill; let's say his time is worth at least $10 an hour, not an exorbitant amount. So, we're up to $40 invested. Next, it will take him at least one hour to list all those items on Ebay--another $10 for $50. Assuming he sells everything, he will then have to package them all, drive to the shipping location (post office, UPS, etc., unless he gets them picked up at home) which will entail probably another hour, possibly two--minimum of another $10 (or even $20). So, we have him investing approximately $60 to make $100 with no guarantee that he will actually make $100. This is not a great business model unless you can easily afford the investment in time and energy and are not really needing any substantial income. Hobby fun this may be, serious business, uh, I don't think so.
Ani S No, I allotted an hour to list everything and then an hour or two to package and ship all those items (if and when they sell); that may probably be a conservative estimate. The point is that Ebay is a good way to make money, but it is not as easy as many people are led to believe and requires a good deal of organization and selling savvy.
+Christina link This session was a rather ordinary one, but sometimes you make a really big score, say an item worth hundreds. Also on the selling end, at times people overpay for things. Plus the 70.00 increase in working capital allows you to "climb the ladder". Today you are dealing GW junk but tomorrow collector automobiles. And lastly, each picking session adds to your knowledge of what is out there. Beats a boring office job any day.
Personally I don't count my time or at most I count my time as $5 an hour. The reason for that is I'm actually disabled with chronic pain. So it takes me longer to do things. Plus this would be/is a source of earning just a little extra to help pay for things. Usually medical stuff. Or for the occasional fun thing. I also do crafts and I sold a pair of fairy garden storage jars I made from Dollar Tree stuff. If I actually counted my time I'd be shooting myself in the foot since I take so long. But since I'd probably be doing it anyway I don't count the time and about tripled my money. I'm trying to get into some buying and selling of either crafts or things I've been lucky enough to find to sell. I'm hoping I can make at least enough to help pay for my badly needed over dentures. Unfortunately I can't wear regular denture due to overgrown bone causing severe pain. That's my hopeful goal. But I also just want and need to get out more often. If I stay too long in bed I hurt more and if I do too much I hurt more. But I'm finally trying to get out more and be healthier this year. So far I'm doing ok at it. Since being put on 2.5 mg of Prednisone I'm a lot better in general. So I want to push myself to try and get out more and one way of doing that is to go thrift store/clearance/fleamarket shopping. So far I haven't really sold anything. Well besides those jars. But I did get 2 men's construction/hiking boots by bearpaw. They are an $60-80 shoe that I got for 89¢. Of course they're not perfect. But other than a few little paint stains they're in great condition. I'm really hoping I can sell them for $15-25. The inserts do come out and that makes it great for orthotics. Just wish they fit me. They were so cheap I figured I try to sell them for a while and if I still have them in 6 or so months I can just donate them. Men's stuff rarely gets donated unfortunately. So while it is possible to make a living at this, although extremely hard, most of us are more in it to supplement our income. Not that I've succeeded yet. I personally wouldn't rely on the money from it until after I sold it. Plus the adrenaline and excitement you get from finding a truly great deal helps with pain control. At the very least I get out some.
did you take into account shipping cost, the time it takes to list, clean, ship the items, ebay/paypal fees. The shipping cost for the pioneer player will be super expensive!!
Your Goodwill prices are amazing. That Homedics massager would easily be $14.99 to $19.99 at my locals ones. The Pioneer cassette would be at least $29.99. Plus mine NEVER have sales. I rarely even go in them anymore.
Yeah pretty much. I have a really great one I got for free from re-signing my lease that has multiple heads, including both a heated one and an ice one. It was only $40 at Walgreens and they're kinda on the high side. If I had bought it I'd have gone elsewhere.
I used to pick vintage furniture and classic video games about 15 years ago. Goodwill has nothing of value inside the store that isn't already priced beyond what it's worth. They have smartphones too! However, their lot auctions do have some good stuff if you know what you're looking for and you're willing to wade through a lot of crap. I bought a lot for $30 there once, threw 75% of it away in their dumpster, sold half of what was left to some other guy there for $150,and sold the other half of it on eBay for $250. Even still, that's a highly unusual day. Most days you go to 4-5 places and find a couple things you'll make 5-10 bucks on if you're lucky. Like he points out, too many people do this. You get the thrill of the treasure hunt, but there's no money in it.
That is the nicest most well stocked Goodwill store I have ever seen. It's also got the cheapest prices I've ever seen in a Goodwill. The Goodwills in Texas and Georgia that I have been into have all been total garbage by comparison.
Just a few observations from doing this myself: never just look at what something is being listed for if you’re using EBay to figure out what something is worth. It’ll be all over the board. Look at what it was sold for to get a true value of what it is worth. And even then your taking a chance. Do as Warren Buffett and buy what you know. And each time you go in take one item that you know nothing about and read up on it. If you leave empty handed at least you learned something. And don’t worry about your “competition”. There’s enough out there for everybody!
Why do they have to go around him? The people in the door are shopping. They do not need to move of go around him, I don't see anyone who is in his way. He did not stop what he was doing. He is commenting on the people in the store.
+Craigslist Hunter - Nice video. I have a few questions: 1) For books, you are saying things like "oh this book is ranked low..." - what do you mean "ranked low", and it seems you are saying that "ranked low" is good. Is that correct? 2) What apps (multiple apps?) are you using to scan the items to check prices? 3) Last one... your watch. It looks like a "Citizen", what type/model is it, and how do you like it? Did you get the watch at Goodwill/Thrift shop?
All of you negative comments envy this man. Keep up the phenomenal work @Craigslist Hunter Thank you for opening all of our eyes (which is why we watch) even though some of the commenters say other wise. It is obvious they watch these videos to LEARN how to make a profit just as you do. Thanks again. Awesome content. You have a forever subscriber in me.
One day I decided to go on a Monday morning to hit the large goodwill outlet. Wouldn't you know it. Almost everyone in that store with their profit bandit picking and picking and picking. LOL
You might make some profit if you did a furniture restoration or revamp of an old piece of furniture but that's really about it. I wouldn't waist my time.
you spent an hour of your time and money thinking you made 100 bucks an hour. When you haven't actually sold it. Some of that stuff your stuck with for months maybe yrs.
+Swamp Picker I'd bet not...Everything he picked has a lot of same items with no bids on any of them....look them up...you'll see what I mean....Crap nobody wants....or it wouldn't be in goodwill...
The biggest problem is many thrift stores including Goodwill sell on eBay now! And others if they don't often look stuff up before they price it and price it so there's no meat on the bone! Also as CH ran into here, there are A LOT of other pickers out there! When you combine that with all the competition on eBay, people making very little profit offering Free Shipping, it is getting harder and harder and harder to try to find stuff you can actually make a profit on! Especially at thrift stores!
And more people are BROKE every day, so DEMAND for used merch keeps INCREASING exponentially. Pete has two shops, but apparently his new one (in Chicago) is currently selling more than is coming IN... so it seems his 'small town' (with 5- 10x the floor space) is actually getting more merch coming through the front door, so a steady flow of sales, both online and off. I have an IDEA to source things, and AVOID wasting TIME and EFFORT 'searching' for items to resell... I think I may implement it soon, as I went out looking for gold and silver to BUY on more than one occasion... only to run into the same challenges, x 10... At least in a larger metro area there are items to 'pick.' But in smaller towns (like Pete's) there seems to be less COMPETITION, to resell... and far more MERCHANDISE coming through the front door? (Although that likely took two+ years to gain the trust, referrals and repeat business???) And now he's moving a LOT on eBay.com, but 'brick n mortar' stores are only AFFORDABLE in smaller towns I suspect, for start- ups??? (i.e. A good location and adequate floor space, etc.) I'd do say four or more smaller locations, approx. one hour apart, then the BIG CITY store/s... if the no. 2 location proves to be to slow and spendy, to sustain itself.
And as someone pointed out above... GW's EMPLOYEES 'take things' for themselves. (Likely for resale on eBay, etc.) I'd fire anyone doing that, but they likely pay their employees, 'minimum wage?' And if their auction website is any indication... they don't seem to CARE about having a separate web presence, and likely also then resell themselves, on eBay?? Sounds like they need to hire a different CEO???
You wont find anything at goodwill that's worth flipping anymore. Goodwill caught on,raised their prices and started an online auction site. All the valuable stuff gets sold on auction and the junk in store.
These aren't pickers. Lol pickers find antiques and aren't lazy, thrifters go to a store by junk sell it for a stupid mark up and make it that we now have to pay more for junk we could find at a thrift store.
Dirty Fingernails I can confirm this because I used to work at goodwill...and depending on the people you work with... many of the coworkers will stash the valuable items for themselves
I saw a table at a goodwill store in their dumpster that I wanted. I made the mistake of asking the guy in the store if I could have it. He said no. I should have just took it. After all, they were tossing it away.
Yeah. From what I understand legally, once it's in the dumpster they have lost ownership of it. At least that's how I've seen it work with police stealing garbage to search. No expectation of privacy because they gave up ownership. That's my understanding.
Interesting that fellow picker did not call you "Voulchers!!!" I was called that a few times when carts of clothing were released because if you don't grab nice shoes or clothes, someone else will and I see like 20 pickers in GW every single one....How did you tape that? I assume with your phone? How did you position that in cart? I'd love to do that too. Please do tell. Thanks for the video. Oh and btw, your GW is AMAZING!!! In Indiana its just crap and you can spend like 8 hours and they rarely release a cart with stuff..
dev ochka I came to Anderson, Indiana for a family reunion and me and my wife was able to sneak into a Goodwill out there. Man the prices there where high and bad quality goods. Our goodwill in our area is also a hit or miss. I almost don't bother going to Goodwill anymore.
Lol. You haven't seen HIGH prices. I think one of managers in local GW went coocoo. They had men's USED Brooksbrothers shirts priced at $50 each. I took pictures....USED kids (4 years old jacket) $50! Women's red pants $43.00 I was like... I'd rather go shop at Macys :)
Omg I’m glad you posted this cos I completely missed her...Her face is PRICELESS! And she only looks away once he shoots her a look like, “you got a problem with a guy who just wants to tell his shopping cart about these nice books he found??”
I usually like the Salvation Army a bit better, stuff is thrown all over the place and they are usually located in the 'hood. That usually chases away the other pickers!
krillin876 our salvation army has nothing but crappy crap with cat/dog and human waste smell You should really see it. I think the employees pick it over before its released on floor
krillin876 exactly. Walked in yesterday into (what used to be my favorite gw) the management changed there and now it's pure crap. Still managed to find an item priced at $2.00 that sells for $40 plus shipping
I realize you uploaded this video awhile ago but is there any way you can tell me what camera and settings you used to shoot this video?? I wanted to shoot a "come shop with me" video recently but couldn't get anywhere near the cool shot you got. Love your set up! Top notch :)
@@flyingchimp12someone needs to buy it before thats proven, it’s just like nft’s it can be valued at 100 million but if nobody wants it it’s worth as much as 0$
Perhaps you should re-title this video to How Much $ Can I Spend In 1 Hour because at no time did I see you "make" anything other than this video. How about some post purchase net figures/facts at the end of the video instead of what you think you'll make in a perfect world?
+35ABSTRACT Not to mention that it will take "hours and hours" to sell all that stuff. Some of his estimates might be a little off as well. Old tape cassette player for $30 to $50? I will have to see a honest buyer pay that much to be a believer.
Hello to you and the others that replied! In all fairness, you guys should check out this guy's (Craigslist Hunter's) other videos. He is truly a GOLDMINE of information- if you're into reselling on Ebay. He's got a ton of experience with unusual items and he's a walking encyclopedia of what things are worth. One of his best training videos shows you exactly what to auction, and how to get top dollar via Ebay's auction platform.. (in several videos he teaches auctioning techniques). Trust me, watch a few and you'll be glad you did. His videos will save you a lot of time. The more I watch him, the more amazed I am about the extent of his knowledge - very grateful to have found his channel.
He "spent" an hour at a Goodwill to illustrate the 'competition' and likely net minus $100.00, and eventually exceed that amount in AdSense revenues, whilst 'picking' up a few dozen new 'subs' on YT, per video. (200+ in the last 48 hrs., for example.) He also grossed $55k. in sales in June and July, 2016 in eBay sales alone... and I would imagine LAUGHS at all the IGNO-RANT 'comments' here? (NAH, he doesn't have the SPARE TIME to...) ;-)))
In two days, I've learned plenty from watching perhaps a half dozen or so of Pete's videos. And yet the 'ranters,' RANT... while Google, inc. and the channel owners, make 'Ad Sense' spare change... KIDS will be just THAT...
Poor girl having to be his cashier. @11:00 and beyond is hard to watch. The way she holds the massager away from her like iit will attack @11:25...I mean I don't blame her.
Yeah and that's why I would have kept a very large bottle of hand sanitizer next to me. But at least it's a job. I can't say to much I love thrift shopping.
Your picks look very expensive to ship. Can you make a video on packaging and shipping items and how to save money on ship costs. Thanks for the video.
The answer in any reselling is NO you cant make any money in one hour of looking for product. It must be cleaned, researched, graded, photographed, listed, packaged and shipped. Even if you just threw it on a local listing the odds of selling any specific value item in under 1 hour of walking into a goodwill are slim to none.
mines an absolute mess the back of it looks like 3 ails or so where a tornado touched down! stuff is literally thrown everywhere! his looks like a neat one
i made 250.00 by spending 34.00 on christmas blowmolds at a thrift shop, only took me a week to tell em and i spent an hour washing them up..so it was a 216.00 profit on 1 week so yes you can def. make money
I don't know if I can make $100, but I can definitely spend $100 in an hour
It would be better if he shows how long it takes to sell each item
nice guy Yes, I agree
good video ideal
i work at goodwill, and we scan the books before we put them out for sale. All the good books get sent away and sold online on an auction website. good luck trying to make any money at goodwill, all the good shit is taken away before it ever hits the floor. also the stuff gets put out all day every day not just at the beginning of the week
shopgoodwill.com shop from your couch...I found some gems for LESS than my local GW charges..that are very re-sellable.
every district is different. my store doesn't scan books and we don't have an auction site. the workers aren't allowed to buy anything unless it hits the floor for customers first.
Yea I work at a goodwill on the east coast and the west coast they are different
Man I know and people think us workers get to pick what we want before shit gets put out and it's just not true
East Coast goodwills SUCK ASS
picker complaining about other pickers
lol
sell them, and let us know what you actually make after fees and how much time you've spent. listing those items will take more than an hour.

I think the guy is exaggerating how much money they make but, if they do make 15k a day...that's a nice solid business right there.
Yup deff a nice solid business... Selling shit they get for free..
How much did you get for the vibrator?
B B lmfao !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He gunna jam that in his assh0le at home 😝
i'm more curious about the aftermath of all this like how long it took to sell everything and is any of those items still up for sale.

I don't understand you making $100 in an hour. what happens if that stuff takes six months to sell or if you never sell them.I see an investment being made but I don't see an hourly figure.
If he can find all this in an hour, and it eventually sells for $100, that seems like 100 an hour to me.
Nathan Jennings I understand what he is saying. but he's not selling those goods in an hour. so how is he making $100 an hour.
It's clickbait. Some of the books might now sell at all. And there are listing and relisting feed and returns to consider.
After listing and shipping and accounting, it's a lot more than 1 hour of work.
money is work
Joe Monroe ... yeah where can a person get cheap shipping? it seems like UPS and FedX are the ones getting the most profit from the 'ebay generation'.... ymmv
+david thompson USPS is OK if it's under 15oz. anything heavier FedEx is better.
And electronics is limited to a cassett player, a busted VCR, and a bunch of clock radios.
yet he ignores the laserdisc player

ikr
Jacob Ware Double Deck Tape Decks are worth nothing
Andrew Woodford
Howabout laser disc players? xD
Jacob Ware laser d9sc is a risky buy, last one i bought from goodwill did not work until i disassembled it and somehow it started working again, most people would not want to do that
Andrew Woodford not exactlty, but i certainly would not buy them
I love the grandma checking you out @ 9:00 and your side-eye look at 9:07.

Lmfao
i think she was wondering what he was doing and who he was talking to lol
I know. I know. I was just poking at him, but Yes, I completely understand. Even in this modern day and age, I still need to get used to walking by people in the supermarket talking to someone else via their Bluetooth ear plug. It always catches my eye. LoL good stuff and good memories because I forgot I commented on this almost half a year ago!
kayla summting GiLF's
Speaking from experience here… The hidden costs that he doesn't talk about are: the time spent looking up prices, describing the item correctly, cleaning, repairing if necessary, taking pictures, waiting for item to sell, storing inventory, keeping tabs on hundreds of items, answering potential buyers questions, packaging, shipping, ect. Time is money, people, and if you're not finding desirable, big ticket items that aren't ready for immediate resale, you're wasting your time.
Daaaaaamn that’s true
Agreed.
COMPLAINING IS ALL THE HATERS WILL EVER DO.. TALK TALK TALK.. NO ACTION LMAO.. THE LAZY LIFESTYLE WILL NOT GET YOU BY IN THIS LIFE.
On the upside, shopping for stuff is really fun & you get to be your own boss.
I like you you never show exactly what sold and for how much. I can do this all day too, predict how much I can profit off of resale items.
9:00 that person in the back is cracking me up for some reason hahaha
Someone said that all the "good stuff" never makes it to the shelves. It is put aside by the Goodwill employees to keep for themselves or friends. What do you think?
That's precisely what happened when I donated a bunch of stuff to Salvation Army. Before I could get out the door, the employees were fighting over who would get what.
Most of the good stuff gets sold on goodwill.com or eBay
Yes we have to put certain things aside for e-commerce
@@user-gi6ee8vj1y that is exactly what happens at Salvation Army they sell it for “low” prices
I’m glad because the low wage employees get something for themselves so the scavengers as seen in this video can’t. A goodwill filled scavenger resellers hoping to make a quick $10.
And where's the profit report of $100 profit /hr. ??
right seastar I need evidence yet I am inspired at the thought none the less
Goodwill often sells broken electronics. Do take that into consideration. They only offer store credit for broken items. Especially Blue Ray players hard to test them.
It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it no matter what the internet says
out of your mind thinking you'll get $25 out of that bootlip massager
Even this dead guy knows you are crazy!
only thing you're pickin, is a GUNT. You're GUNTIN, bro. A real gunter. I noticed ALL those guys in that store that are "pickers" are GUNTERS!
He's out of his mind for using it on himself without cleaning it. Gross.
hahahah
Wouldn't spend $1 on it
Nowadays Goodwill is charging triple these prices. Cant find good deals anymore.
Paypal's fees are 3%.
Anthonyk747 still beats sitting in a stupid office shuffling paper somewhere. Some of us like to be free.
I agree
Spot on
In my juvenile days I had to do community service at goodwill.
We stole everything and anything worth while. Figured they were charging folks too much anyway.
For the books, when you are scanning them. Are you using a app for that? If so, what's the name of the app?
+Jenna Hopkins Profit Bandit APP Thank you for watching. Cheers !!
+Craigslist Hunter how much did you pay for the app?
+Jenbug0421 ya
I just downloaded it for free
I'm gonna download that app!
2:20 "People die and uh....ya gotta love those people." a true opportunist.
+Christina link are you saying it takes an hour to list one thing? That is takes an hour to pack and shop one thing?
+Christina link This. And double this.
That is the biggest Good Will Store I have ever seen! They don’t have outlets to plug stuff in where I live...that’s great!
3:27 Uh fyi, pickers that buy stuff in a store are also customers.
did you take into account shipping cost, the time it takes to list, clean, ship the items, ebay/paypal fees. The shipping cost for the pioneer player will be super expensive!!
do you sell everything you buy? like do you end up buying something that just sits in your house?that's the only thing i worry about when picking
Your Goodwill prices are amazing. That Homedics massager would easily be $14.99 to $19.99 at my locals ones. The Pioneer cassette would be at least $29.99. Plus mine NEVER have sales. I rarely even go in them anymore.
Aren't the massagers only about $25 new? Just wonderin'.
+Mindy L. Yeah, I looked them up on EBAY. Tons of listings. ZERO BIDS
That's assuming your going to sell all of that. Which I'm pretty sure more than half won't.
ThePrankDudes even if only half sells he would still make profit
That is the nicest most well stocked Goodwill store I have ever seen. It's also got the cheapest prices I've ever seen in a Goodwill. The Goodwills in Texas and Georgia that I have been into have all been total garbage by comparison.
Wtf this guy meet Gordon Ramsey at goodwill??
and wasted 2:26 minutes of his challenge hour -chatting about himself lol
youve gotta have humility to have a page like this lol
Stanley Kinzinger you’re smoking a cig in your picture bud. The big boys call you a peasant lmaoooooo
... And all this junk will sit on another shelf for a month or two
Just a few observations from doing this myself: never just look at what something is being listed for if you’re using EBay to figure out what something is worth.
Video was entertaining but I really just want to comment on how weird and rude everyone in that store was...no one has ever heard of "excuse me" ?
The House Of Masks Hey AJ, I hate you
The House Of Masks excuse me...they didn't speak manners.
Why do they have to go around him? The people in the door are shopping. They do not need to move of go around him, I don't see anyone who is in his way. He did not stop what he was doing. He is commenting on the people in the store.
Nobody is being rude to him.
not talking about him...im talking about my own experiences and if u dont like it then lets hop back to the 90s and u can talk to the hand
What exactly does he mean when he is ranking things while he is scanning the items?
But he didn't MAKE a hundred bucks in an hour, in this video. Just PROJECTED his earnings to be so.....BIG difference....
+Craigslist Hunter - Nice video. I have a few questions:
1) For books, you are saying things like "oh this book is ranked low..." - what do you mean "ranked low", and it seems you are saying that "ranked low" is good. Is that correct?
2) What apps (multiple apps?) are you using to scan the items to check prices?
3) Last one... your watch. It looks like a "Citizen", what type/model is it, and how do you like it? Did you get the watch at Goodwill/Thrift shop?
what condition did you sell that cookbook for on Amazon?
Jerry Jones The book was Like Brand New but I will always go 1 grade lower so just Very Good. Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
Why would I pay you $25 for a massager when I can just get one from Goodwill for $3 😄
What's the app you use to scan? Is it Android or Apple? And what does the ranking mean?
Most likely a QRReader.
It's an ISBN scanner. Which is the codes that are on all books to rank them. There are a lot of good free ISBN scanner apps out there.
Thank you have a nice day.
Jim Gordon want to know the exact app too, don't listen to Nathan, he doesn't know what the app was
Jim Gordon Peter answered, it's called Profit bandit, told you not to listen to Nathan
Actually seen you spend money that hour. I didn't see you sell anything for profit. Clickbait
"More pickers here than actual customers." Kind of a shame considering the intention of the store.
The intention of those stores is to make money. Helping the poorz is a fig leaf, nothing more. They don't care who buys their shytt.
One day I decided to go on a Monday morning to hit the large goodwill outlet. Wouldn't you know it. Almost everyone in that store with their profit bandit picking and picking and picking. LOL
carefull, do you know where that massager was placed on last use?
Or you can stand around and talk all day and not make any money
You might make some profit if you did a furniture restoration or revamp of an old piece of furniture but that's really about it. I wouldn't waist my time.
you spent an hour of your time and money thinking you made 100 bucks an hour. When you haven't actually sold it. Some of that stuff your stuck with for months maybe yrs.
I remember growing up and Goodwill was a poor person store...Now everyone shops there.
Have you sold anything you pick from that outing.
Thanks
+Swamp Picker I'd bet not...Everything he picked has a lot of same items with no bids on any of them....look them up...you'll see what I mean....Crap nobody wants....or it wouldn't be in goodwill...
The Goodwill here is very unorganized, yours seems very nice! Thanks for the video!
So, after all that, subtract postage, milage, and fees to Amazon, Ebay and Etsy, what is the real profit margin.
pickers drive the prices up for those of us that are "shoppers" thanks.
That lady thought you were a crazy dude talking to yourself 🤣9:04
Interesting that fellow picker did not call you "Voulchers!!!" I was called that a few times when carts of clothing were released because if you don't grab nice shoes or clothes, someone else will and I see like 20 pickers in GW every single one....How did you tape that? I assume with your phone? How did you position that in cart? I'd love to do that too. Please do tell. Thanks for the video. Oh and btw, your GW is AMAZING!!! In Indiana its just crap and you can spend like 8 hours and they rarely release a cart with stuff..
dev ochka I film everything with GoPro Hero3 it has a special clamp that I can attach to anything. Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
Craigslist Hunter Ah ok. Thanks for sharing :) I have gopro hero 3 silver just need to buy the clamp then :) Thanks again
dev ochka I came to Anderson, Indiana for a family reunion and me and my wife was able to sneak into a Goodwill out there.
I'd rather go shop at Macys :)
dev ochka Wow, $50 bucks yeah mind as well go to Macy's to shop LOL.
So the light did come on but woukdn't you be able to see it vibrate at all.

Good haul providing you sell that stuff.
Omg I’m glad you posted this cos I completely missed her...Her face is PRICELESS! And she only looks away once he shoots her a look like, “you got a problem with a guy who just wants to tell his shopping cart about these nice books he found??”
Thsiscool why is she worried is the question?
Hey man, nice video. What camera are you using? Can you put it in the description next time?
I usually like the Salvation Army a bit better, stuff is thrown all over the place and they are usually located in the 'hood. That usually chases away the other pickers!
krillin876 I go to the 'hood ones here , because they usually have nicer stuff that hasn't been picked through. as well.
Totally agree. Also the more affluent the neighbor the higher the prices (looking at you Goodwill)
krillin876 our salvation army has nothing but crappy crap with cat/dog and human waste smell You should really see it. I think the employees pick it over before its released on floor
dev ochka sometimes you have to dig through the crap, that is how you find the deals!
krillin876 exactly.

Really you’re out of pocket on the inventory until you sell enough To break even lol
You don’t say? Lmao captain obvious over here
what type of camera was being used for this video??
Perhaps you should re-title this video to How Much $ Can I Spend In 1 Hour because at no time did I see you "make" anything other than this video. How about some post purchase net figures/facts at the end of the video instead of what you think you'll make in a perfect world?
brilliant!!
Our local Goodwill went ALL retail and no longer sell deals..
Poor girl having to be his cashier. @11:00 and beyond is hard to watch.
The way she holds the massager away from her like iit will attack @11:25...I mean I don't blame her.
It's a job, it's better than having to sell her body on the streets like so many others..
She was super hot!
she was holding the wire..lol
Ugly Casanova the MiLF in line before home was hot too!

9:00 the woman is thinking wtf is he doing?
"Crazy people at the thrift store talking to themselves."
The answer in any reselling is NO you cant make any money in one hour of looking for product. It must be cleaned, researched, graded, photographed, listed, packaged and shipped. Even if you just threw it on a local listing the odds of selling any specific value item in under 1 hour of walking into a goodwill are slim to none.
lol, my goodwills are so filthy compared to yours!
