Your first instinct is probably correct. Keepsakes for 15 year old quinceanera are usually jewelry or a jewelry box - very quality type items appreciated by all those invited to the party. There are a lot of urns to be recycled at thrift stores because unfortunately in my opinion too many people use cremation to dispose of human beings instead of returning them to ‘dust to dust.’✨ (A small size usually indicate the remains were divided among family members, like a divorced dad and mom, or siblings etc.)✨
Well hello, I just discovered you. I'm really enjoying your videos and I especially enjoy the fact that you know and work with Laura Caldwell who is like one of my favorites! Yes, I would love to see more goodwill videos😊
I enjoy your videos just the way they are! I wouldn’t want you to just do or mostly do Goodwill shopping. I watch Laura Caldwell and Tiffany at Thrifting Vegas and they do enough Goodwill shopping for me. You have a variety of venues and I really enjoy the variety. Please keep them coming.
I can't believe you didn't get that brass lamp! It was so stunning! And decently priced too. Everything else was great, you have impeccable taste as usual! I particularly love the spindle table
Haha - Laura finds the most amazing things at Goodwills - every time I see vases, I channel Laura and think, where is the Bitossi, Laura would find a Bitossi in here. You got some great items. Thanks for sharing. Everything thing has gone up in price so much.. thrift stores, goodwills, garage sales. And, that box was really small to have ashes -- it was more likely a cat or dog, maybe a small furry animal's ashes. It's just a vessel, I'd clean it up and get the writing off of it and sell it. It's a cool box.
Paint over the inscription with a matte black. If it doesn't work, throw it or turn inscription to back (as you did). It IS really cool, love the texture.
Hey 👋 First time watcher here 😊 I really enjoyed your Goodwill shopping video 📹 My 2 favorite pickers are Kayla "The Homeschool Picker"& Matt the"Part Time Picker". They are now a couple. They post new content every Monday, Wednesday & Thursday wich leaves me nothing to watch Tuesdays, Friday & the weekend 😑 So now that I've found YOU im very happy to follow along on your adventures. Im really looking forward to the antique-ing aspect of your content. Previously I've only watched yard/garage sales, estate sales, goodwill & auctions but i dont know much if at all about antiques. Do you have set days you release new content & if so when? Thank you very much 🙌🙏😇💙
Thank you so much for watching my video! I wish I could say I have a set schedule lol. I TRY to release two a week anytime from Thurs-Sun. Usually depends on my work load that week and when I can fit in editing. 😅
I can’t believe how many things I’m seeing that I used to have! One is, the Givenchy necklace! Mine wasn’t designer but the less expensive version was still lovely and I enjoyed wearing it.
I would love to see a remodel video where you show the details of what you do to your bedroom/house how you decorate and even the messy before and undone parts of your house. I always love a great behind closed he scene look. I shop goodwill a ton and have been so disappointed in the last 2 years they have raised the prices so much.
Loved the video! The figurine with the ear is my favorite. I just found a small framed Picasso poster. Going to hang in my bathroom. I love when I see that you have picked up something similar. It confirms my pickups! ❤ stay cool!!
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. I thrift, too, and once came across a Native American "vase" in a Goodwill and turned it over to see the bottom, and ashes fell out. I felt the urn experience you described! I was actually quite paralyzed in the store and didn't know what to do, and just put the urn back on the shelf and left quickly. Still feel bad I didn't do or say anything, but was the shock at the time, I guess.
Always love watching the thrifting/sourcing process... so fun. Andi... you are so close to 10,000 followers. Its like watching a race. Momentum is building towards that milestone and Im so excited for you haha!
Hi Andi, I like the thrift haul videos since I that's where I source more from so I like to see what catches your eye. Also made me smile to see you get the urn by mistake. I get excited when I see things, grab them and don't realize until I get home that they are flawed or weird! Thank you for your videos and all the time you put into them. Much appreciated.
Do you ever sell matching sets of brass candlesticks holders or do you typically break them up to put them in your sets of 7 candlesticks holders? Just curious if that more desirable/profitable then selling in sets of 2. Thanks
Love all the wood items (including the great spindle-legged table). Also the glass butter dish. And I, too, love brass & copper. Many people do. The urn…probably just a beloved dog or cat. No worries there. Good energy. Then to see those cute wicker ones not too much later! Lol. Also, packing a lunch…so smart & thrifty (literally). As for the haul portion, I love how real & authentic you are. I live in FL. We sweat bullets here. Just comes with the territory. Green picture frame…fantastic. Finally, your friend’s pottery…so stunning. Love your channel & your taste.
The black pottery piece I think is a type called 'Barro Negro' and is made in Mexico. I believe 'Dona Rosa' (1900-1980) was the inventor of that style of pottery. Some pieces with her signature can be worth a bit more, but, there's a lot of it still being made these days after her. Also, the 'blue boy' in the fancy frame was originally by Thomas Gainsborough and there was a so-called counterpart to him called, 'Pinkie' done by Thomas Lawrence, both done in the same style more or less...in case you needed to know that lol. Thanks for sharing the adventure. You have a good sense of aesthetic and style.
When a thread has "stripped in a bolt or screw, take to your local hardware store. They have repair tools or perhaps kits that can re-do the screw. Ask for help, they maybe able to show you how to use them. I think they come in different sizes for the variation of the screw size. My Dad used to fix the odd one (he is,an Engineer) it looked relatively simple. I hope this will help. I am based in New Zealand. I love watching the items you see and buy. Thank you so much!
Nice find on the Givenchy necklace. Yes, most people wouldn’t realize it is a vintage designer costume piece, but even if the maker name is very hard to see or read, the trademark G G at the clasp is the more obvious clue on their necklaces.
I love the little boy blue in the ornate frame! Just a small thing, I know, but so sweet! I found you through Abigail’s Artful Abode’s channel, and you look so familiar! I’m also from the greater Portland area… did you sell at Laura’s Rose City flea last summer, or shop the NW Largest Garage Sale last fall (and buy a square NW pottery plate by chance?)? Regardless… looking forward to watching more of your videos! 😊
I enjoy your antique, flee markets, estate sales very much!!!! And the final haul video is always informative and fun!!! Your booth is also interesting, plus looking forward to seeing your second one also!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
I just found your channel and loved this video. I will definitely go watch a bunch more. I am considering teying my hand at selling items maybe at an antique store or online. What are some of your tips?
Ok, kind of feel like theres a Goodwill challenge going on! Been home for multiple days working so I may try my luck tomorrow at the 4 GW's in my area. See how they compare to garage sales. Mmmmm and honestly would not know how to handle that black urn. Maybe find the family?
Wow!! Congrats on your mauve metal frame 🎉 I know how much you love that color and I find myself looking at mauve stuff and thinking of you. Nice stuff
I love your taste and I really enjoyed your video. Someone could have accidentally given the container with ashes to goodwill or just wanted to get rid of it. It's very small so it may have been a family pet. I would say you actually saved it from being destroyed. Candy g.
Thank you so much for checking out my videos! My sunglasses are actually from Amazon and tagged in my storefront. Link is in my description box. I get asked about them all the time! They come in other colors and are really cheap.
I almost bought an urn to use as a cookie jar 😂 it happens to us all. Likely an animal or sometimes if multiple people want someone’s ashes the funeral home gives out several small urns
Great video, new sub! The PNW has some super big goodwills to shop! Not so much here in the midwest. Although I do find great stuff at Salvation Army, odd shops & thrift stores. You just never know!
I just subscribed and loved this Goodwill video. I do like the Goodwill/Thrift Store videos, I find some wonderful treasures there, so I hope you do more of these!
Ha, ha, on the urn box, Andi! I would think its a box to hold a "pet". Our GW gets them too & I get so excited until I see the base or writing! I don't pick them up as it does freak me out. Great haul, though! Fun to see you shop.
So, I live here too. :) We sure have the best goodwills here! P.s., I now always get a cart now, which is your fav? Mine is Tigard, and Wilsonville, oh, and both Beaverton ones! Fun finds!
My cat is in a wooden box that I see often purchased by thrifters, as is a friend's dog, different crematorium. The little urn is cute and may come in handy for someone, although I don't think crematorium's will allow you to have your own urn, but who knows.. it's cute and probably has a good animal spirit!... oh no, I had to laugh when you said you were going to a goodwill. So many people drop off their loved ones clothing after they pass away at the Goodwill. Whenever I see somebody going through the same size and style of clothes, one after another, I feel pretty certain the previous owner has passed away. I'm sure they would love for their items to live on😮❤
Thankfully after I posted this video, a few people said that the pot was actually a Quinceanera box for a birthday. phew!! That’s why it was dated and had a name on it. I know a few family members who have pets in cute little containers so that is why I was so worried. lol Thanks for watching my video!
I understand brass is a hot seller, but on Nick Lewis's channel the decorative world say silver is BACK! LOL!... They gotta keep folks buying new. Hell, my 10 year old home is back on trend😂... something to keep in mind when the word gets out!❤
@@AllPutTogether really? I make jewelry and I find Sterling is easier to clean but you may know something I don't. I would be really interested on how you clean your brass I just use Brasso and I noticed you keep your brass nice and shiny. I see a lot of other people that Thrift don't clean their medals at all which I think takes away from the beauty but everyone has their own taste♥️
New subscriber here from Birmingham Alabama! Where are you located? The thrift stores there are wonderful! Ours is so bad! If I found stuff like that I’d be buying it all because we don’t see stuff like that! 😂❤😊 great video!
Ahhhh Portland! I should have waited longer before commenting. ❤ We talk about visiting the PNW it’s beautiful out there from what I see in movies and on other channels. Would love to visit out there!
The boat picture was pretty. The frame was too big for me. In a different frame it would be good even if it was factory made. I love single brass candle holders. I'm not a reseller but I use them to intersperse with the rest of my decor year round.
I went to an estate sale and I bought the most beautiful pottery Urn. I had no idea what I was purchasing. I came home and I thought wow it’s still really dirty and dusty inside. So, I proceeded to wash it out and then I turned it over to wash the bottom and there was a person‘s name! Freaked me out, I just washed down the drain what little bit of ashes was left in the pottery! It was the mother-in-law of the person that owned the home. I did some digging on the internet. I didn’t know what to do with it. I put it in my garage. It was there for a few days and literally I could not stop thinking about it. Don’t judge me, but I just took it and donated it to a thrift store. I asked her to forgive me for washing her ashes away! It was terrible to think about! Still is!
Ohh my goodness this story made me laugh! I'm so sorry you had that experience - it really does make ya feel terrible knowing it was someone's loved ones! Oops!
@@AllPutTogether my thoughts, only me! 🙄 I think the estate company that I bought it from could have at least said something to me. So now, I always take a second glance at anything that looks like it could have carried ashes inside. Not that long ago at the boulder Goodwill here in Colorado, I know the staff pretty well and I brought up a beautiful box that was completely sealed and the cashier said do you know what this is? Yep, sure enough! That stayed behind! You can always take what you have somewhere completely beautiful maybe in the mountains or somewhere and bury it somewhere beautiful. At least you didn’t clean out ashes (residue) and flush them down the sink. 😂 I completely made up a story in my head, being that the ashes were the mother-in-law and the husband had passed away long time ago. I wonder if she tossed the ashes in the trash and just kept the container on the fireplace? Maybe they didn’t get along? That’s where my mind went. Even when I drove away from the thrift store again, I told her I was sorry. It was the right thing to do. Have a great night 😊
Yep, I'd be freaked out about the urn. I mean, in the big picture, it isn't the worst thing that could happen, but still, it would disturb my peace, which I barely have a hold on in the first place.
4:22 I'm just now putting out a video showing my brass collection and I also called it etching when I recorded it and had to add a note that it's actually engraving. Etching is done with acid while engraving is carved. Goodwill prices are getting ridiculous. Went to one of my favorites yesterday and I don't plan going back, then again, I rarely get out that way so will probably stop. I did pick up season 1 and 2 of Dallas for $2, so was worth my time. :) 14:23 Those pillows underneath the table moved like they were down pillows. I love down filled pillows. Get a shotgun mic and you can record nice and cool.
I was so sad about the urn. It’s a beautiful box. However, I would bury that away from my home or re-donate it. 😢 I love Picaso too ! I recently thrifted a ginormous museum poster that I love. Great finds!
Is not an urn! 😂 it’s a Quinceañera souvenir for the guests 😂
Phew!!!!! I'm so glad. ;)
The quinceanera box might be Oaxaca pottery?
I think you're totally right!!! Makes sense with the pottery. I'm so glad it's not cursed lol. ;)
Lol Ashley’s ashes😂
You need to look up the blue boy in your frame , people collect them
It seems really small to be an urn... Maybe a keepsake box for a birthday? She was 15, so quinceañera perhaps?
Youre so right! I'm so glad! lol
They sell mini urn. I have some of my sister's ashes, and she is in a small one.

Ha! Agree about the cart! I'm the same about original art, one of my favorite things to find. It took me a while to learn about 'factory art'.
Love your videos!!! You find such cool pieces. Is the small vintage frame still available? I love collecting them. ❤❤
Thank you! I haven’t listed the little frame yet, but I’m hoping to get to my backlog of stuff soon!
Take another look at the bottom of the cabbage creamer-I thing it said F & F for Fitz and Floyd-a lot of people do collect it. Nice haul as usual❤

Yes, prices are soooooo high now! And I can't wait to show you guys how I actually use the vintage I keep in my home.
The cabbage creamer is Fitz & Floyd (has the sticker on the bottom). It may be worth more than you were thinking. F&F is very popular.
Thanks for the hot tip!
I just sold a Fitz & Floyd with a chip! Listed for three days.

I agree, it is lovely.
1 stop, the green mid century tall glass lamp, maybe scandinavian? I have a few but not in that desired lime color! Loved it!
Me too. I would have bought it. Love the colour
Do you ever sell matching sets of brass candlesticks holders or do you typically break them up to put them in your sets of 7 candlesticks holders? Just curious if that more desirable/profitable then selling in sets of 2. Thanks
Yes, I sell pairs too, but generally I find the mismatched groups sell for more and quicker.

Correct - it’s definitely Barro Negro from Oaxaca. I always do with with them @atraceofvintageCA

That Gainsborough piece was everywhere back in the day. My great-grandparents had it framed in their Tampa home. It was SO popular.
It is The Year of the Dragon, so red is probably in!
Love to see the neat pieces you curate for your shops!

You can découpage something over that art. Maybe apply some gesso first?
Great idea!
Do you send the candles with the candle holders
I don’t unless the holder requires a very specific size that would be hard for someone to source on their own.
You should do what you're comfortable at but you should do wide range of everything. In my opinion.
The boat picture was pretty. The frame was too big for me. In a different frame it would be good even if it was factory made. I love single brass candle holders. I'm not a reseller but I use them to intersperse with the rest of my decor year round.
The necklace has a classic Givenchy clasp. Cleaned up, it will be lovely.
So, that is an under the sofa table. Slides over the cushion...🌲🤸🧚🦸
I completely made up a story in my head, being that the ashes were the mother-in-law and the husband had passed away long time ago. I wonder if she tossed the ashes in the trash and just kept the container on the fireplace? Maybe they didn’t get along?
That’s where my mind went.
Even when I drove away from the thrift store again, I told her I was sorry. It was the right thing to do.
Have a great night 😊
Also, do the sets always have to have the same patina/shine?
I usually shine them all up before listing, however they don't all have the exact same finish, which people haven't seemed to mind.
@@AllPutTogether Awesome, thanks. Love your content.
Yep, I'd be freaked out about the urn. I mean, in the big picture, it isn't the worst thing that could happen, but still, it would disturb my peace, which I barely have a hold on in the first place.
I think I would take it to a park and plant that black ash box under a tree
Luckily I found out after this video it wasnt an urn, but a birthday keepsake box! phew!
I am glad you bought the wood statue. Very cool. Did you buy the small side table? 25:53 It was gorgeous.
I actually just got a mic and plan to get it setup for my next video! :)
I was so sad about the urn. It’s a beautiful box. However, I would bury that away from my home or re-donate it. 😢 I love Picaso too ! I recently thrifted a ginormous museum poster that I love. Great finds!
