Making a Reclaimed Wood Sidetable

I make a rustic sidetable from some reclaimed wood. This reclaimed wood I use is a mixture of pine and fir that has gone through a few different uses in a previous life. I remove any nails or staples from the wood and cut it to size. The construction for this rustic sidetable/nightstand is boxjoint style but each joint is a separate strip of wood. No nails in the construction only glue. The lower shelf is held in position in a dado in the sides. After sanding the sidetable I applied some white vinegar/steel wool mixture (prepared this 48hrs earlier) and some oil/wax afterwards.

Enkele dagen in dat potje samen met wat natuurazijn laten trekken. Het staal 'lost' helemaal op, dit oxideert dan het hout (maakt het hout donkerder tot zwart in sommige gevallen) Werkt vooral goed op soorten met veel tannines zoals bvb eik. Blijkbaar kan je ook soorten met weinig tannine op voorhand bestrijken met sterke zwarte thee, dit bevat ook tannine, waardoor het hout wel verkleurt... dat heb ik zelf nu niet getest.
