I almost washed my boots with 0° tip ... but then I saw this video! Gosh Thanks consumer report 👍
Lmao
The zero degree nozzle is very useful for hitting the second story on a house you are cleaning, removing rust staining on concrete, or gum and paint on concrete. You do have to be careful with it and pay attention. Just because some people don't know how to use equipment, doesn't mean CR should stop recommending it. Frankly, I would argue those people probably shouldn't use any power equipment.
Here’s what you do. Make sure it has a Honda engine. Make sure the pump is mounted on the back of engine NOT on the bottom. Make sure it puts out at least 3,000 PSI. You’re welcome. I’m a small engine mechanic. Trust me.
Awesome way of testing your washer to see if it's hitting the claimed working PSI with that gauge in the video.
This will probably be my last UA-cam comment as I intend on using a 0 degree tip and waving it around carelessly goodbye world
Novel way of departing - at least you will have cleaned up after you 😁
😂😂😂
after seeing what the 0° did to the boot and carrot. I thought this would be great for blasting weeds from the cracks in the side walk. apparently weeds are made of some space age material, because the only thing that got blasted was me. I was covered in mud from the splash back. but the weeds remained intact. I was using an 2700 psi electric
if it was electric, it was NOT producing 2700 PSI. it's essentially impossible to get that much PSI out of a 110 wall outlet.
Thanks for the video!
good advice thanks.
I don't see how this is a buying guide. I still don't know which one to buy
alaskanalain just their way to trap you into subscribing to their rag of a magazine.
It’s basically like this do you want to spend the money on gas and spend a little extra or do you want to go with a plug in Model I’ve always had gas and so has my dad in my opinion everybody should have a Honda 3000 PSI or above but I’ve got a show truck for Willers semi’s and all that good stuff and clean so I want high psi and a good lasting motor that’s what I found out of the Honda’s
you can choose AUTLEAD pressure washer
you can choose AUTLEAD pressure washer
0 degree is also useful for cutting roots from cracks or seams in concrete - like it you have a tree growing out of a crack.
I hooked the zero degree nozzle up to a CNC gantry type machine and now cut all my carrots on it.
Highly informative 💯ty
PSI is NOT a measure of "Power". It's a measure of pressure (Pounds per square inch).
Yes, for it to be power you got to factor in the flow rate
I scrolled down to the comments to see recommendations and found people freaking out about a warning. Great and informative video.
0 degree nozzles come in real handy, not recommending one because its dangerous, is like not recommending a chain on a chainsaw because its to dangerous. All tools can be dangerous. People need to take more responsibility for themselves and their own personal safety.
I screamed when they ripped through the timbs
Hi, I need help on what is the best for my carwash business. I need electric pressure washer that can run at least 2-5 straight. Hope you can suggest the best price and product. Thank you.
Ok, so I wanted to get a pressure washer for a summer job. I’m 15 and want to make some extra money before going into real work. Would there be any tips about pressure washing and the cost of things??
Hope they don’t find out about turbo nozzles 😄
No mention of the relevance of flow rate? GPM/LPM
Wow, i did not know how strong some of these are
Since when is saying the term "pounds per square inch" considered a science lesson?
What's next? Saws should not come with blades?
Regarding not recommending 0° nozzle . . . Do you also not recommend hammers because I could smash my finger? And of course every knife must immediately be removed from the kitchen.
what is the material used in this test?
I have it in my garage and I'm not diying
What a bunch of nannies Consumer Reports are! 0 degree nozzles are dangerous, so you want us to THROW THEM AWAY?! Why not just be careful. I'm sure the toughest jobs need them. What's wrong with an extension cord; they draw that close to 15 amps? PSI is a measure of pressure, not power.
thundercamel they didn't say you can use a turbo nozzle
0 degree nozzles are utterly useless. If you need a 0 degree nozzle you're using the wrong tool or procedure for cleaning. If you need it for cutting you should buy proper equipment like a water jet cutter.
They also said PSI is a measure of pressure. What they said before (the amount of power a pressure washer delivers is measured in psi) is also perfectly correct. Power is a force that can change the velocity of a body (here water). Pressure is exactly that force in this application!
Holy shit...I just wrote the exact same thing before I saw your comment. I'll leave mine up too so we both know there is at least one other adult in the room.
I use an extension with my pressure washer all the time and I've never had any problems and half of the time the extension gets soaked and still nothing,
Also my pressure washer has an adjustable nozzle which has a zero degree setting
Ok, a zero degree can cut the end of a workboot if held there a while with intense exactness. But who on earth would keep the jet on their boot? It may swipe across in 1/2 second at most and cause NO DAMAGE. But everyone just throw away their zero degree nozzles. LOL.
Its their lawyers. Lol.
I play a game with my friends where 1 person rides a bike and the other tries to shoot him off with the 0 degree nozzle, while shirtless. Were all fine.
A zero degree hit my finger once. It hurt, bled and I had to put a band aid on it, then continued working. I also hit my knee with an axe and had to go to the ER. I still wont throw away my axe. There was a news report on "the dangers of a pressure washer" that terrified the gullible a few years back
alaskanalain you need to work on safety sheesh.
never use an extension cord? bullshit
why should I never use an electric pressure washer with an extension cord?
+omgimgfut I think it's because the water could get in between the plug and potentially electrocute you. I think as long as you're careful and keep the plug off the ground you would be fine.
Wait wait??? I ONLY point my pressure washer at my pets!
can you tell me company name plz
0 degree is dangerous, also your chef knife can cut your head off! why you still use it?
hahaha dangerous? But a AR-15 sold to the public that can do 30 rounds in 6 seconds is ok.
Really? No 0'? I often have to use that tip along with an extending want with a ladder to do the north side of my house, its still hard to get enough pressure to clean it (using gas). like a gun, you should be practicing trigger discipline.
Maybe they want you to clean it using your shot gun, just for safety :p
@@alaskanalain Homer gets a gun
I don't know why they say don't use an extension cord. I have to use an extension cord.
Of all the things in this world to take a stand against and Consumer Reports chooses a water nozzle 😂😂😂
I don't see how is buying guide
One thing they can’t test is how well they last
I was hoping they will explain importance of "Liters per Minute" but got dissapointed
My kitchen shears can cut a carrot better than that, shall I throw them away too?
Which kind for industrial use
I live in calfornia.... the "0" here is illegal.... they say it's to powerful and tactical to use.... sucks!!!
You're insane. I have an existing pressure washer with a zero degree nozzle on it and it is brilliant. I also voluntarily sit on a tank of explosive liquid which propels me places at 70mph or more, start fires in the fireplaces of my house, and use implements called "knives" which will chop a carrot better than a zero degree nozzle will .... America. Pro Gun and Anti Nozzle. Right ....
hands up dont spray
dcmilne1 spot on i agree
Your garden hose with a good spray nozzle can damn near do anything the little cheap pressure washers can do. The secret is pre-treating the surface with the right SOAP product. Your car wash pre-treats and then mostly just rinses off what the soap has done. No gadget seller is going to tell you about pre-treating. They expect you to clean your deck with a 3/4" wide stream of water. Did you PAINT your deck with a 3/4" brush? Think about it.
Baloney. My concrete can be rain-soaked for days and a garden hose will do NOTHING. With a strong PSI and 0-degree tip, the mold, moss and lichens are blasted away. The garden hose does not work, not even a little bit.
Ummm, a knife is dangerous too!
Man, I wonder what kind of horror stories surround using the 0 degree.
There is a horror movie already with some guy going around killing people with the 0 degree nozzle, The Texas Pressure Washer Massacre....
lol
Nannies! Throw a 0 degree angle away! Then what will I do in a super soaker war? Jk, but don't throw a 0 degree away
I have nothing else to do
Don't buy an electric pressure washer that operates on 120 VAC or draws less than 15 amps unless your needs are very limited for small uses in your own home. These electrics just don't have adequate power nor do they last. Buy the best gasoline pressure washer, rated over 2800 psi that you can afford. If you plan to pressure wash for others and charge for it, spend at least a thousand dollars for a strong, dependable unit and it will be fully paid for after two to three pressure washing jobs.
Here let me hold my 0 degree tip against my boot long enough for it to cut through. It’s not the nozzle it’s the user that causes issues
yeah, the 0 degrees are frowned upon because idiots point them at others and cause accidents.
You guys are a bunch of safety sallies... The 0º nozzles are perfect for things where only the highest power can get the job done. You wouldn't be using that to clean a whole driveway -- it would take forever.
All the conections with it....
Guns are fine but better watch out for that 0 degree nozzle that shit is lethal my man
model no. ? plz
Your recommendation of not purchasing or throwing away a zero degree nozzle is nuts. This is a tool, most all tools can be dangerous if not used responsibly by the owner. Suggesting not using the tool to its fullest potential because YOU feel we as consumers are not capable of using it as it was designed is arrogant and demeaning on your part and greatly diminishes the value of your review! You are beginning to sound like a government agency!
I'll take your 0 degrees washer tips...boys leave this to a man
Wait guys why they say never use an cord with it
Big$MoneyBoss because they're idiots. You will notice no draw back with an extension cord.
Safety Sallys alert
Consumer reports recommends 0 degree tips should not be sold with pressure washers.....I no longer have any confidence whatsoever in anything they say.
Psi is not power, it's pressure and it has no power without volume of flow
The guy with his back bent over so he can spray something two inches off the ground is a useless test. Also they repeated the same three images for the duration of the video.
Nozzle police
could not have stated it better.........people who can not regulate themselves trying to do it for others.....enough already
Sorry to burst a bubble but this really wasn’t helpful at all I’ve had power washers for over 20 years now and not once have I seen anybody get hurt with the 0° angle And also an FYI I don’t stop at 3000 PSI they go way up it’s just if you want to pay the price for higher psi At my opinion it’s worth buying the high psi but I also have a show truck power wash the house garage mowers Fourwheelers Stuff like that and that you’re just used to probably at least 20 to 30 hours a week so it’s got to be a good pressure washer just not any here is there a pressure washer something like Honda is what I will always stay with
This whole organization is the biggest bunch of fear-mongering nannies I've ever come across. If their stance on 0 degree tips surprises you, you should hear their stance on ATVs, (to surmise: The entire power sports industry is pure evil and should be banished from existence). I dropped my subscription when I came to the realization that their reviews have little to nothing to do durability or longevity of products which is always one of my primary concerns in this day and age of cheap plastic crap that we live in.
Wande
I came for a guide on what to look for in a quality pressure washer and got safety video. Thanks for nothing.
Thanks for the commercial for yourselves. Waste of time.
First error: Power is not measured in PSI, that is pressure. Power must be measured using PSI and volume of water, typically gallons/minuted for Americans.
"Power" is a unit of measurement for work performed.
Imagine having 10,000 PSI but it only delivers a drop of water a minute; can't do much work with that so there is very little power.
Only 1 minute in and confidence is low that there will be any useful information.
. . . . . . I was right, nothing useful here.
Totally useless info
the biggest problem with a pressure washer is water usage. and mobility, environmental concerns and cost to power them. effectiveness
I don’t see an issue with any of those topics.
Six Years old review.
Why do you want to nanny state everything? "We don't recommend anything with a zero degree nozzle"..."you should throw them away". How about you understand your using a fucking power tool and not blow your toe off? There used to be a thing called "personal responsibility"...look it up. Do you not recommend saws because they have sharp blades? That nozzle is used by many people and it's included because their is a demand from consumers for it. If it wasn't a selling feature the manufacturer wouldn't waste money on it. Grow up and stop trying to nerf the world. AND WTF with the guy in the suite? 2:05
“Takes the longer”? Do you mean “takes the longest?”...or “takes longer”? Yikes.
WTF..
lol
Here we go again... You guys never learn do you? You keep spreading the same misinformation over and over that electric is not as strong as gas. Again...why are we comparing 120 volt models to gas powered models???? You might as well compare a weed wacker engine to them. Jeez. A 220 volt model pressure washer has power levels that rival those of the gas powered ones.
Because this video is aimed at American consumers, and we do not have 220 power available. If you are talking about 240, then these models are targeted at commercial users and are not applicable to a video targeted at residential consumers.
Except they did not mention that in this video. Also 240 IS available. Check your dryer, hot water heater, stove, and A/C, all 240. Had they said that 120 with 15 amp breaker limit is reason why electric pressure washers are not recommend for tough jobs, then fine by me, but they did not, which leaves the consumer thinking that any kind of electric pressure washer, regardless of voltage and amp rating, is weak compared to gas.

Is 240 available in the typical residence? Sure it is in the building, but how many residences have an available 240 volt outlet in the correct NEMA configuration for a 240 volt pressure washer.
Strictly speaking there is nothing that would prevent you from legally using a 240 volt pressure washer at home, but it would be so impractical that it isnt worth mentioning in a 5 minute video about consumer options regarding residential pressure washers.
You would need to have an electrician come out and install a brand new 240 volt outlet (unless you are suggesting people pull their dryer or range out every time they want to pressure wash)
You would need easily 100ft or more of costly extension cord, which would probably be something like 6/3 or 8/3 sjoow, which would easily be a 200 dollar cord, or have multiple outlets on the exterior of the house which would require dedicated circuits for each outlet per the NEC.
You are not wrong that there are indeed 240 volt pressure washers that spec out to be just as powerful as gas models and it would technically be possible to install these in a residential context. However these options are so impractical they are not worth mentioning in a 5 min video targeting residential consumers, from a company called consumer reports, that reviews consumer grade equipment!
The things you mentioned IS worth mentioning because those are VALID cons as to why you don't want an electric pressure washer. To say that electric pressure washers are weak is NOT VALID if they did not explain the reasoning behind it. They should have said because of 120 volt circuits with 15 amp breakers.
Also, there is a consumer grade pressure washer rated for 5 HP @ 240 that you can purchase from Northern Tool (1573021). You use a long hose for to reach places, not long electrical cord. I like the fact that a it's less likely to be stolen since hardly anyone has a 240 outlet and it's not very portable and no need to worry about gas getting bad if I decide to be lazy.
Wow! What a horrible review or whatever you want to call this. I guess I better throw out all my knives because they may cut my finger off or my forks because they can poke an eye out or I should not go upstairs because I may fall down them or I should park my truck and cars in the garage because there is gas in them, or maybe I should stop using my smoker because well it smokes and my grill because well it smokes and oh yeah, my hot water heater because it’s under lots of pressure and not to mention the hot water that come out of it may burn me and shoot I suppose I should stop driving because I could get into an accident and kill myself and my gosh I guess the biggest thing is I should get rid of my sporting equipment because well you know how injuries go with sports including shooting and fishing sports. We just can live in this world anymore with all the dangers. I’m so glad I was told to get rid of the zero because I could cut my finger or toes off!! Thanks!!!
Well that's 4:38 of my life I won't get back. Throw away the 0 degree nozzle? Must be a Democrat doing the review. Might as well come take my guns away too. Those are also dangerous :)
